None of the regionale ticket machines we tried could complete a credit card transaction. The queue at the ticket window was 20-30 persons long. Our criteria was as we were a party of 6 (2 couples and 2 single ladies): 1) Location - to be somewhat in the center of the city 2) near a train station 3) breakfast 4) air conditioning. FREE WiFi always a plus! We had a total of 4 rooms. The great thing was they placed all of us on the 7 th floor. The rooms were spacious and clean. The front desk was friendly and attentive. Breakfast is not a typical continental breakfast. I was impressed with the variety. Breakfast is from 6:45 to 10:30 am. There are no meal options after that but there are endless food options in the area. I usually take issue with the beds- I either have a not so comfy bed or pillows. Both were fantástico! Situational awareness is important. Staying in lighted areas, away from the side streets and near the crowds are probably safer....but that's a general rule in any city. I probably would need to think about venturing out at night if we were a pair of females....like catching a taxi to get somewhere vs walking. There is also laundry service the next block over where it costs about 9€ per 6 kilos. You drop it off and they do it for you. The front desk said it takes about 2 hrs. We will taking advantage of the service. The train station or Termini is about 2 streets down and clearly renovated with shops, a Western Union, restaurants, even a chapel. Security, police and military personnel patrol the area so it's a relatively safe area. We are happy with Hotel Ariston!

Second room still only had 1 queen bed and a sofa bed when we requested 2 queen bed. Last was a suite with still 1 bed and 2 sofa bed, so at this point we gave up. We initially wanted to change hotels but Costco couldn't find an available one and the staff wouldn't release us, so they pushed for us to upgrade to a suite. Overall, decent enough stay. Breakfast wasn't bad but not good either. Located 5 minutes to the train station. Very small elevators and narrow room floors. Don't go out late at night as it doesn't look too safe to wander.

As a matter of fact, I know some people who just wouldn't have been able to fit into the room without moving furniture. Free breakfast and Wi-Fi. 4 stars because they were very accommodating with a last minute change in our reservations.
