July 4th sale on lobsters ($9.99) and tons of managers specials - burger meet, wings, hot dogs. Be aware that while you'll save a few dollars buying the precooked lobsters and lower mess, the vats here are so big and hot they must flash cook them! Some claw and tail meat dry but still good.

This is a store I visit frequently. I do like the new look after a major face lift, but felt the old store was fine, and $ could have been saved. The store selection is great, the new coffee shop corner is wonderful, and who needs Starbucks??? The produce section is my favorite, so are ALL the employees. Everyone wants to help, staff is friendly. Who doesn't like a tap on the shoulder from an employee you have not seen in a while and a hug. One man in produce is from Texas and knows my daughter is at school in TX and always says how Y'all doing? I love the atmosphere. One tip: Deli counter has a great selection of pre cut cold cuts, but if you need something that is not pre cut wait can be 20min, as it was for me this past Saturday. Otherwise A+

Even with a Big Y and a Shop Rite nearby, we consistently end up here every Sunday. Sure, there are better buys at the competitors every once in a while, but because of their overall consistency, this is where we end up. Bakery is usually stocked with muffins, rolls, etc. The meat department is large with some good values. Frozen food section is immense. Produce and salad bar are very dependable, even if the salad bar isn't always stocked early on the weekends. Dairy section is good with lots of yogurts at sale prices just about every week. Friendly folks at the Pharmacy too. They have a bargain aisle, and some marked down racks for the bargain hunters. Lines can get a bit crazy at times, but the front people are personable and you get a bagger most of the time. Bonus points for carrying the New York Post all the time. One pet peeve of mine, you used to get a nickel credit for every bag you brought with you. Not anymore.

Big and beautiful. A great grocery store and we especially like the meat selection. Good for flowers and holiday goodies too!

Their service has really gone down hill. The floral and front end are the best. The store manager Mr. Maggi is arrogant and condescending

Understaffed with rude employees who will not help a mom with a toddler. Will never shop here again.

We don't have a seafood place locally so I was intrigued when Big Y started promoting a fried…read moreseafood opportunity at its store here in town. So I tried it. This is not on the same level as my all-time favorite fried seafood restaurant, Lenny and Joes, but it's also less than a mile from my house and not an hour down to the coastline. Overall, I think that this is a very good fried seafood plate. There are ample fried shrimp, fried scallops, and fried white fish. The batter is light and not greasy. The fries and onion rings are really very good. It also comes with plenty of tartar sauce and ketchup. The Captain's Combo is $25, the bit smaller version is $18, both a good value and delicious for the price! Go to the seafood department at Big Y, takes about 15 minutes to get the take out.

The store carries Kayem hotdog products in other flavors, so I thought this would be an easy request. Backstory.... Red hot dogs are a popular item in Maine. Originally manufactured by Jordan's in Maine, Jordan's was recently sold to Kayem, who supplies big grocery chains with the different hotdog's, including red hotdogs. Back to the review... Without the meat manager/order placer saying he would first check with his supplier, he just answered no, and didn't even suggest what other stores I could possibly purchase or an alternative suggestion. I'm thinking maybe this meat manager needs to be retrained with a little bit better customer service skills. I would think it would be pretty easy to just ask your distributor, especially since you are a big seller of their product. And I think Kayem would gladly supply Big Y with their request. I am quite disappointed with the way this was handled. Stop & Shop is just up the street. I think I'll start spending my hard earned money there Maybe Geisler's or Fitzgerald's can order them for me

It's clean, spacious, has a robotic inventory machine, seems to be organized well, and staff seemed to enjoy their jobs. There is a small flower and plant section, bakery, deli, along with the usual pantry items. Perhaps it's because we went first thing on a weekend but I liked it! And I would rather purchase meat and seafood here than at a Stop and Shop. Sign up for the loyalty card and get those digital coupons. There are also the usual self checkout lanes, with the regular staffed lines. It's also located in a convenient complex with quite a few retail shops and a Panera. Most likely as the throngs of shoppers descend, the experience will degrade accordingly.

They also own Price Rite, which was a very affordable grocery store I used to go to in Rhode Island. This place reminded me of Publix in Florida. There were plenty of cash registers open and I love the self checkouts. The store was large and clean. The bakery section had baked fresh items. I loved the prepared foods section; the smell made me salivate. Pro tip: don't go there hungry. They had rotisserie chicken, prepared sides, sushi, and fresh produce. If you want to preorder a cake, download their app and schedule a pickup. I think the prices were comparable to other standard grocery stores nearby. Overall, a good market to get all your grocery shopping needs.

The outside area had various plants. When I walked inside, it was spacious and a very organized store. They had jams, snacks, produce, pies, baked goods, etc. I was gretted by the friendly employees. On this visit, I purchased strawberry-rhubarb jam, cookies, an onion, and corn muffin. Those were all very fresh and tasty. Everything in the store was fresh looking. I saw the corn after but was already out the door so I'm looking forward to going back for that.

On our first visit we ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich and Wild Turkey. The service was so good, all of the guys behind the deli made sure everyone was promptly assisted. When I lifted the bag of our 2 sandwiches, it was as heavy as a brick!! The sandwiches were so big we split one for lunch and one for dinner. The winner was the pulled pork, but we loved the turkey too. We returned a couple of days later for another pulled pork sandwich and I also ordered a giant dill pickle I saw on the counter. This place also has a huge selection of raw meats and prepared foods and a bunch of random local goodies and sauces to try. Again, I wish I took a picture of my sandwich, but I forgot about the existence of my phone while I was enjoying it :)

So the counter person took them back up to the register to check the prices, they were in the $23 & $24 range for 14 ounces. That's double the price I pay for ground venison and ground elk at the Litchfield Locker, the prices there are $11.99/lb (venison) & 10.99/lb (elk) respectively. So, needless to say, I just wasn't interested in being fleeced, no thanks. I won't be returning.
