Central Stockholm is situated on a number of Islands. One of them is Södermalm with a circumference of about 10 km. On the east side there goes a street from east to west called Folkungagatan. A "folkung" goes back in time when kings were chosen by the people. SOFO stays for the area south of this street. International magasins and newspapers have named this one of the most interesting townships in the world. It is considered the birthplace of Spotify, among others. The area holds shops, cafés and restaurants of highclass without being snobbish. Everything is genuin with a mix of old and new. This was once the home area for the working class people. This can not be said today. The mix of people gives a rich and outstanding atmosphere though you see no luxury or upperclass bad maners. The nature is present as well with parks, hills and the water surrounding Södermalm. You can take a brake at Greta Garbo Square or on top of Vita Bergen (White Park) with a nice view over southern Stockholm. At Nytorget (New Square) you will experience the true feeling of SOFO while being part of daily life. read more
