Easily one of the worst golf courses in Massachusetts. Great practice course for a quick weekday round. I played solo before work and I'll do it again. Greens are in pretty good shape. Tee boxes not so good. At $30 with a cart, you can zip around this place. Come up on someone slow who doesn't understand "playing through"...skip a hole. I used to come here in the 90s and early 2000s, haven't been in years... Price has increased to $17 but honestly it should cost maybe $2.. the conditions in 2020 are absolutely abysmal. The entire course other than the greens are basically a sand trap. Rough Is over grown.. crab grass on the greens, the tee boxes are absolute trash.. I was so ashamed to bring someone here, and I feel bad the place I learned to play golf at has fallen to such disrepair.. even at $17 it's a tragic mess. My fiancé and I had the BEST time out there today!! As a beginner, I was a bit worried about being paired with someone else or another two-some and they were SO accommodating in finding a time (and even switching our initial tee time) for us to do so. Having done one other Par 3 course before, I felt like this course had the types of hazards you'd see on an 18 hole course. Hills, and views for days, you cannot beat this place for the price and proximity to Boston. A++ we will absolutely be back to hone our skills :) by the way, they had a little pro shop and my fiancé bought a very reasonably priced titlest hat!! what a hidden gem this course is! don't walk, RUN! so much fun on a hot summer day! read more

Writing this review for my husband; Stoneham Oaks is a nice little course for the money (good value). It has definitely improved over the past two seasons. Dennis who runs Unicorn and the oaks is very welcoming and accommodating to newer golfers and provides occasional golf tips as well. read more

The Positives: This course is very short (even for a par 3), which makes it a welcoming course for newcomers and likely kids as well. Golf is not a welcoming sport, so this place fills a needed niche. Took a bachelor party here and about half of our group was either brand new to golf or close to it and we had an enjoyable experience. In an area where booking tee times is difficult, Stoneham Oaks is also an easier place to book. The Negatives: The course itself is horrendous and may be the worst course I have played. The tee boxes are similar to sand traps and the holes have no signage indicating what hole you are on or distances to the pin. How short this course is can also be a negative if you are expecting something similar to an executive course. The longest club I used was an 8 iron and I am not particularly good or experienced. This course also runs a little expensive for any par 3 course, let alone a shorter low quality one. Overall: This course fills a needed niche for players that are new to golf or as a place where one can get their kids out on the course. If this applies to anyone in your group, I'd recommend it. If not, you may be disappointed by the low quality of the course and shortness of every hole. read more

The staff is great. The course is interesting. You could get away with 3 clubs in your bag, but that comes with a par-3 course. Greens are surprisingly decent...anything off the green and particularly tee boxes weren't the best. For the price you pay it's good value if you're looking for practice swings. I'm definitely a newer golfer. I've played about a year and have played some really nice 18 hole golf courses. I wanted to play a Par 3 to practice. Let me just clarify something though. I'm a woman. Not that this should matter, but for this story, it does. So we played a round and after the 9 holes, we decided to ask if we could replay. The woman was SUPER nice and I would give her 5 stars! She fit us back in. There was a HUGE backup and there was a group of 4 young guys who were sharing clubs and clearly never played (which is fine and expected...) this course is advertised as good for beginners! It took us quite some time to get started again (4 group back up...) again, no problem. We moved as quick as we could through the first two holes. We couldn't move very quickly because of the large back up. We got to the third, and I crushed my ball off the tee, it was a great hit. And then this guy who worked there came up to me and said "I mean no disrespect, but do you want to hit from the front tees?" I said no, I intended to hit from the back tees. At first I thought maybe he was just letting me know there are front and back tees, but I realized he was suggesting it because women usually play on the front tees, but I'm good enough to play on the back. It was extremely offensive because there were PLENTY of people who were much slower than me in front of us, and your employees should NEVER assume that women can't play the back tees. If I was at a longer course and I couldn't hit the length and was the reason the course was backed up, then absolutely I would make sure I'm playing up to pace. But when we were held up from the get go, and he comes up to me assuming as a woman I can't play the back tee... that to me is so rude.. and I know men don't always respect women in golf. But I really hope the employee who said that never does this to another woman. I really enjoy golf and never want to feel like that again. He won't keep me from golfing here or anywhere. But I hope no other woman feels like this. You want to play off the back tee? Do it. read more

I always have good times when I go to this place! The course is perfect to be played when learning. Each hole presents a different challenge and you don't feel like your going to hit people playing on the next hole! You only need irons if your level is above average. Greens are well maintained and you really feel cozy playing in the middle of the forest. In the summer, many cute bunnies are hopping around making the game even more enjoyable! Last, after having played in multiple places close to Boston, this is probably one of the best for this price (replay package is very interesting). read more

All you can play Par 3 course with a good variety of distances. Definitely a winner. Relative to what you are paying, the conditions of the course is pretty good. Can easily make a 1 hour run, or 1.5 if you playing multiple balls. Better than a bucket of balls, i say. read more

It's a tad harder than you'd think. And super hilly! We walked. Good exercise. A range of super short and a few regular short. Play went quickly even though we had someone in front of us. This place should get more attention. Cheap to play and a fantastic place to practice. Longest hole is probably 180 from the whites and the rest are most short 120s on average. Very smooth greens but sometimes there are more balls marks than normal. A plus is the unlimited free replay during the week. Take a day off, play 3 or 4 rounds and grab a beer and a Reuben at the Irish bar around the corner. 5 stars because this place is way above expectations for a pseudo chip and putt. read more

Tried this place the other day because it was close to home. Great place for beginners or if you want to get a quick round in by yourself. Furthers hole was 170 yards or so but most are around 100 yards. Don't suggest getting a cart because it's an addition $9 and the holes are so short it's a waste of money. As far as maintenance it was okay definitely some very long grass in the fairway but it happens. read more

What a nice little gem of a par 3. The staff (of one) was very friendly; he has the right attitude of just keeping it fun. The course was in surprisingly decent shape. It's tiny; if it takes you an hour, that'd be a slow round. I played two balls, and even looped back to the third hole (from the fifth) when it slowed down. Still finished in just over an hour. My bad I guess... Tiny very tiny sign in ball point pen said that the course was being worked on this day. I didn't see the sign. No one said anything. One of the best par 3 course in the area. Beginners to high level players can enjoy this course--- not too long, but challenging and pretty narrow; your shots will have to be straight. Wish I could give more stars. Great course for beginners and experienced golfers alike. Just what you need after work...a quick 9 holes for a great price and never a crowd. Last time I brought my sister for her first time, and after we mentioned that she wanted to get into golf to one of the managers (I think her name is Cindy). She actually went out of her way to help me find a great set of starter ladies clubs a few days later in Boston. Great course and staff that truly cares! read more

My husband decided to go golfing this past weekend. He decided to try out stoneham oaks golf course because it is local to our home. Once arriving he was greeted by a woman named Cindy who was ever so helpful. She got him set up with a golf cart, golf balls, and also encouraged him to sign up for the beginners golf course they offer. Knowing it was his first time she also gave him the lay of the land in regards to the course and offered a map. Since my husband is new to golfing, it was great to see that Cindy took the time to assist him. I am looking forward to my first visit there and my husband can not wait to go back! read more

Played here yesterday with my son, usually isn't a bad place to get work on your irons. I guess its under new management. They seem nice enough but $17 for this very short yardage 9 hole par 3 course is way too expensive. I realized they just opened up but most greens were like a shag carpet, tough to putt on. They could have given a price break until its up to par. Might try it again but doubt it. read more
