I am pleased to report that I had a very positive experience working with Bonnie from the beginning of my civil case to the end, and I am very satisfied with the outcome. In terms of thoroughness, Bonnie demonstrated a keen analytical ability by recognizing each course that the case could have taken as a result of the defendants actions/inactions. I would imagine that a competent attorney would be a decent chess player, as the mindset and strategy is similar. As far as responsiveness, let's face it.. attorney's have more than one case that they are working at any given time. Bonnie took my case after forwarding all of the relative contractual documents concerning a brewing legal matter getting worse by the day and by the minute. I had a contractual liability issue that needed an expert in the field of contractual residential / commercial high-end leases. Fortunately, I found Bonnie who managed to settle my legal matter between the two parties amicably resulting in an mutual out of court legal agreement only two short days after retaining Bonnie's services. Bonnie is the only attorney with whom I have conducted business with and continue to do business with that took this case by the horns and successfully settled a case that would have otherwise taken a year in court and thousands more spent. In this particular matter, I had accepted my contractual liabilities and stepped up to that plate concerning the contracts in question but would not allow myself to be taken advantage of. Bonnie's in depth knowledge of the law and immediate defense on my behalf sure did stop the other parties right in their tracks. I feared this would be dragged out in court for months and instead took two short days for both parties to settle on an agreement. The demand letter which Bonnie was meticulous with the details regarding was so strong right out of the gate, it immediately brought to light what the laws actually state for all concerned parties in this matter. This lawyer took advantage of me. I do not recommend her. I went to Bonnie Stokes last year because I was being harassed and sued by my neighbor. I did not really have any legal knowledge, and I trusted her to give me the best advice to get out of the lawsuit with the least financial impact. She is a smooth talker, and I naively followed her advice. A year later found myself in debt nearly $15,000. Little did I know that my homeowners insurance would have covered this had I asked upfront. I have no idea why this lawyer did not suggest to me first thing that I contact my homeowners insurance. She pushed me to pay her around $1000 every month so we could bring the case to court, and she indicated to me that the case would be easy to win and I would get my money back and maybe more in the end. The month before our court date, she disclosed to me that the court fees and fees for her work would be about $40,000 for that month and it was highly unlikely that I would get any of it back. Why on earth did she not tell me this upfront when she knew I did not have a lot of money to spend? She led me completely down the wrong path which allowed her to make the most money off of me rather than giving me the best advice on how to get out of the situation with little financial burden. If she had advised me to settle, I would have saved thousands. This lawyer took advantage of me and is only out for her own benefit. I do NOT recommend her. Also, I'm not sure why there are only 3 reviews here. She previously had a page on Yelp with many reviews. The previous page must have been deleted and a new one started (probably because of bad reviews.) This lawyer is sketchy. read more
