I'll start off by saying I work for a competitor , who offers associate discounts. What a tremendous job they do here and I drive over a 1/2 hour to get there. That's how much I love the store. Everyone is friendly and willing to help and I'm not bothering them while they work. My cashier today spotted a dented can that I missed and she wouldn't let me take it. It's wonderful to see this attention to detail. I am calling her out simply because it's virtually impossible to get and never mind keep people like this. I shop here most every week because this store carries things I want that my own store no longer does.

Awesome salad bar, at ShopRite in Canton, CT.

Stopped in today to pick up a gift card for my In-Laws, who live in Jersey (there are many more ShopRites in NJ than CT). Noticed a really nice-looking salad bar, so I made up an awesome lunch for myself. It's hard to find a decent salad bar in supermarkets anymore, but ShopRite in Canton definitely has one. I'll be stopping in more often, just for the salad bar, if I'm in the area.

Look at what Shop-Rite is offering! And made right here in Connecticut!

Shop-Rite has been steadily growing its organic, vegan, gluten-free and healthy alternative options over the past few years. So how delightful was it to walk in this afternoon and find a dozen booths set up showcasing these types of foods made right here in Connecticut! The folks who manned the booths were friendly and knowledgeable, and I found a treasure: Curt's Classic onion rings. Never fried, organic, vegan, non-GMO and gluten-free, and delicious! Sure do hope Shop-Rite continues in this direction. So exciting!

Great atmosphere! I love the donuts. I lost my receipt and still was able to return my order.

These days it's hard to find a cafe that isn't overpriced and better than just average. But Toasted Oat hits the high points of quality of cook on the food, even if the ingredients may not all be top notch. They have breakfast sandwiches, bowls and scrambles, as well as regular sandwiches, salads and burritos. We enjoyed the regular breakfast sandwich with spinach and cheese (subbed the meat but wish the spinach had been cooked in - $7) and the breakfast scramble which included 2 eggs, 3 veggies, cheese, protein all mixed/cut up together, as well as hash brown (didn't exactly look homemade?) and toast ($11). Everything was served in to-go containers so the looks weren't the best but makes sense given the place and that most people probably don't dine in. You order at the counter and they bring you your food. Everything takes time to come out so you know it's done to order. They also have some coffee and tea. They had a few coffee cake items in a glass display but didn't look homemade either. It feels like a cafe should have more selection of pastries but again bother me. Service was friendly and patient. The actual location isn't that great visually either. There is one longer table and a few smaller ones, but it's not a big place and not decorated to impress (fine by me!) It is located in a small nondescript plaza with an Indian market. Small parking lot. Wish this small business well!

I moved back east not long ago, and finally got the chance to check out Blue House Bagels in July…read more Since then, I have been coming here (quite literally) every weekend. First, the staff are amazing here, they are friendly and kind and always keep up a good vibe and attitude no matter how packed or busy the place gets (and trust me, it gets PACKED). The interior of this place is adorable, and feels like you're really stepping into an old preserved colonial home. The bagels are always fresh, and due to the sourdough they don't cause any bloating or make you feel stuffed in a bad way. They're always coming up with new combinations and flavors and it's hard sometimes to know what to pick but I am not complaining! The biggest thing to keep in mind is get here early if you can, as they don't have much parking (you can sometimes find parking in the small lot next door). I am a huge bagel breakfast sandwich fan, and I can see myself coming here every weekend for a very, VERY long time. If you get the chance, grab some of their starter that they sell in house, on Amazon, or even at Shoprite in Canton if they still have their display going! Keep doing what youre doing Blue House Bagels, you guys have it right.

The Blue House Bagel Co. was another business I had unreasonably gargantuan expectations for. I…read morehave wanted to visit for a very long time, and heard extremely positive things about it. Never mind its awards. So when I finally went this morning, I was afraid the bar was set at a level it couldn't possibly live up to. Somehow, it still blew me away. It's an adorable building (yes, it is a blue house). The side door main entrance was open and clearly marked, and then the layout inside was so well thought out and it couldn't have been easier to navigate as a first time customer. I had a pretty good idea of wanted I wanted ahead of time, and was just hoping that even though it was a weekday, they weren't already sold out of anything (I know they get extremely busy and have a very devoted following). They had been posting a lot about their Egyptian dukkah bagels. I love dukkah (they use cardamom, sesame seed, clove, paprika, fennel & E.V.O.O.), so I ordered that as my bagel choice for their Blue House sandwich. They have many brilliant sandwich options as well as the option to build your own. They also have many house made schmears, pastries and other goodies. They even do stuffed bagels. I believe they are a completely, if not predominantly, sourdough based bakery. So my sandwich, the Blue House, had egg, white cheddar, heirloom tomato, greens, and herb aioli. Watching them make the sandwich was incredible and a treat in itself. The level of care and craftsmanship they put into each sandwich is rare. I could tell which one was mine and just had a blast watching! Very happy foodie. The bagel was toasted just enough, but the chewy sourdough texture wasn't lost. It was a remarkable bagel. One of the best I have ever had. I hesitate to call it the best after just one visit, but it was good enough to entertain that thought. The sourdough recipe also made it extremely light and it agreed with my finicky health/dietary needs better than any other bagel I've had in years. The topping ratios were just perfect. Rarely do bagel sandwiches with an aioli have enough, and they put plenty without making it overly saucy. Just brilliant sandwich construction, which really is not taken seriously enough. I brought a French toast bagel to my mom with a tub of their apple & honey cream cheese, which I tasted of course. Whipped and super light. Flavor unlike any other schmear I've had before. It was an incredible flavor. My mind really was blown. Everyone working was cheerful, warm, and friendly. It was a wonderful environment, and from what I had seen on social media it seems like it's always that way and I great place to be with passionate people behind it. I honestly see it being very hard to go to another bagel shop any time soon. This was just an overall fabulous experience. Every aspect. I cannot wait to go back. I will say it had very steady business around 8:45 on a Wednesday, so be prepared for them to be busy.
