Food selection is very good and reasonable prices. The drive to get there is beautiful, or you can use the interstate nearby. Most vendors have reasonable prices. Huge selection of options to buy stuff. Now, I tried setting up and selling as a vendor. THAT WAS A DISASTER! I actually LOST MONEY trying to sell stuff . I didn't make even $25 and I had an entire truck filled with all kinds of items. The area is extremely poor. The people who were there to shop were mostly broke. They want every thing for a dollar. Lots of " I'll be back" and "I'll think about it". That's code for "I'm broke" lol. So, if you're a shopper Theres lots to buy at good prices. If your a vendor hats not food then good luck making money. I think the only reason vendors go is because it's open on Wednesday and no other markets are so the vendors come. That entire area for miles and multiple towns are economically depressed. Definitely not economically viable. So if you have cash to downs you'll be very happy here.

To put it simply, we were born away by our visit to Roots. We had never been to a farmers market…read moreanywhere near the size and diversity of this one. Dozens -- no, hundreds -- of vendors, Amish and others, selling an astonishing variety of foods and gifts of all descriptions. Sorry to be so wordy and vague, but there is so much to Roots. First off, it's open only on Tuesdays, so plan ahead. And get there early; the parking spots -- there are a lot of them -- really fill up. When we arrived at 10:30am, we circled and circled before finding a spot. Secondly, it can get very crowded, and in summer very hot. Dress accordingly. And please note that many of the vendors accept cash only. There are ATM machines scattered around the area, however. The market has indoor and outdoor vendor stands. We loved the delightfully huge food offerings (indoors). Everything fresh. All kinds of meats (loved those sausages). Every kind of fruit and vegetable you could want. lots of Amish vendors, but plenty of others. too. And wow, the selection of foods, clothing items (we bought beautiful, hand-cut belts), antiques, and ...well, we can go on and on. We spent hours here and came away exhausted and VERY happy. And we found ourselves wondering why can't we have a farmers market just half this size with a fraction of the goods for sale somewhere nearer us in New England? Honestly, we could go on for pages about this. We had a wonderful time and recommend a stop here. (And we were told there are several other really outstanding markets in the area). All the other positive Yelps you read about this place are right on. We're fortunate to have visited and are eager to return -- just wish it was closer.

Root's Country Market & Auction, a Lancaster County shopping staple since 1926…read more A beautiful spring Tuesday to shop for just about anything at Root's. I came specifically to shop in the Main building, area 3, for Tropical Forest Shea Butter Soaps as a birthday gift. I learned about Tropical Forest at the 2025 PA Christmas + Gift Show at the Harrisburg Farm Show Complex. Tropical Forest also has a stand at Green Dragon Farmer's Market. I am thankful this farmer's market has a website with a directory of most of the vendors and an office with people to answer questions. And free maps of the entire farmer's market. There is plenty of parking, a plethora of food places to take off or eat while there, a large number of restrooms, and great signage inside and outside of all the buildings. Worth noting, not all stands/vendors take cards; some only accept cash.

I was on the hunt for something called cheese for a gift. I was able to put in an order and come back the next day and pick it up. Because we're expecting a snowstorm and I wanted to have a nice cheese plate. Let me tell you that cheese was absolutely delicious so flavorful and wonderful wonderful . There was a Tea booth, and I picked up some Bengal tea which is my favorite . Wonderful service. Another delightful surprise was a Greek stand that had delicious sandwiches made with falafel and baba ghanoush . I got a baba ghanoush sandwich. I also bought some. Za'atar Man'oushe bread. What a thrill how flavorful and so exceedingly delicious. I am so happy with that purchase and I wish I lived just a little bit closer to the store so I can pick up this bread at least once a week !! Such a great place to shop!…read more When you think farmer's market...normally you think outdoors...but this was inside. Apparently, this is a common type of shopping venue here...and it's fantastic! There were many rows of vendors here, and all were pleasant! The first thing that really hit me (walking down every aisle), was the variety of vendors. Yes, there was some overlap, but overall, it was a very wide selection of food and merchandise....my wife even bought a purse here! The second thing I noticed was the high quality meat and produce. If I lived close by, this is where I would shop. You could tell the people that worked here took pride in their food, and there was a visible difference in how their customers reacted, trusted, and relied on the vendors for recommendations. We were able to sample a bunch of items, thankfully....and everything was good...but of all the items we tried here, the pretzel dog and draft Appalachian root beer was the best! So fun to visit...will be back for sure!

I've been here on both Saturdays and Sundays, and it appears that Sunday is the better day and you need to arrive early per every place like this. Hours of operation here are pretty narrow for a place like this. The visit I just made here on a Saturday was a borderline disaster. The vast majority of booths were not open on a Saturday, being one of the major problems. What was open was for the most part not worth the drive. Many booths here are in major need of cleanup, with many simply having piles of trash in space that could be used to better organize merchandise. There were a few interesting booths that had trading cards and Pop Vinyls being among the better options here. One or two booths had produce, with others being setup for that empty. It appears almost all of the deli/meat booths were gone. Only one or two booths were serving prepared food, but there is a restaurant on site and a small food trailer outside. There is an enclosed portion with no heating/cooling outside of the main building, that mostly had vacant tables and booths, and one dealer that appeared to mostly have random items. I truly don't know what to do with Renninger's Farmer's Market, but it's in need of pretty drastic changes, and I don't know in its current condition if it will be here in a few years. My friend and I actually felt bad for the vendors as it appeared very few were making sales. Overall, skip this and go to Hometown or Green Dragon. Yes, the drive will be longer, but there are much better options at them.

I enjoyed listening and watching stuff come up for bid but found it confusing to know what was being auctioned. Apparently you have to register to get a number to bid. That is your number forever and ever amen. There is a lot to look at in the area where the auction is. The rest of the market was pretty large with outside vendors and several buildings. Some of the vendors were downright miserable in my opinion. There is a lot to see- a lot of vintage stuff some may consider junk. Very dirty-very dusty and very cheap in my opinion. Some areas were heaped with crap- so much so it was hard to make your way through some of the vendor areas. I noticed a lot of booths were unmanned. I'm not sure how you expect customers to purchase items when no one is available and the booths are abandoned. Plus a lot isn't even priced- I HATE that. They do have food available. I'm not sure I would eat there- but others seemed to enjoy it. I would go back but it's not a place I would go to often. The drive to get there is gorgeous for me.
