He missed a piece of paper that corrected the parcel number and spent so long searching for the wrong parcel that it delayed closing by almost ten days. Then he lost the check that I wrote and presented him with at closing and asked me to rewrite it! When I told him I would not until the cashier's check was officially canceled, he found it. Then, I was contacted by the survey company six months later for non-payment. David Beaver failed to disburse the funds I gave him at closing to pay them. He has been holding on to nearly $4,000.00 of money that should have gone to pay the survey company for almost six whole months. One of the worst experiences I have ever had working with a lawyer. Do not walk, run away from David Beaver if someone suggests using him as a lawyer on your real estate transaction.

On 4/8 I reached back out and he responded with " I will put my hands on the return today and let you know what I need." Once again, I didn't hear anything so on 4/11 I sent the following email: Hello Mr. Dalton, I apologize for bothering you; however, you haven't followed through with your last 2 emails. On 3/29 you stated you would work on our taxes over the weekend and get back with me. Then on 4/8 you stated you were going to put your hands on it that day and get back with me. I empathize with how busy you are especially this time of year, but perhaps you shouldn't take on so many clients if you are unable to follow through on your word. My family will be heading out of town on Friday and will not return until 4/23. We absolutely do not want to file an extension on our taxes. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to plan for staff shortages and other things that happen during the tax year. NO ONE works harder than we do. Folks that don't work in this business don't understand the rigors of tax season, as you have no reason to. As far as your advice to "not take so many clients", that is one way I keep costs down. I did not anticipate being 2 accountants down this year. Your partnership has been extended. And I have reviewed it since we spoke. It was done in a manner different than I like to do things, as we talked about during our meeting. Many firms take the information that you provide, right or wrong, and put it on a tax return. I don't operate that way. I believe that I am paid to look at things from an accountants standpoint. This does slow down the process some, but my clients pay me to get things right, and I respect that trust. I have to make decisions, during the course of tax season, to spend a lot of time on one return or to use that time preparing other returns. Unfortunately, I don't have the time or manpower to focus on fixing and preparing a corporate or partnership return during this busy time. Your personal return is complete to the point of adding the info from the partnership I have also learned during my career that once a client is unhappy, there is little chance of correcting that. I will be more than happy to file an extension for your personal return today and you can pick up your documents and find someone that suits your need better.
