The few 1-star reviews on here are dead wrong; I'd give Stone Arms 10 stars if I could. While, Jeff Stone, the owner of Stone Arms, may appear brusque at times, he's actually an honorable man of very high moral character if you are able to get to know him. I suspect the bad reviews are either his competition, who can't hold a candle to him, or they are the constant stream of "looky-loos" I frequently see in Jeff's store. Put it this way, you know a merchant is good when he's not always trying to upsell you. Jeff sells quality guns, ammo, and merch, and fits it to your needs, not just to up a sale. Again, that speaks to Jeff's and this store's integrity. So let me tell you the truth about Jeff, because these reviews are just as much about him as they are his store. We moved from the Chicago area over a year ago, and my wife had been looking not only for her first semi-auto pistol and AR-15, but also someone who would train her on it...properly (and good luck with *that* back in Chicago!). She'd already bought the wrong semi-automatic. It fit her hand, but she could not strip it, rack it, or load it, it was so tight, and shooting it would prove to be a chore. She later went on to buy her first AR-15 from Jeff. She knew she wanted one, but was hesitant to spend almost $1K on a rifle if she couldn't find someone to teach her how to use it. Enter Jeff. He showed her a lower-priced AR first, but she ended up buying a higher-priced AR that he had to special order for her at no extra charge. So he not only helped her purchase her first AR-15, he hooked her up with a scope, mounted it, sighted it in, and then, *as he had promised to do*, he trained her how to use it. Jeff spent over 2 hours working with her not only on her new AR-15, but also instructing her on the .9mm semi-automatic she bought that was clearly the wrong gun for her, that wasn't even purchased at his store! (Oh, and he also instructed her on a .38 Special she'd had for years, which also wasn't bought at his store.) In other words, we got over 2 hours of instruction from a highly-knowledgeable instructor. Why? Because Jeff promised he would, and he cares about safety, and because he saw that my wife had a need that clearly no one else could or would fill. If that's not service after the sale, I don't know what is! So, I can't say enough about this man, and my wife just loves him as an instructor, he helped her so much. Without him, she would never have been able to foray into the world of guns; a world, like it or not, that is heavily populated by men. Without Jeff, her only options would've been pink guns and female instructors who themselves were so afraid of the hype around AR-15s, they refused to help her get one, and certainly wouldn't have trained her on one. I was very disappointed by my visit. I went 20 miles out of my way, based on recommendations read, but was blown off by the guy with the buzz cut. I went seeking advice and purchase of home defense weapons. I was told that he did not have time to provide customer service for 'first time gun buyers'. Instead advised me to research online, check their inventory online and then come back when I was ready to purchase. My desire was good advice, purchase of a couple of weapons and accessories and then training in the use of these guns. I took my money and left. 3 minutes away, I was treated well by staff at Mobile Shooting Center. These gun snobs can keep it. read more

I've been in this store several times and my first impressions weren't that great. But after I actually talked with Jeff Stone, the owner, I really liked him. He's busy and and a little "preoccupied" at times but he's a very nice guy and willing to help you with anything from a hard to find gun part, to gunsmith work. He also does FFL transfers. Save some shipping costs and buy local! He's not a big box store but his prices are reasonable. Yes you'll spend a little more but that's the problem of being an independent business. I've purchased several items from here. The staff was always helpful and reasonably courteous. However, after my last visit I can no longer recommend doing business with Stone Arms. Jeff, the owner, lost his composure because of a customer who had been in the store before me. Not only was he rude to me for no reason, but also to a friend who came with me. It's one thing to have a bad day, but another thing entirely to become angered at another customer and confide in me that you "literally" want to kill them. That sort of emotional instability and lack of restraint have no place in the firearms business. read more

I would strongly encourage anyone that is looking for a cooperative, honest, and competent gun dealer to do business with Jeff Stone at Stone Arms. I searched for a product that I was told by dealers around the USA, 'cannot be found', 'are only making in MIL/MIL if and when they might be available', 'do not know when that scope might be available', '...get in line, there are hundreds of people if front of you', etc... Then, I placed a call to Mr. Stone and he said, 'OK, I can get it, and this is how...'. I thought, you are kidding, here is a man that says he can get what other dealers said was not available. We talked, I became impressed with Jeff's patience in answering my questions and the long and the short of it, he did just what he said he would. Anyways, the experience I had here Saturday was worth posting a review. I went in with my parents and a friend of theirs. It was the family friend who was purchasing a handgun. She is elderly, and needed a gun that she could cock back easily. The owner, Jeff, was so nice and took a lot of time to help her choose the best one. I knew he was in it to help her and not extort her because the gun he chose DID NOT break the bank. The place was packed and he made sure he paid close attention to all of us customers there. They take credit cards, but charge 3 percent to run your card. You can write them a bad check, but charge you for secured money to be transferred to their bank. Bass pro and Amazon have sights. Cheaper and won't charge you. read more

Great experience doing business here. I bought a Ruger LCP here several years ago and got the best price around. This time I was looking for a stripped lower receiver.
