This small museum, which is situated under Stockholm's oldest stone bridge, the Norrbro, on Helgeandsholmen island, is a nice way to spend an hour whilst exploring Gamla Stan.
Free admittance to the museum lets you tour an authentic excavation site (a part of the original town wall and graveyard), a warship, and a garden. Supplementing these real artifacts are waxen recreations of what medieval city life was like for Stockholm's people, which can feel both a bit funny and out of place, say, next to the real deals. The whole experience is informative yet rather brief. Let's just say life was pretty grim back in those days.
