As someone who struggles with meeting new people, who is introverted, and has a bit of social anxiety, I was very nervous to attend my first driving lesson service. The entire first drive with my wonderful driving instructor, Kathleen Hardison, was pretty difficult for me. Although Kathleen had made me feel more comfortable socially with her quirky and kind personality, I was nervous to be behind the wheel and be responsible for driving safely. I was focusing too heavily on being a perfect driving when I wasn't even sure how to do push and pull turns. Focusing on this heavy amount of stress the entire first lesson made it hard for me to learn more than what I knew prior to starting the lesson. The second lesson, the situation lightened up AFTER I had a nervous breakdown in the parking lot I was practicing in and Kathleen served as a great mentor to me who shared tears and positive messages with me. Due to a car crash I had been involved in a few years prior, I had discovered that this trauma was causing me to be such a nervous wreck while driving the vehicle. I told this to Kathleen, she understood me, and even shared her personal stories with me about her experiences. Her willingness to be open with me immensely benefited my ability to obtain the ability to drive a vehicle. I encourage future driving students to be open with their instructors if they have something traumatic in their past inhibiting them to do well - because opening up to Kathleen really paid off. The second lesson was where her and I decided to take it back from the beginning so that I could feel comfortable driving and so that I could finally feel that I am completely in control of the vehicle. Looking onto the future that day, I felt that I was definitely not going to pass my driving school test come lesson four. I felt that starting back at the basics of driving was not going to allow enough time for me to conquer driving in time. With the guidance of Kathleen and the way that Stop and Go Driving School is set up, I was able to conquer and overcome the anxiety I had when driving and when I took the driver's licensing test, I did in fact pass. Kathleen was immensely proud of me for overcoming so much in only 4 lessons and made me feel great upon accomplishing such a huge task. Kathleen is a unique, kind, patient individual with a personality that I will never forget. The experiences I received in four driving lessons will stick with me forever because they had such a strong impact on me. Her personality, knowledge, and ability to teach is what led me to be able to become comfortable with driving and make my loved ones proud. In my opinion, the staff are what make a business strong and efficient, Kathleen, Volker, and the other members that I met briefly are what make Stop and Go Driving School a great business. Great school. Friendly staff, and an easy to follow curriculum. I recently received a non-criminal speeding violation and opted-in to taking Stop and Go's Defensive driving course in an attempt to have the violation waived. I was happy to learn after scheduling my in class course, that there were no tests given throughout the program. Rather then sticking to the old way of testing us on our knowledge with pen and paper, I was told that students are asked to participate in the curriculum's "game-based" learning style. Seeing as I am not the best test taker, this helped relieve some of my anxiety about getting my ticket dismissed, and allowed for me to really sit back and take in the information provided. The curriculum was delivered in a fun, "jeopardy" style format which genuinely took my attention away from the fact that I had to sit through an 8 hour course on a Saturday :). We were broken up into groups and played jeopardy just like you would on TV, only with the curriculum's defensive driving questions. This was a fun twist on learning, and really changed my view on classrooms in general, which I had previously believed to be anything but fun. My Instructor, Paul, really seemed like he enjoyed his job, and it made me really want to pay attention and learn what he was teaching. It didn't feel anything like how high school used to feel, in fact, if any of my old high school teachers had half the charisma as did Paul, I probably would have graduated with honors . Overall, I was greatly pleased with Stop and Go's professionalism, and all around passion for what they do. My daughter is 15, and will soon need to go through a driver education program; after seeing the way Stop and Go operates, I will without a doubt will be sending her through them. In a world of greedy corporations doing anything and everything to make a dollar, it's nice to see a company like this that genuinely cares about their customers and making a difference in their lives. This was a wonderful experience. It was everything I wanted and more :) If you want to get experience driving and working through your issues, improving while practicing, Ben is an excellent instructor. He really is passionate about driving and is fun, helpful, and super chill. Ben helped me improve my skills and to figure out what areas I needed to work on, and let me drive on the freeway, and in trafficky areas that would have worried me just a week prior. He is awesome, he took me to a place where you could make a left turn on a red, and his enthusiasm for such a thing was awesome. I think it is pretty cool too, like some kind of rare beast. Gaining confidence and the ability to watch and read situations ahead of time was and will continue to be valuable to me. I'm not a perfect driver, but I now have the skills and the confidence to drive safely and efficiently. When it comes down to it, I was looking for an experience that would help me get comfortable driving and would work out the kinks in my habits/lack of habits. Ben provided that experience in a fun and helpful environment, and I never felt like I was in danger while driving with him. (that being said, don't go out of your way to do something dumb. Safety is your responsibility as the driver, as there is only so much your instructor can do if you make poor decisions) I highly recommend Ben and Stop and Go for gaining the confidence and experience you need to succeed. However, do make sure to practice outside of your lessons, and try to keep all your lessons with the same instructor. (unless you find out you don't jive with that instructor, in which case you should switch) Ben is awesome and incredibly prompt and really works hard to help his students overcome their challenges. Thank you Stop and Go! Amazing service and training! My daughter learned a ton of skills! I actually cannot say enough good things about this driving service! If you have time to read, here are my thoughts: Permit School - SO worth it! My daughter did not pass her test the first time. Then, I heard about Stop and Go's permit driving school; she passed without studying again. She really learned the material...so much better taught by an instructor and with videos...they remember it! Driving School - Blown away by what our daughter learned and learned so quickly. These drivers are so well trained and do this everyday...so they know what to teach our kids and are up on all the rules! Our daughter's confidence soared after her first 3-hour drive and was SO improved after her second 3-hour session. I can now drive with her and not be white knuckled! Worth every penny! Volker, what a teacher! We spoke on the phone after and he gave me a summary on what to help our daughter with! Alive at 25 - Another great 4-hour class, and only $25 with your driving package...SO WORTH going!! What they taught our daughter, we could never come up with or would she listen as well! Gold Package - I think this is the best value and really teaches your kids how to drive, plus covers all the driving schools and getting your license! I relocated from New York City. I never needed to learn to drive in New York but knew that transportation options in the development I planned to move into 20 miles out of Tucson were non-existent. I attempted to overcome my severe driving phobia pre-move and managed to flunk the New York road test six times! I moved anyway, depending like Blanche DuBois in "A Streetcar Named Desire" on the kindness of strangers to get to the grocery store, pharmacy, Costco, etc. After several years of bumming rides, I found that the Stop and Go Driving School was now venturing into the hinterlands where I lived for pick up and drop off. I purchased the Bronze package of 5 lessons. The school takes its responsibility seriously. After each lesson I was emailed a report card which detailed the tasks that had been assigned and how I performed. My instructor, Deborah Smith, also added a comment at the end which was always supportive, encouraging, and positive. Because Arizona certifies Stop and Go for road tests, I got to take my road test with Deborah, and the overwhelming anxiety I had experienced during my prior road tests (with nasty New York examiners) vanished. I had my happy ending at last and passed my road test with 5 points to spare! I could not recommend this school, or Deborah Smith, more highly. read more

I have held customer service positions since I was of age to work. Stop and go has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I completed my court ordered class with them in May. The instructor advised that documentation would be submitted to the MVD that same day. Last week, I received a letter from the City of Scottsdale notifying me that MVD never received any proof of completion and that I was being summoned. I spoke to a Stop and Go representative, Diamond, who was unprofessional to say the least. While explaining my situation to her, she interrupted me with "I'll wait," instead of hearing me out and expressing concern. When I asked her to resend my certificate to the MVD she told me "We don't do that. It is your responsibility to keep track of that," in the rudest tone she could muster. I thought my situation was behind me in May. I did not enjoy receiving a court summons three months after the fact for non-compliance because Stop and Go did not submit the necessary documentation. Although I was ordered by the city to attend traffic survival school, I did not have to attend Stop and Go. I am still a paying customer and deserve efficient and cordial service. You deserve the same. Please do not give your business to Stop and Go Traffic School. read more

I recently finished my Platinum driving course with Stop and Go Driving School, and the experience was a completely positive one. I went into the course already knowing a bit about how to drive, yet, I still learned a lot that I was not aware of before. I think anyone, from a teen who's never even sat in the driver's seat to a person who is almost completely comfortable driving could benefit by getting licensed though this course. Rules are detailed but not unreasonably rigid and you are given the practical reasons behind each one. The car is great for learning, as it shows your exact speed and other helpful features for a learning driver. My instructor, Mike, was knowledgeable, friendly and thorough. Everyone who worked at the Stop and Go office was very nice and a pleasure to speak to-- and congratulatory when I passed my test, too. So much hassle was saved for me by Stop and Go's convenient one-stop licensing service. I was tested and taken directly to get my license, no DMV experience required! I've heard a couple of experiences from friends about other local driving schools and neither of them have been on par with my Stop and Go experience in any way. Would definitely recommend this driving school to anyone looking for one in the Valley. read more

Gary (G.e.) is an excellent instructor! He is very kind, professional, patient, and knowledgeable. Having not driven in 5 years, Gary was aware of my anxiety and fears on the road and always had a calm demeanor when teaching and guiding me, especially in high traffic areas and streets filled with construction. He is very informative and made sure to educate me about traffic laws and regulations, defensive driving skills, vehicle control, etc.. Gary's consistent positive reinforcement and encouragement during each lesson helped me gain confidence while driving. While I was thrilled to earn my driver license, I was admittedly sad that I would no longer have any driving lessons with Gary. Not only is Gary a fantastic instructor, but also an extremely kind and genuine person. I am very grateful to have gotten to know him and feel that I gained a friend through this process. For several years I have felt that I was not capable of driving due to the extreme anxiety I regularly experienced any time I would attempt to drive, but I am relieved that those doubts and fears I have carried for years have now diminished. It a really responsible and reliable driving school. Every appointment and schedule goes smoothly. They also really care about every student and listen to every feedback. If you meet any problems during course, don't worry talk to them and they will try their best to solve it. My first instructor is Naya,unfortunately I didn't go very well with her and I think she miss many important part during class. Then I communicate with manager at this driving school, he is really patient and solve my problem perfectly! He offer me extra free class and send me the best instructor ,Angine, at driving school, who I would like to highly recommend! Angine is the best instructor at driving school. He is really experienceful and helpful. What's most important is that he can figure out what's most important things and key limitation for student driver and can emphasis this information at very beginning in a comfortable way. This is my review on the 30 hour permit course. Recently, I was sitting out in the heat waiting for the bus when I realized that I can't do this anymore and it is time for me to face my fear. So what did I do? Right there and then, I decided to cough up the money and enroll into their 30 hour permit course. Now, I am NOT done with the course yet. I am in to lesson 11 now and I am finding it super informational and slightly lessens my anxiety. I have looked into Stop and Go Driving School for a while now. I started looking into driving schools after I attempted to learn with a family friend - back when I had my permit - and it went horrible. The person was impatient, I had severe anxiety, and assumed that I would be able to catch on to maneuvering a vehicle as easily as her daughter did. To say the least, it has taken me two years to muster up the courage to learn how to drive after an unsuccessful attempt. I have severe anxiety and these reviews really help me feel confident in the decision I made by chosing this school. Let's hope my future instructor is patient, calm, and supportive. As for the permit course, they really go into depth and the videos and statistics are helpful. Learning to drive is no joke. read more

I had signed up for a three-hour driving lesson and was scheduled to take lessons from Hector. Hector was very unforgiving and constantly insulted me the entire time I was driving. He was very impatient during the 3-hour driving lesson and made the 3-hours seem rather long with me wishing that it was over faster. We didn't end up using the entire 3-hours due to him being late and having me pull over at a gas station where it took him a while to return to the car. His instructions were frequently vague and he would yell at me when I tried to pull forward a little since I could not see over the trees. He would slam on the brake when I was gently trying to brake, and would only give me a moments notice when he wanted me to pull over somewhere to practice parking and then would get upset when I was not able to pull over. Him insulting me made the job stressful and made it harder to concentrate on driving. I would recommend going elsewhere where the driver respects you and is actually interested in helping you get better with your driving. read more

I sent my son through this school and have had nothing but great experience,s with Christine, who took my call to Lynda who taught the classroom and Kathleen who instructed my son. After his first class he was so confident and wanting to drive more. I was very impressed with his knowledge of on the road laws. His driving instructor had him reading the signs out loud and explaining the meaning to saying check every time he checked his mirrors. Everything she taught him, she explained why he was doing it that way i.e. dangerous to defensive. My sons favorite saying is "everyone loves Oreos, but know one wants to be the center of an Oreo" in regards to keeping a space cushion at red lights and stop signs, he still says that when he is coming to a stop... I just want to thank Christine, Lynda and Kathleen for the wonderful experience my son and myself have had. I am now a mom who feels confident about my son driving in the valley! read more

I would like to thank Angel and Doug for taking the time to teach me how to feel comfortable behind the wheel and really believing in me! They not only boosted my confidence level, but taught me how to be in control and observant when it comes to my surroundings. I went out with Doug twice and I wasn't too happy with leaving him because he was just amazing, but I met Angel today and WOW he's also amazing. I was confident with Angel after only being with him for like ten minutes. I knew I was in good hands! Doug taught me the basics and lead me to the finish line, while Angel is teaching me how to cross it! They not only taught me how to pass the test, but to be a safe driver after I get my license. I just got my license today! After putting the driving lessons and exams for too long, unforseen circumstances pushed me to take the plunge and do it. Special shoutout to my instructor Ben. He knows how to put your mind at ease. He knows how to be build your confidence and when to push you to your limits. He gave me challenges that I thought I would never make it, but with his guidance, I did and it sure skyrocketed my self confidence. His being clairvoyant helped a lot too to lighten the mood. I would highly recommend this school to anyone of any age. They have lots of instructors to accomodate your need or in my case my "fear". Thank you to the staff there for being so accomodating. Getting a license in AZ is not as undemanding in the country I am originally from. Here you have to go by the rules and have to be safe and sound. From the at least 5 driving schools I made a phone call on, this school sounded not only good but also very assuring that they will help me become a safe, sound and most importantly responsible driver. I signed myself up for the 5-lesson pack with the curiosity on how exactly I am supposed to drive in AZ as opposed to my home country. I started the first lesson with some kind of nerves....with a laid-back but quite a proficient driving teacher, nerves were traded with buoyancy...He made everything easy and fun. I took the road test after doing the rest of my lessons, and PASSED IT! To the Professional Driving School, YOU ARE THE BEST! I have recommended you folks to my co-nurses and friends. I had a great experience with Stop and Go Driving School and especially with my instructor, Rochelle. Four weeks ago, I had never even been behind the wheel of a car and today I passed my driving test and even drove on the freeway! I was especially nervous being an older student (mid-30's) and had honestly planned on never learning to drive. Moving to Arizona meant that avoiding driving was no longer an option. From day one, Rochelle was patient, encouraging, and a great teacher. She explained everything very clearly and pushed me when I wasn't sure I was ready for something, but she knew I was. I never thought I would be so comfortable driving in such a short period of time, but thanks to Rochelle I know I can safely drive my 10-month old baby around with confidence. I purchased the gold package and was given a schedule to follow through. The instructor would drive directly to your house in a timely manner and then give you the wheel. Glaydia was my instructor and she did a good job of teaching me while giving a lot of enthusiasm. I ended up passing the final road test, which just shows how much the experience matters considering I was severely inexperienced before even signing up for this program. They will judge on how you perform during practice sessions, and give their final judgement on whether you should actually take the exam or not. The people at Stop and Go give their best effort in order to keep students safe. I highly recommend taking the courses that they provide, and choose the best package that fits right for you. read more

I attended the classroom training initially as I am new to the USA. The class was useful as the tutor (trainer?) provided information about what to do when things go wring like a flat tire, engine fire, sand storm etc. The 6 hour session was informative. Then I scheduled a driving lesson. The instructor Brad was very helpful. He came to the apartment where I live and we started with the neighbourhood. He helped me get my confidence and taught the basics pretty quick. He put me at ease and by the second driving session, I was confident enough to parallel park. This school helped me out a lot! I've had problems getting my license for the last two years but with this school, I was able to get it in just one month! The instructors such as Benjamin really walked me through the driving process with detailed instructions. He was really patient and polite, while going above and beyond to make sure that I was comfortable. If you are thinking about taking the driving school, I recommend the gold package. Not only did I get my extensive 11 hours of in car training, once I completed the test, I was able to go home with my license in hand the same day!
