Maybe drives and people are the same...the harder you try, the worse the shot ends up. (Tee boxes and fairways are great here. Tee boxes were aerated recently, but plugs were all gone. Center cut of fairways is narrow in places, but that makes it fun!) Playing from the tips, I can score in the 80's here, but scoring a long term friendship with people I care about seems to evade me. (Low scores at this course are generated by playing smart. With lots of creeks and water your shot selection needs to include several layups and specific yardages to put you in a good position to hit the green.) I can usually read a green better than I can read a person. However, the greens here are tough. You first think it will go left, but then you walk it and maybe it will go right, so you don't give up the cup and run it 4 feet past the hole to the right. (Sometimes you just have to go for it, even if failure is imminent.) A lot of people don't understand golf. A lot of people don't like golf, or those that play. That's ok...I don't understand a lot of people. Love the bridges, scenic views, and an obviously well cared for track.

The gnats were awful and at about half way through some guy who said he was the owner tells us we were taking to long. but he was so rude about it. From the very being He talked to us like he was so annoyed with us. First, he was giving us a hard time because we only had one golf bag, which I'm not sure why it would be an issue. Then he told us we were holding up other people which we weren't. We let everybody pass us. He made no attempt to peacefully resolve any problem(s) he may have had with us. We told him we weren't coming back, and he said "That's fine. You're not welcomed here." So we paid for 18 hole, but barely played 9. So when we made it back to the pro shop, we felt like we deserved some kind of Reimbursement. But the young man behind the counter told us that the owner had already called ahead and told him not to Reimburse us. Should they ask. I'll never recommend anyone to Rozella. Which is to bad because a month ago I would have said Rozella is the best place to golf in this county. But not anymore.

I NEVER received any confirmation text or call that it would be holiday rates when I made the tee times. Oh, except after I first got there and told this verbally, I magically received a text at 7:42 that it would be holiday rates! I asked about any kind of discount or break on the price and was told emphatically nothing they could do! And I called other golf courses around and no one else seems to be charging holiday rates. The initial reservation was made for 8 over two months prior to the event and an additional grouping was later added 3 weeks before the event. Less than 2 weeks prior to the event, I got a call from 'Jim' at South Shore saying that a mistake had been made and they now had a large outing and they were cancelling our small outing. I complained and Jim said he'd try and work something out but never bothered to call back. Bad business for sure! Fortunately, Stonehenge CG of Winona Lake saved the day for us.
