Beware!!!!! Very sketchy!!! $650 to rent for 4 hours. $100 is suppose to be a refundable deposit…read morebut they will look for any reason to keep it. I had my daughters baby shower here. Unfortunately we really did not have alot of options since the date was filled everywhere else. The walls are dirty. Curtains are old and dirty. We rented the kitchen as well for the additional fee. They never told me one of the ovens doesnt work. Literally could not heat all the food in time. They were nice enough to let us use their cooler. Or so I thought. One of my guests unknowingly brought in a 12 pack of beer before the event started. Within 2 minutes the "bartender" told me there was no alcohol allowed to be brought in. My guests put the alcohol in his trunk. It was not a big deal. She did let them purchase alcohol from her bar tho. Which worked outfine. Through out the 4 hours, we were watched like criminals. During the event the "bartender" came in and wheeled the cooler outside to empty the water from the melted ice and make sure no beer was inside which their wasnt. After the event we left the place cleaner then we received it and I made sure she checked it to her satisfaction. There was electrical wires on the stage that looked stripped which could have caused a safety concern,but since we had it blocked off we did not make a big deal out of it. I called to get the deposit and was told they were planning on keeping part of it because the cooler wheel was damaged. This is not true unless the "bartender" damaged it wheeling ot outside. Then tried to throw in the fact that my guest had brought alcohol which was never opened and immediately put away when told. Honestly we felt uncomforrable the whole time we were there. We always rent from VFW's to support the cause but this place should be shut down or get better management. For what they charge we should have had a better experience. The older ladies who work there are tired and not very customer friendly. I overheard the bartender talking to her customers about my guests. Very unproffesional. I understand the VFW has rules and policies which I as the host enforced. Customers also have rights as well. We are not concerned so much with the $100 deposit as much as we are about making sure others dont have the same experience. Beware!!!!! Next actions will be BBB ,Consumer Protection and Attorney Generals office. Also there were safety issues within the kitchen and hall. My advice to the business.... better management, few cans of paint, electrician to fix the open loose wires on the stage,clean the kitchen, be honest with customers about the stove not working, and dont embarass people by treating them like criminals.
