This was truly one of the best visits I've had with my dog, Queen. From the moment we walked in to the time we left, the overall experience was excellent. There was a brief wait in the exam room of about 10 to 15 minutes after check-in, but once the assistant Simone came in, everything moved smoothly. All of my questions were thoroughly answered, and the advice and suggestions provided were very helpful. I especially appreciated how clearly everything was explained, making it easy for me to understand Queen's care moving forward. The bill was on the higher side, but I understand that many services were provided, and I appreciated the military discount. The staff was incredibly warm and welcoming, and everyone absolutely adored Queen in her little denim jacket and pearl necklace. She was definitely spoiled with cheese and some tasty treats. This clinic is truly a one-stop shop for us. I feel confident continuing care with Leslie as her vet, and I'm excited about the additional services like boarding for short trips and full grooming for her monthly spa treatments. I came to this clinic specifically because it advertised as "fear free," but my experience was the complete opposite. My 6 year old, 65 pound German Shepherd mix has never cried at the vet in her life, until this visit. I specifically told the technician that my dog does best with blood drawn from her lateral saphenous veins (back legs), and that I've been present for previous blood draws where this worked great. They then take my dog to the back (which was surprising I thought they would do it in front of me.) Despite this, they ignored my input and drew from her jugular vein (neck vein) instead. There was no alcohol residue on her back legs, meaning they didn't even attempt what I requested. I heard her yelp in pain, something that has never happened before. The technician never informed me they would be performing a cystocentesis (inserting a needle into the bladder to collect urine). I only discovered this happened when the doctor mentioned it during a follow-up phone call. A cysto requires restraining the dog on their back and using an ultrasound to guide a needle into the bladder. For a 65-pound German Shepherd mix, this meant significant physical restraint, which is likely why I heard her screaming from the exam room. I also want it known that complications can happen after performing a cysto! So they did it without my consent and if something were to have happened I wouldn't have known to tell the ER. We didn't need to do a urine culture so it was completely unnecessary. When I asked about the different blood panel options, the technician struggled to explain and had to repeatedly reference his paperwork. He never mentioned that urine collection was part of the panel and he never said they would be collecting urine there through a cystocentesis. So the technician took my dog to the back to get her blood drawn was all I knew they were doing. Come to find out they stabbed her bladder with a needle when a simple free-catch sample would have been appropriate and much less invasive. Meaning it would have been more fear free. When I spoke with the practice manager, she insisted that performing a cysto was "more fear free" than catching urine naturally. This is absurd. Poking my dog twice with needles (blood draw + cysto) and physically restraining her is not more fear free than one blood draw and collecting urine when she uses the restroom naturally. I also want to point out that it was probably more than two pokes considering I had heard her crying and she came back to the exam room panicked. The veterinarian himself was great. My only complaint is he told me he would have the bloodwork Wednesday and that he would give me a call. He never called, I had to call them the following Tuesday. Granted this time of year is difficult with holidays so I did give grace. He was very apologetic when he found out what happened and I do appreciate it. During the appointment, I overheard him correcting the technician's estimate to include proper radiology interpretation fees. When the technician came back with the updated estimate he didn't explain any of it. He just handed it to me. This experience was the opposite of fear free. My dog came out frantic and anxious, her first negative veterinary experience ever. This is exactly how dogs develop vet fears. To that technician I'm not upset about your lack of experience, we all start somewhere. I'm upset that you disregarded my input about my dog's care and failed to communicate what procedures you were performing. When you don't know something, ask a senior technician or the doctor for help. Imagine your dog going back and you have no idea what's happening, you hear her crying then days later you find out that an unnecessary procedure was done. Throwing new technicians into situations without proper oversight is unfair to them, the pets, and the owners. Training matters. And defending clearly incorrect practices (like claiming a cysto is more fear free than free-catch) undermines your fear-free certification. I had high hopes for this clinic. With a different, more experienced technician, this could have been a positive experience. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case, and I cannot recommend this clinic to other pet owners seeking genuine fear-free care. Lastly I want to add, I am fear free certified and worked as a technician in a fear free certified clinic. I know what is and what is not fear free. read more

While I had a great experience with Dr. Hall, my experience with Dr. Fernandez was unsatisfactory. I adopted a pitbull/German shepherd mix puppy from someone whose dogs accidentally had puppies; I was unsure of my puppy's age since the breeder couldn't remember the date of birth (she said it was April or May, which does make a huge difference). I took my pup in to get his shots, and Dr. Fernandez made a super condescending comment that, "we're about 4 weeks late" on the puppy vaccines. Ummm, okay, but I've had him about 2 weeks soooo... yeah. I can always take my business elsewhere and get an appointment faster if it is so urgent to him, but OKAY. And he proceeds to lecture me about how I need to cut my puppy's nails or he'll hurt the quick, speaking to me like I was a child. Look, I have cut my puppy's nails but the little guy grows like a weed so it had literally been 2 days. I was hesitant to use the heartworm medication that they recommended and I told them I would do more research on it because I just like to be informed of what exactly I'm giving my dog, especially if I haven't used it in the past. Which I don't think is a crime. We literally have information at our fingertips in this day and age and as a registered nurse, it's just something I've grown accustomed to doing in and outside of work. Because my puppy was an "accident," the breeder of course didn't do what certified breeders normally do, such as puppy vaccines and dewormer, and turns out my pup has worms. When I went to pick up the dewormer medication, I was treated like I was stupid, once again, with the vet tech using a permanent marker to mark on the syringe where I need to draw up the dewormer medication. I get that I may look young to a lot of people, but I'm actually a NICU nurse of almost 7 years now. I know how to use a syringe. If I had questions, I would most definitely ask. My past few visits have put a bad taste in my mouth, but we'll see how the following visits are. read more

We highly recommend Stone Oak Veterinary Clinic. Our dog was attacked by a Pitbull as shown below in May 2023, We rushed her to the clinic and within minutes she was in surgery to save her life. The healing process was brutal and emotional however with the friendly staff, extremely patient (the list goes on) they walked us through the daily therapy sessions at the clinic and many other factors. With the help of Stone Oak Veterinary clinic our baby is back, healthy, happy and wants to cuddle with her favorite humans. First time - waited over an hour after our appointment time to be seen, then an additional hour in the back before leaving. Second time- my wife waited over an hour, and had to leave. The third time, we paid over $300 for tests they said we should do, and it is two weeks later and we still have not heard back from them. This is not only ridiculously annoying, it's unsafe for dogs who are in pain and us as the parents who are anxiously waiting to hear how we can help our dogs in pain. read more

My veterinarian, Dr. Hall, was very knowledgeable and considerate of my cat's condition. She diagnosed her with a tumor under her tongue after my cat experienced losing weight and drooling. There were other things performed, but we decided (after long consideration) to perform euthanasia due to the fact that it was so far progressed. . They refused to groom my dog, charged me $57 for a bath (my dog weighs 10 pounds) and didn't call me to pick her up until 6pm...I had to drop her off at 9am! A very upsetting and unsettling experience for a family that considers our pet to be a loved and cared member. We had a sick visit walk-in appointment and our pet was taken to the back and evaluated. After the evaluation, the office told my elderly Father that they would not give him our Dog if he did not complete all the medical forms at that time. He was helping out by taking her and did not have access to this information. The office staff, including Christine, the manager, was unapologetic, argumentative and threatening over the phone. If we had known, my Father would not have taken our loved pet if he knew that ahead of time. I hope nobody else ever has to receive a call at work stating that their loved pet is being held hostage. Took my kitten to get her eye checked. Was misdiagnosed with feline herpes. When it was an upper respiratory infection. And contracted ringworm from the visit. She was fine when we got her and had no symptoms of ringworm until this week and it takes two-three weeks for the incubation period so I'm very sure she got it from here. The staff was nice and attentive but I'm very upset that I have to treat this ringworm and fix this upper respiratory infection she has when it should have been rightfully diagnosed the first time. read more

First time going here, I chose this place based on the reviews. There were 3 people working, the vet, vet tec and the receptionist. All three were excellent. After the initial exam, the vet recommended xrays and lab work, which we had to agree to before he did them. The prices were very reasonable. After xrays it was determined that we didn't need the lab work so the vet didn't charge us even though they had already drew the blood. The vet then walked us through the diagnosis and explained everything to us. The vet spent quality time with us and made sure all of our questions were answered. I highly recommend this place. I was able to chat with someone immediately via their website. Followed by a phone call from Front desk to schedule my appointment. Joann was able to accommodate us first thing in the morning! The prices are fair, the first exam is free, which seems to be a new thing vets are doing. That's nice, because it is hard to find a good fit. Dr Hall (I think was her name) was very nice, although she did promise to email me a prescription and forgot, but since I was a new patient, I guess that is understandable. The staff was (mostly, with one exception) very nice. What I didn't like was that for a dental they insist on keeping your pet the night before, instead of dropping him off in the morning. And the thing that made me decide to keep looking was their offer to give my dog 2 vaccines on the same day, (yikes, to me that is a no-no) but worse, the day I drop him off to go under anesthesia. I know other people are not as careful about vaccines as I am, but if you are, you might not find this place a good fit. They were thorough in other ways, I am sure this is a good practice in general. I would really like to find a holistic vet, but ummm, I live in Texas now. read more

I live close by and decided to give this place a chance. I called and the girls at the front desk were friendly and patient and knowledgeable about my questions for my dog. I booked an appointment within seconds and went the same day to take my pet for vaccines. When l entered the staff was attentive to help me and l went in for my dogs check up quick. The folks at vital pet are fantastic. From 2012-2018 we were regularly in the office as my dog had Addison's disease, requiring monthly visits to the vet. I can honestly say that the staff were genuine, friendly, helpful and kind. My dog passed at home earlier this year less than 24 hours before an appointment he was supposed to have. When I called to cancel the appointment I was in tears and the person answering the phone was compassionate and understanding despite me having to pause multiple times to explain the cancellation request. A few days later Dr. Fernandez called me to offer condolences and share his memories of my dog, and later that month I received a signed card from the staff. Each person specifically commented on my pets behavior and their memories of him from his frequent visits. It was a really hard time and I was really touched to have such a personal gesture from VitalPet staff. They went above and beyond and I really appreciate their professional service through the years and during this difficult time. read more
