The staff are not all the way from Cranbourne (most of the time) but do know their way around a guitar, it's many accessories and a decent PA. If you require assistance with yours or just some extra general knowledge about it, these people are more than willing to help out. The quality of wares sits well with most of what you can find in the city, and stocks several brands. Even to come here and get a feel of a few guitars then find out more later on works well too.

The counter itself has a fabulous display of effects pedals to peruse at your leisure and there's a surprisingly wide array of instruments, gear, accessories and learning material all packed in one tight little spot. An incredibly tidy tight little spot. If you're looking for drums, I would recommend their other branch on their behalf as they do have another store outside of the city but I'm led to believe they can arrange for delivery and online booking. The store itself has everything in one central location, ranging from Cds, DVDs to Games, TVs, Computers, Laptops, Cameras, Mobile Phones etc. It is also conveniently located on the first floor in the Well and I go there everytime I get a chance even if it's just to waste some time browsing through Cds and Dvds.

I recently purchased a new TV from JB Hifi from this store. The person that served my offered my a…read moresmall discount off my purchase (even though I did not ask for it which was cool). Unfortunately I could not fit the TV into my car so I had to organise for a home delivery. The warehouse person that I spoke to said that I could get delivery of my TV as early as Tuesday after my purchase on Saturday which I thought was quite good. The transport company that was engaged on behalf JB contacted me on Monday to arrange for a delivery date of Wednesday between 8 and 10am. On Wednesday I waited until 10:20am. Realising that my delivery was not coming I contacted JB and was given the contact details for Toll Fast. I then contacted them and asked for an ETA. I was told at this point that the computer system was down but they would follow up for me again. After waiting 20 minutes I called back to Toll Fast and it was explained to me at that point that my delivery had been scheduled between 9am and midday (as opposed to 8am and 10am). This would have been fine, except I had taken work off to wait for the delivery. I then contacted JB Hifi at 11:20 to pass on feedback on my customer experience where I was told that the Store Manager was busy and that they would call me back. 20 mins later after still no phone call I called the store again and was put immediately through to the store manager (in my opinion she had probably forgotten). She then promised that she would be in contact with the Transport company to get an update. After hearing nothing back by 12:05 I contacted the transport company for an update. The person on the end of the phone explained that she had just been on the phone with jb hifi and suggested that I call them. When I asked if she could just tell me the information rather than me call someone else she said no and hung up on me. After speaking with the Store Manager at JB Hifi after then it was explained to me that my delivery had been put on priority but they still could not provide me with an update. It was then clarified to me that the manager at this store was a floor manager not a store manager. I then asked for compensation in respect to my inconvenience and I was told that my request was unreasonable and the best that they could do was to "sort me out" the next time I was in store. What does this equate to from losing a days work is not clear to me. It is now 12:54pm I have no idea where my TV is and I am understandably irritated after waiting more than half a day waiting for something that might come. Such a lack of customer empathy here, I seriously wouldn't bother.

The service is good too, as you can feel free to wander around and have a look without being hassled by staff intent on increasing their weekly commission. Stocking accessories such as strings, leads and more, you'll find their prices can easily be beaten by purchasing online, however if you're one who enjoys the "old style" shopping experience one gets when physically going into a store, Hans is a reminder of how music stores were before they all had the same name and were run by the same company.

At only $269 it was reasonably priced too. They also sell music books, pick holders, coloured microphones, distortion pedals, amp stands, bonga racks, and cheapies for kids like whistles and Agogo Blocks. In terms of instruments they also have saxophones, pianos, keyboards, flutes, clarinets, trumpets, accordions, harmonicas, drums and violins. Any muso will absolutely be in heaven in this store. One thing I am really annoyed about is their customer service. While the sales process was relatively smooth, I find that the salesperson did not give me the in depth info nor correct info for delivery. He told us the delivery man will install our fridge and take our old one away. Turns out I needed to pay extra to take the old one away which thankfully the delivery guy didn't charge. That's the minor issue. The bigger issue is that the new fridge can't be turned on for 3 hrs or the warranty is void. He did not tell us about that- we expected a working fridge straight away and had no backup plans and had to beg our neighbours to take in our frozen baby food and milk. Not happy

From entry level gear to pro kits, Drum Power also have a large range of microphones and pro audio gear on offer, and will match any advertised price. When shopping for my last microphone, the guys let me try out a range of mics in their rehearsal rooms, and helped me make an informed choice. They then went and beat an eBay seller's price on the same mic. Drum Power have recently added a guitar shop and service centre in an adjoining building, and again stock all calibres of guitars. The service is always part of why I go here. Most of the guys working at Drum Power have been doing so since I was 16 and having my mum drop me off at weekend rehearsals. Each member of the staff is a working musician who knows their stuff and can help you get what you need for a good price.

Their great stock of high end products such as Sonor and the fact that you are dealing with drum "enthusiasts" rather than salesmen keeps me a loyal patron. They are one of the most competitive stores in Melbourne and have also done great deals for my fellow band members on Guitars, amps, mics and PAs etc. The staff have great product knowledge and are very helpful and are willing to source stuff that they don't have in stock. I often recommend Drumpower, but most people I find are loyal customers already. There is a good reason for that!

A few of my friends go here, check out what's just been released, then buy it online for a bit of a saving, but this is one case where I don't mind spending the extra buck or two to have a good shopping experience. Don't be discouraged if you see a big line at the checkout. It moves fast. The store itself is pretty big, and stocks all your DVDs, CDs, electrical goods and everything else you'd expect in a JB. This place is also handy as it's located right near the cinemas so it's a great way to fill in time when waiting for a movie.
