I went to Payton on May 17, 2025 and it was the worst hair cut that I have had in my entire life. She had cut my hair several times before and they were ok. I took several pictures to show her and one of the pictures was of Jaime Lee Curtis. She started cutting my hair and at that time I couldn't see how short it was until it was too late. I was in shock and couldn't even say anything, I wanted to cry. I text her and she blamed the haircut on the texture of my hair. She didn't communicate with me at all. Horrible treatment no highlights I have been having my hair done for over 30 years and I thought the color of the light er was weird should have been blue my hair looks no different all she did from the moment I sat in her chair after working a 14 hour night shift and hurting so I can do another 1 to pay and get my hair and eyebrows done which were the worst I hqv ever had done the sad thing is you were a judge hairdresser that doesn't know me and obviously doesn't know how to highlight hair I have always heard good things of the place you work but it had nothing to do with you!! So I hope you quit doing highlights I won't let you ever touch my Maddied hair is what you said to me like 5 times... well I don't sleep all night I work and lay down in a chair on my phone so that I can get my hair done and in all my years you were the worst!!! read more

DON'T GO TO THE STRAND HAIR DESIGN IN ROCKPORT, TX. I went in to get highlights only and Brittany, my stylist, put bleach on the whole length of my hair, she walked away for long periods of time and then reallized she better take some foils out but still left the bleach on. Once she finally came back she rushed me over to the sink and put on toner. She then left again for a long period of time and when she came back to look at my hair she hurriedly washed out to the toner because it had darkened and slightly grayed my hair but this time. Back in the seat she started to comb my hair out and then just stopped and began to put product in it to dry it. I had to stop her and ask that she comb it out completely before drying it. The owner of the place backs their employees not the customer at least in this situation. I was really willing to work with them because everyone needs to eat right!! Hair will grow back right!! But they are now just outright lying about what happened. I am updating my post to let everyone see how dishonest these people are. My husband and I rented a house on the canal in Rockport. This house did not have a pool. I also assure you my hair was as thick as horse hair before this salon got a hold of it! I am attaching the conversation with the person who did my hair and the owner and myself. Evidently the stylist told the owner that I said I was going straight to the pool as soon as I left there. Who goes to a pool when they are down at the coast?? Now she is just making up lies to appease the owner and the owner does not ask me first but just assumes that is what I did. Let me say that even if I did go to a pool my hair has been completely ruined and will not be the same for years until I can grow it out again. I am 52 years old and have no reason to lie about any of this. In all the years I have had services done you can see I have written only 4 reviews on yelp and not all bad. As a working professional in the beauty industry, I have both seen and experienced the good, the bad and the ugly. I have also experienced exceptional skill and service. That said, I'll be the first to admit that when it comes to salon & spa treatments (hair, skin, massage, etc) I am not an easy customer to satisfy. Easy to please perhaps, but not easy to satisfy, and in my opinion there is a big difference between those two. After moving here 7 months ago and still flying back to Colorado every 6 weeks to have my hair highlighted and cut I finally found someone here in South Texas and I couldn't be more thrilled. Ashley at 'The Strand' in Rockport did a FABULOUS job with both my cut (long layers) and my multi-tone highlights and I am very, VERY happy with the results. Way to go Ashley! I will start with what was good. The receptionist at the front desk was very nice. The young stylist I saw was also very nice and seemed to try very hard. However, my haircut and highlights were both very disappointing. I went in blonde and came out much darker, which wasn't what I asked for. She used foils but didn't put me under the dryer and then rinsed my hair with something. Very different process than I have experienced before with very disappointing results. If you spend three hours here having your hair done, be sure you bring your own magazine and water because none were offered. Also, no "extra" styling products were used, no mousse or spray or anything. Consequently, I walked out $150 lighter, parched, with mousy flat hair and ridiculous bangs. Even my husband noticed how short and uneven my bangs are. read more

Got a butcher job this week. I stated at least 6 times I did not want a mans cut. I wanted short at neck line, fullness everywhere else. I told her I did NOT want the cut she had just done on another woman. I left looking like a recovering cancer patient. Where I wanted full hair, I have 1 to 2 inches of hair and that is not even. I told her I had to have long heavy bangs and the held them up in the air and whacked them off. Too late after that. Then I was charged an amount of money you would expect to pay an actual good stylist. I think this girl had just gotten out of school and goodness knows how she passed state board. To make horrible even worse, I had to listen to a kid run screaming thru the shop almost the entire time. She belonged to another stylist. Do yourself a favor. Save your money and months of misery.
