It feels odd to feel so positively about a Shop Rite, a lower cost supermarket, but this is the best one to which I've been. It's clean, spacious, has a robotic inventory machine, seems to be organized well, and staff seemed to enjoy their jobs. There is a small flower and plant section, bakery, deli, along with the usual pantry items. Perhaps it's because we went first thing on a weekend but I liked it! And I would rather purchase meat and seafood here than at a Stop and Shop. Sign up for the loyalty card and get those digital coupons. There are also the usual self checkout lanes, with the regular staffed lines. It's also located in a convenient complex with quite a few retail shops and a Panera. Most likely as the throngs of shoppers descend, the experience will degrade accordingly. read more

ShopRite was created in the 1940s by a bunch of small grocery stores coming together to create one entity. They also own Price Rite, which was a very affordable grocery store I used to go to in Rhode Island. This place reminded me of Publix in Florida. There were plenty of cash registers open and I love the self checkouts. The store was large and clean. The bakery section had baked fresh items. I loved the prepared foods section; the smell made me salivate. Pro tip: don't go there hungry. They had rotisserie chicken, prepared sides, sushi, and fresh produce. If you want to preorder a cake, download their app and schedule a pickup. I think the prices were comparable to other standard grocery stores nearby. Overall, a good market to get all your grocery shopping needs. read more

I noticed a tiny sign right at the entrance of ShopRite in Canton this week, which said they are using biometric scanning on all customers. This is absolutely unnecessary overreach in a tiny town. What on earth are they thinking? They obviously don't value the privacy of their customers. I won't return there; there are many grocery stores that value our privacy and are not scanning our faces and bodies when we enter the door to pick up milk on our way home from work. This is a terrible violation of customer privacy and a horrible workplace policy. I will not return to this store or any other that uses this invasive technology. There are plenty of other stores that have better prices, high quality food, and who respect their customers. This hits right at bad management and disrespect of the local community, and it borders on unethical. read more

I'll start off by saying I work for a competitor , who offers associate discounts. What a tremendous job they do here and I drive over a 1/2 hour to get there. That's how much I love the store. Everyone is friendly and willing to help and I'm not bothering them while they work. My cashier today spotted a dented can that I missed and she wouldn't let me take it. It's wonderful to see this attention to detail. I am calling her out simply because it's virtually impossible to get and never mind keep people like this. I shop here most every week because this store carries things I want that my own store no longer does. read more

Manager Keith in the white kicked me off of a handicap cart due to my age. I am 17 and I recently tore my acl, a guy in a white button up walked up to me, and with no respect told me to get out and bring it back. I tried to tell him i tore my acl a bit back and didn't want to limp but to him he "didn't give a rats ass". I'm very unpleased with his professionalism and i felt threatened after i asked him why he was being so rude. Tried to calm him with small talk but again he didn't care. Extremely rude employee, especially to an avid shopper here who had even applied for a job. He's given previous problems to kids all because we are young. read more

Stopped in today to pick up a gift card for my In-Laws, who live in Jersey (there are many more ShopRites in NJ than CT). Noticed a really nice-looking salad bar, so I made up an awesome lunch for myself. It's hard to find a decent salad bar in supermarkets anymore, but ShopRite in Canton definitely has one. I can't say enough about the friendliness and helpfulness of the store employees who guided me through a tricky online order and delivery from a grandma in Ohio to a granddaughter in Avon. The online customer service representatives Denesha (spelling?) and Rochelle (I hope I'm remembering the correct name) were patient and knowledgeable, and so so polite and kind. The bakery manager Kyle went above and beyond, as did store manager Dave, to put together an amazing surprise for my granddaughter. After a little setback on the delivery, the online shopping manager, Maddie, did the final follow up to get the delivery completed. I couldn't have asked for a nicer team of store employees and I look forward to shopping at the store when we visit! read more

I love this store! I shop here at least twice a week, because of the great prices and selection. Staff at this store is always friendly and happy to help with some I Stabley should a more personal relationship already and make it a point to go to their register. Dean is by far my favorite to check out with. The management is present and always noticeable fixing items on the shelf or picking up someone's piece of paper dropped on the floor. We have a cluster of a few towns connected together and all of us or at least most of us shop here. I hope they don't start renovating to keep up with the Joneses like the neighboring supermarkets, please keep it as is, your store is comfortable. read more

Shop-Rite has been steadily growing its organic, vegan, gluten-free and healthy alternative options over the past few years. So how delightful was it to walk in this afternoon and find a dozen booths set up showcasing these types of foods made right here in Connecticut! The folks who manned the booths were friendly and knowledgeable, and I found a treasure: Curt's Classic onion rings. Never fried, organic, vegan, non-GMO and gluten-free, and delicious! So, my new go-to grocery store (SOMEONE won't name names cause you wouldn't know them anyway) still likes the other grocery store, but ShopRite it is for me. I'm actually finding that the staff here is much more friendly, and though the selection MIGHT be a smidge smaller, or just that there's a different variety? Either way, the savings here far out-weigh my need for every variety of everything. So yes, I've read a few bad reviews about customer service, ect. ect. As a chef, I forgive those things, people have bad days, people have off days, it happens, sometimes you get unlucky enough to get the same person on 2 different bad days, it happens. But over-all, the managers are almost always visible, the cashiers are always quick and courteous, and with the added self-check (ok, maybe not JUST added) it's even more convenient. I'm also LOVING the fact they have Hosmer Mountain White Birch Beer and Sarsaparilla, HUGE fan, buy up most the stock whenever I go (so if you're looking for it, and they're out, you can absolutely yell at me, I still won't feel ashamed.) read more

I just wanted to praise a young man named Jason! he collects shopping carts! I am badly handicapped at 80 with inability to walk any distance & fall risk! As I was leaving store on store mobility cart I stopped to transfer groceries to my personal walker! Jason was bringing in a rack of carts from parking lot! H saw me struggling, pushed carts where they needed to go while telling me to stop, he would be right back! When he came back he loaded my two heavy bags onto my walker then escorted me to Brookdale Assisted Living bus! He then asked if he could do anything else for me, after putting my 2 heavy bags on the bus for me! Wished me a good day and blessing and went back to work! He is an example of what we should be today! Going above and beyond helping a disabled person buy her groceries! We are so invisible to most but Jason took notice when it wasn't his job to have to do! You are lucky to have him! Can't thank him enough! read more

To those complaining about the mask requirements at this store, know that other stores are doing the same - following CT Gov & Public Health requirements if they want to be open. You DO want them to be open, right? Most stores are bending over backwards to offer alternatives for delivery, ordering, etc. Regarding complaints about TP stock, back in the early days of Covid, there were hoarders who greatly reduced the available stock. Then stores got wise and established limits on certain items. I shop at Canton Shop Rite every week - any random day or time of day, have not seen bare shelves since. read more

I stopped shopping here two years ago in favor of Big Y. Granted shop rite is 7 minutes closer and I think big y could be a scooch more expensive but worth it. The produce selection at shop rite was always hit miss, and the quality not so great. Experienced more produce having gone bad within three days than compared to any of the other markets in the area. The meat quality wasn't the best and found the butcher wasn't too willing to help. I tried them again a few sundays back for a small list. Place was packed. Three checkers open with 5 people at least waiting in each line and then ten people waiting in self checkout. That's not good read more

The Canton Shop Rite store is superior to all other Shop Rites I've ever visited. The cleanliness, freshness, large stock of prominently displayed Connecticut goods, and friendly staff make me wish I lived closer (not that the West Hartford location is bad, but this is just excellent). They even have a mobile checkout option, which I tried for the first time last Friday. This store has everything from olive oils and vinegars on tap to a nice array of prepared foods and organic selections. Prices are much better than the surrounding grocery stores (lookin' at you Stop & Shop and Big Y) and location is unbeatable. I don't think they have enough employees to service all the folks who go there. I always and I mean always bag my own groceries. Unfortunately it was not a big thing but when I was looking to utilize their self help coffee bean dispensers, they did not have any bags available. I found someone who worked there and they said they would get the bags and never showed. Annoying because I had to go to big Y as a second stop where I was hoping to get everything at shop rite. I tried not lower my rating to this store till I couldn't It's just going in the wrong direction recently by recently I mean almost for a year or so They lack good inventory then they put that funny sign of apology which is funny for so many times till it's not Their products are misplaced whoever put the promotion signs out on their shelves they mess up matching the sign to the right product , many items are one time thing like I buy and like it then try to rebut it next time and they don't have it always out of stock and when you ask they be like ya we aren't sure why it's nit in stock although it sells well !!! Their DELI IS STILL DISGUSTING NEVER CLEAN OR WELL ORGANIZED OR EVEN JUST ORGANIZED AND IT HAS TERRIBLE EMPLOYEES WITH NASTY ATTITUDE!!! IN BRIEF ITS THE WORST DELI IN THE CALLEY !! I wish it was a decent one so I don't have to go to Fresh market or even stop shop for the deli because get most of my groceries from SR ! Now management is another issue they lack the management perspective and personality I think they would make nice employees but not managers ! I live in Canton and shop here a lot. Have always found the store to be clean. I especially like that they carry produce from local CT and MA farmers when in season. Can almost always find tomatillos and a variety of hot peppers, which many stores do not carry, for chile verde. I am disappointed that they stopped carrying Plugara butter, have to make a trip to Fresh Market now for this butter. read more

This was a nice market to come too ,but unfortunately has changed a lot. Items that go on sale are always not available or in a very low amount. Product lines are always missing the most basic of items to be offered. When you speak to one of the staff it's always " we didn't get our delivery " and when you speak to an on duty manager its " get a rain check " ... And they always act either disinterested in your concerns as a customer or not too bright. It is almost as though they use items to attract you into the store and push you into buying the store brand. It's time to start spending my money elsewhere and not return here or any of the other stores .... As most of them are even worse ! This used to be my favorite grocery store and go to for everything. Unfortunately over the last year I've noticed a decline in restocking many of the gluten free products I've loved for many years. I spoke to a very nice manager about 6 months ago about a few items but I have yet to see them come back. Then the other evening I was searching for something (once again that had been there but consistently out of stock) and I asked for help from someone wearing a shop rite jacket. Apparently he was off the clock and "in a rush" So frustrated and 6 months pregnant I didn't bother pushing. He then gets an attitude with me in front of many other customers stating "he owns the store" and that I shouldnt be so annoyed that I can't find something. We have a conversation and he takes my number in an attempt to redeem himself for being mean to a pregnant woman in the middle of the gluten free section. Ended up giving me a $10 gift card. I spend $200 weekly there.... Then recently I went back to price adjust a receipt because I forgot my coupon and even though they said I could during my previous visit, they refused to price adjust. Both the receipt and coupon were in the promotional period. honestly after 8 years of being a regular weekly customer I'll never go back. Not what it used to be. Was a long time shopper (since they opened). Today I rolled into the check out with a cart full of groceries. I had bit on the buy 2 Hebrew Natl. dogs get 2 shoprite rolls free. They charged me and suggested that instead of giving me the ones in my cart free (light version because the regular was out of stock) that I was supposed to pay for the rolls AND then go to customer service and line up again to get a certificate for future free hot dog rolls. Honestly I don't usually eat these rolls at all. I eat Martins Potato rolls. Just nuts. Manager is unfriendly, didn't even bother to say hello or acknowledge me ... just told her employees to have me go line up at customer service. Crazytown. read more
