It was a little confusing trying to figure out where to go but the reception of both buildings were great. I was recently seen in the SSM Neurology clinic for migraines after having to switch from a UW provider due to insurance change. I was incredibly impressed by the genuine care, attention to detail & time spent with me as a patient. Upbeat appointment start by the MA prior & superior care by Dr. Cristina Murphy. I was blown away by the amount of time she had prepped reading my past chart with notes taken & overall preparedness for my first appointment! This has not usually been my experience with past providers. She was genuinely compassionate & ready to try new options, as well as explained things my other providers had not. I'm really looking forward to working with her. She sent out new Rx's for approval & it was completed in 2 business days. Very pretty building. Nice, large (kid friendly) waiting room & easy check in/out (via reception or touchscreen). The only thing I'd change were that while I got a nice reminder text the day before, I got a call from (a very friendly) RN to come in a bit earlier for all of the new lengthy paperwork. I can't drive & had made my transportation plans around the time the text said the day before. It ended up being fine but it'd be nice if the automated system could work that in for the initial appointments! Otherwise I'm very happy with the care received.

I feared that I was facing a stroke and could be paralized at any moment. When I was ushered to my room on the 7th floor I was greeted by nurses and staff who quickly and efficiently worked to prepare me for the many tests I would receive. Nurses were giving me assurance as I was stuck with needles and tubes that were taped to my arms. Discs were stuck my chest. Nursing staff and doctors asked questions and were patient to listen to what I had to say. I'm 82 and am not knowledgeable to the many medical terms used but found I didn't have to know. Medical teams worked for 2 days to get to the correct diagnosis and now I am happy to be back home with my family. Thank you, Saint Mary's Hospital, Madison, Wisconsin!

Was taken back but the staff definitely wanted to head out as a thunderstorm was on its way and they were closing early. So we are already on a get out the door kind of appointment. We start my appointment and the exam room looks like a used car lot but for nerve stimulators. Well can you guess what they want to "sell" every patient...... yep that's right, they are pushing stimulators like they use to push opioids. YIKES! This is exactly why I left the last pain clinic. Well now the Dr and I are talking and they are not prepared for me, they don't have all of my medical history but are working on getting it. (They called me and scheduled this appointment, if they didn't have my info they should have rescheduled) This man didn't have my prior info, didn't do an exam, and wanted to tell me a medical condition I've had for over 10ths I probably don't have (wtf) and that a stim is probably my best option but he can see I have ptsd around them so I should just see behavioral health & PT and it's really all in n my head. I was aghast. My husband doesn't think I should go back but tbh I am here for medical care and I will attempt another appointment or 2 to see if things get better.

I am over 60, have multiple autoimmune disorders, and a 30 year historyof asthma. I am fully vaccinated and I simply needed anti-virals. My primary is booking out 2.5 months and just says to go to urgent care. So I did. They literally told me I didn't belong there and should see my primary. At which point I started to cry because I was running a fever approaching 103, and anti-virals only help if you start them as early as possible. I felt completely helpless and as if there was no where to turn. They became patronizing "now now dear, we'll do what we can to help you feel better".... When my Covid test (which I was charged $447 for) came back positive, I was told that I couldn't be prescribed Paxlovid for it because "it's contraindicated in patients on statins". I'm not on statins, never have been. I was then told it's only for older patients with comorbidities.... Had she even read my chart? I gave her my age and comorbidities and she said she would prescribe Paxlovid. I just got the bill. I was billed for an Emergency room visit NOT an urgent care visit..... I had a rather heated conversation with their billing department where I was told that Urgent Care and Emergency Care are in the same place and which one they bill for is determined by what treatment they decide you need. NOT by what you ask for when you walk in the door. At no point in time was I told that my visit, which I was told already was unnecessary, was an ER visit. Apparently that decision is left up to the doctors who don't want to treat you, haven't even bothered to read you chart, and attempt to send you away while refusing to provide even minimal standard CDC recommended treatment. Not the first time I've had issues with this facility plumping up their bill. I was in there when I first moved to the area for a simple surgery that is usually done under a local but they drugged me to the hilt then allowed a student to do the surgery without my permission or my knowledge. They then lied to me about it. In addition - be aware that this facility is a "rurally certified healthcare facility" which sounds all nice but what it means is that if you are on Medicare, they are allowed to bill Medicare, Medicare takes their discount and pays their 80%. The patient however, is then billed 20% of the original, undiscounted, bill which is often more than the amount that Medicare paid. Their billing department will NOT explain why and just repeats "I don't know why your bill is so high, we just bill what Medicare tells us to". Medicare also will not explain it to you even though you have a legal right to this information as it falls under the right to have understandable information so you can make reasonable healthcare decisions.... like, would you like to save $10,000 by driving 45 minutes to an urban facility? I learned this after months of trying to understand and I finally found a company that assists medical facilities in becoming rurally certified. They spelled it out plain and simple in one easy to under sentence. States that saw Medicaid expansion also saw a massive rise in new rurally certified facilities being built because the excess was billed to Medicaid and the state pays it vs billing patients on Medicare who are either seniors or the disabled, which resulted in unpaid bills or bankruptcy. Beware - This facility has predatory billing practices, especially if you are on Medicare or Medicaid. Now that Medicaid is being defunded, anyone with Medicare will be seeing massive bills. You can request an Urgent Care visit but even if they tell you to your face that they think that's unnecessary, they'll charge you as an Emergency Room visit AND attempt to provide no treatment at all.

It was almost a one hour drive but the care & quality was worth it. The prenatal clinic is very clean, has a large & peaceful waiting room with a garden courtyard & all of the ladies at the front desk have a friendly demeanor. The prenatal radiology team is wonderful, the rooms are well kept & the equipment is the best I've seen. They went above & beyond to send me the regular, 3D images as well as the video footage of my ultrasounds each time that I could upload at home every time. My c-section was preformed & supervised by a very high rated surgeon, experienced calm anesthesiologist, along with the medical student team. It is very important to remember/come in knowing that this is also a learning medical hospital for UW students on their way to becoming doctors themselves who will be part of your surgical team. It isn't something to be alarmed about while they are discussing the progress and confirming things during the operation. This was my first experience with a c-section (or baby) & the surgeon came in the prep room before to discuss things with us, but the best part was a great but respectable sense of humor and personable attitude of him. It created an uplifting atmosphere. Great anesthesiologist who spoke through what he was doing each step. Fantastic nursing team to keep me calm. The surgeon came over with a smile to check in with me every few minutes. My husband had a great experience as well. I didn't get to see our baby girl right away apart from briefly holding her above the curtain but my husband was very involved. They held her on my chest but couldn't hold her until it was complete. I was out of surgery pretty quickly & taken to our room. Very spacious, very clean room with nice bathroom/shower & a wonderful, prompt & personable nursing team throughout the 5 days there. They weren't constantly changing so you built a nice relationship. I recommended one for the Daisy award she was so fantastic with myself & our new baby. Also, really delicious food made to your liking that came up pretty fast. I was eating pancakes quickly after surgery! Great checkout experience showing us how to bathe our little one, use the pumping equipment & get her ready to go. What would I change? Not much. My husband would recommend a more comfortable area to lay down sunce we were there 4 nights. It was pretty cold and there weren't many blankets or comfortable pillows available for him -I brought my own. Very long review, but I wanted to address the whole experience! It was wonderful, from my months of weekly visits, surgery & recovery. Note: my friend has had her five children at each of the hospitals in Madison (as well as Sauk & Reedsburg) and said Meriter was by far the best as well.
