I booked and communicated with Gretchen this NYE for my friend's surprise proposal. I had very…read morelittle information but was also surprising my friend with the photography session. We went to Longwood, while I'd been there before I didn't know how well it would photograph at night. I also had only about 2 weeks to get a photographer. Thankfully Gretchen was there to save us all! She offered a call to clarify about the plan and recommend locations to propose at for better photos as well. This proved to be super helpful considering both my friend's now fiance and I knew nothing about proposals. On the day of, she stayed in constant contact for the surprise photos and charged in the moment the proposal began. The couple received about 30 photos (granted they were at night with very little lighting) but she said that usually couples receive 50+ photos on sessions w good lighting.

Recently, a last minute audition came up that required a professional headshot, so I searched for…read moreheadshot photographers in the area and I found Paul Pruitt Photography. I called Paul, and he told me he could fit me in the next day at 5:30/6PM. Unfortunately, when the time of the appointment came, all contact was lost with him. I tried calling, texting, e-mail, he simply would not reply to any of them. Then, I went to his studio in Wilmington, and there was nobody there. It wouldn't be until two days later, only after I tracked down his personal Facebook and messaged him there, that I managed to get in contact with him. His reply was a simple, "I am having family issues, please find someone else." And that was it. Family issue or no, it was highly unprofessional of him to not give me the courtesy of at least letting me know that he would be unavailable so that I could find another headshot photographer in time. My only option became to submit a homemade headshot, which will most likely significantly decrease my chances of getting noticed by the casting directors. And the worst part is that he didn't even apologize. He might as well have said "f*** off." This man is unreliable, untrustworthy, inconsiderate, and clearly does not care about his customers. He had the audacity to set an appointment and completely shrug me off until it was too late. I can't even tell if his "family issues" story is real, as his Facebook wall suggested he was happily watching the Super Bowl while I was desperately trying to contact him. Regardless, the simple fact of the matter is that I relied on him, and he screwed me over. My audition might as well be ruined. This is simply not good business practice. If you want a trustworthy photographer who cares about his customers and who will keep his appointments, I highly recommend you find someone else.

From the first time we met with him I loved his positive energy, passion for what he does, and not to mention, his WORK! He very professional and although extremely busy he is always quick to respond to emails and calls so he has been super easy to do business with. Last week we did our engagement photos and Paul, he was super fun to work with! He was very flexible and allowed us to shoot or pictures at two different locations, brought a second photographer, and great lighting equipment which was perfect for our evening shoot. He wowed us with his creative eye and unique ideas (no cheesy pintrest stuff here!). I cannot wait to see the final product and looking forward to working with him at our wedding. I also know that Paul teaches workshops at his studio in Wilmington for weddings, portraits, lighting, etc - great to know that MY photographer is teaching others to do great work!
