We haven't purchased any other meat since we've joined the CSA and intend to buy at the summer farmer's markets. Otherwise - just know that buying your meat through the CSA is not like buying from Stop & Shop. I know that buying from local farmers means that selection is not consistent, and you take the good with the bad - just like they do. Pick up dates have been changed for 3 out of the 6 months that we were CSA members (only once due to weather). Email responses can be slow (I'm a little high-strung). The people I've interacted with have all been pleasant and helpful. I think its important to support small, local farms and businesses and I encourage everyone else to think seriously about doing it too. Just be prepared to go with the flow.
