Most sites are seasonal and folks have kept things clean and neat. We stayed 7 nights and were in site 2 (by the office) then in site 29 (in the fields). Going off season (late Sept - early Oct) is best as this campground is on a beautiful lake for swimming and kayaking (which we did and saw eagles and loons), but, could get pretty crazy busy in summertime. Bathrooms are in need of an upgrade but there was plenty of hot water! We would stay here again if passing through, lots to explore with Moosehorn Wildlife Refuge near by and St. Stephen New Brunswick, the chocolate capital of Canada !

The reason I give this 5 stars is the owners. They were exceptional! We came to this campground on our way to Canada because our Heartland RV frame fell apart on the highway. We limped into this campground since it was the closest one we could find. They put us in a spot that was easy to get into and let us stay as long as we needed while we sorted things out with the RV. It turned out the RV was totaled. We are full-timers and had to move out of it and leave it stored there. The owners were so kind and patient with us while it was stored there for months while we tried to get some resolution with Heartland (which never happened), and they did not even charge us to store it because they knew we had enough problems to deal with. I am so grateful to the owners of this campground. They were like angels to us in our time of need. Thank you Keene's Lake, you have no idea how much we appreciate your help. In my reviews I always mention how the cell coverage is since we work remotely. Verizon did not work well here at all because it is so close to Canada and our phone and hotspot kept roaming. Our T-Mobile phone and data worked better but it wasn't a very strong signal.

Located right along the Ocean in picturesque St. Andrews, New Brunswick, Kiwanis Oceanfront…read moreCampground is a popular camping compound for locals and travelers alike. They offer services to tenters up to Class A motorcoaches. Many sites have great waterviews and a whole line of sites are listed as waterfront, just the street seperates your unit from the beach. Roadways in the campground are paved, but sites are grass. Fullhook ups are available (w/s/e). Sites are small in width - you can get your unit with slides out and vehicle right next to it before you're in the next camp site. If you want more "real estate" to park your vehicle and set up a grill and picnic table and maybe another chair or two, good luck - best bet, park the vehicle in the overflow area. A good portion of the campground is given over to seasonal campers and they've decorated their lots in a whole mishmash of styles - seems like almost anything goes. Campground can get rather hectic and loud on weekends and holiday periods. They'll even park overflow campers on the grass sections when they run out of hookups. They were renovating a portion of the campground when we were there - no rv's on the sites and piles of rock/gravel. Don't know what they plan to do. Laundry is in one building, showers and bathrooms are another - you could tell bath house was recently renovated.

What makes me rate this campground so low is that the tenting area is infested with fire ants. Waking up to being bitten by ants is not a pleasant morning and cooking breakfast was nothing short of a dance to keep them off my feet. The part that really bothers me is that when I spoke with the staff to inform them of the infestation they knew about the problem. They gave us our money back right away but the fact that they have no plans on dealing with the ant issue is quite concerning. I would not recommend tenting to anyone, especially with children or pets. I will say it would be a nice spot if you have a trailer or something to keep you off the ground.

Folks, I don't really know what to say other than 'you just gotta come here!'…read moreI love this place! I came through on a hum last year, stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. Told Shirley (the owner) I would be back "next year" to help out, and here I am, Aug. 8th, 2019, sad to leave after spending 4 weeks in the grand teepee, helping out around the camp. Off route 1, into the woods, to grandmama's RV we go! But it is so much more... tent sites, group sites, great trails, and great vibe from the surrounding community. But what you really want to know is; this is a great base for exploring coastal Maine & Downeast. Now understand 2 things... Downeast is on the coast, but when the term 'downeast' is used, it is very much a reference to the culture of the folk who grew up and live here and have also known it through the generations of their family. Once you get here, you're in the thick of what "coastal Maine" really is without the crowds of Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, etc.. from Cottonwood you will find within 20 mins. Never crowded beaches with all the beauty of those other places... and you can also make a day trip of getting to Easport or Calaise and just breath in New Brunswick! Oh yeah, bring your passport... One of the other things I love about camping here, are the various small sites that are suitable for bicyclers and bikers who travel with minimal gear and need to stop for short stays. Even though its right off the road, once in, you're cast into the woods! Oh yeah, and I can't think of another camp with such a great bath house along this route... Cottonwood Camping is truly a great experience and my pick as a base for exploring Downeast, Coastal Maine, the far north on the east side of the U.S. Shirley Cotton makes it happen! She is the BOMB!!

I can honestly say this place was easy to find and very photogenic. Easy to recommend.read more
