The ladies at the front are not easy to deal with and should not be in their position. The Filipino receptionist never answers the phone and is extremely rude and gives side-eye to many patients during visits, the blonde office manager is no better and should be removed asap. I'm convinced they hate the patients that visit the office. If you're in need of a family physician, go elsewhere as they do not care about your health and are in it just to collect a paycheque. read more

Is this experience a perfect example of the doctor shortage in Canada? This was a very long day for us: I wanted a follow up with my GP; his vacation is this week - his message suggests to go to the walk in clinic. However, that clinic was closed at 2:00 when the afternoon shift doctor called in sick. I used Yelp to choose another clinic that was getting good ratings... except it ended up being a private clinic with a 6-month wait list! Le sigh! They recommended this place. We got here at 2:30. Got called in to see the last doctor left at 6:15 - after the receptionist put a sign on her monitor that they were taking no more patients today. Another 45 minute wait to see the doctor. Technically, service was good; I'm satisfied with the results, but what a waste of a day! On a side note, there were several young children in the waiting room, and not one toy! read more

Updating my review the front end girls are so unprofessional I rated them a 1 last time because they were eating in front of us but the doctor was nice and gave me samples (he was older) but I went again Monday the staff were eating in front of us again! And then I saw a different doctor he was younger and wasn't that bright he gave me only what I needed or he made a mistake so I'm back again today and the front end staff STARTED FIGHTING in front of us ! Yes, this is a convenient location for a walk-in clinic, however, that's about the only advantage. I can't tell you how many times I have waited for hours on end (my record I believe is 5). Of course a wait is expected, but there is absolutely no reason why any patient should be waiting for this length of time. I hate to say it, but I may have even had better luck at the hospital than waiting around here. Even those with appointments with their family doctors here have to wait for unreasonable amount of time, as it seems they are always behind schedule. I was very ill, with what was already diagnosed by a doctor here as an ear infection, strep throat, and shingles. I came back a week later for a check-up after I had finished my antibiotics, as the doctor instructed, and the same doctor wouldn't believe I had shingles at my age.. except he was the same one who diagnosed me. The doctors are nice enough, though some obviously more knowledgeable and with better bedside manner/more caring than others. Some of the assistants at the front desk (forgive me, as I don't know their correct titles) are also more accommodating than others - I have stood there before for 5-10 minutes just waiting to sign in as two of them talked about their plans for the night. Typically, after hours of waiting, I'm only seen for about 30 seconds and rushed out. On another occasion, I was asked what kind of medication I wanted - shouldn't the doctor be recommending one instead? Today, I tried calling during their business hours to get some information and the phone just rang off the hook, no automated message, voicemail, or anything. I could go on and on, but the bottom line is that if ever you do decide to walk in, clear your schedule for the day and don't expect to get very good service. read more

I went to Strandherd Crossing because my GP was away on vacation. I was in severe abdominal pain to the point where I couldn't walk or stand straight. When I spoke with the doctor she was rude, dismissive and condescending. She was bold enough to ask why I bothered coming in. She asked if I was having regular bowel movements, which I explained I was. I told her I wanted a requisition for an ultrasound which she scoffed at but gave to me when I began crying. She did not help me with the pain and as she left she said under her breath that I was likely just constipated despite having told her that I was very regular. She then shut the door on me. At the ultrasound I learned that an ovarian cyst had ruptured and that was causing my extreme pain. I later ended up in the hospital due to pain. I understand how overworked medical practitioners are, especially at an emergency walk in, but if you also aren't able to be compassionate towards clients in emergency situations then maybe you would benefit from a career change, or perhaps another work setting would suit her skill set better (like an office space away from other people). read more

I went for a referral 2 weeks ago and I still have not heard back from the clinic, so I have followed up with them. First call, they told me it had been sent so I waited a few more days, then I decided to call the office of the specialist, then they said they have not received the referral. The worst medical centre I have ever known. I am calling 10-15 times to make an appointment with the family Dr who is working in this medical centre and no one answers the call. There is no voice mail so I can't even leave a message. When try try and is unavailable to reach anyone to book an appointment and go to another walk in clinic the Family Dr gets upset. Even the family Dr is not great but at least I have one. Sometimes I wonder whether I would be better off without a family Dr as I can never reach her when I need her because I can't get through to make an appointment and also because she works only a few days of the week. I would have given NO STARS if there was that option. read more

I love my GP here but that is the only reason I stay with this clinic. You can never get through when you call and cannot leave a message. You have to just keep calling, sometimes days until someone answers after which you wait on hold for 5+mins. The wait times for walk in could be 1 to 4hrs (if you line up before they open it's less than an hr). Drs are very nice but front staff are generally too over worked therefore cold and apathetic. To top it off they occasionally just don't open 'for lack of doctor availability'. read more

First time at this clinic and I can honestly say I thought they looked after me very well. The front desk (all 3 girls) were extremely friendly and pleasant, the nurse? who calls you in was a sweetheart, very pleasant and did not rush me at all. The doctor I saw was competent, sympathetic and understanding. I wanted a referral to a specialist (which he gave me with no problem). He even did some testing there to rule out an infection in case I didn't get in to see the specialist quickly. Test results were sent to a lab to double check their results and I was told they would call me if anything needed attention immediately. All of this took 2.5 hours which I consider reasonable for a walk-in clinic. read more

What are similarities between my pet parrot and Dr._____ ? Both can talk and have the ability to remember information and a brain the size of an unshelled walnut. What is the difference between the two? One has feathers, a beak and claws. The other does not. Dr_____ is incompetent and demonstrates little concern for his patients. I was the first walk-in patient. I still have a swollen eye that is really painful and red. He walked in, looked at the nurse's information sheet for 1 second. He asked me what the problem was with my eye. I told him it was really painful, red and I suffered from dry eyes. He asked me if I had had cold lately, looked at my eye for perhaps 2 seconds, and told me he would give me an antibiotic gel. He did not use an otoscope. He then filled out a prescription within nor more than 2 and a half minutes after having entered the room. I then told him I needed something for my dry eyes. He responded saying well let's see how this antibiotic works, if it doesn't go to an optometrist. I asked him, what I was to do until then, as systane was not working. It was also costing me a fortune. I asked him if he could give me a prescription for dry eyes. He got out his phone and started googling prescription eye drops. "Don't you have a family doctor?" he asked. Now, why would he ask something like that of a patient? If the patient is there, I think it reasonable to assume there is good reason for it. I had already told him how my eye was giving a lot of pain. It was clear to me that he wanted to spend as little time on me as possible. He could not find anything through his search through google. Yes google. If he had a special professional application for general practitioners on his phone, he would have found a suitable prescription. I suggested that I could call Shoppers Drugmart next door and that he could speak with the pharmacist. He refused. He continued searching on his phone. He finally gave up and told me to call the pharmacist. I got through to him very quickly, although Dr____ said, something to the effect that, it would take a long time, clearly indicating he was in a rush. I got through to the pharmacist in a matter of minute and gave him the phone. He then filled out a prescription for dry eyes based on what the pharmacist, (an excellent pharmacist BTW) had told him without asking him a single question besides the name of a prescription for dry eyes. Once finished, I said "thank you." Dr.____ said nothing in response and walked out of the room. I went to the pharmacy and the pharmacists told me that Dr._____ did not leave directions for the dry eye medication. The pharmacist explained to me thoroughly and patiently how to use both medications, demonstrating definite concern for my condition. Some doctors forget the fact that it is the citizens of Ontario who pay their salaries. But then again, you can't fault a doctor who has a brain the size of an unshelled walnut I'll let you draw you own conclusion regarding the size of his brain when you go to the clinic and have the misfortune of meeting with him. I will never go back there despite the convenience of having a clinic so close to my house. read more

If I could give a zero rating I would. I went here after hitting a tree on my bike and developed bursitis in my elbow. I even knew what it was before I went. The "doctor" there said I had gout and gave me a script for gout. I did not believe him so I went to the Queensway Hospital. Had to wait a record 13 hours with 100 or so others. By the time I was seen I could not even bend my arm. They put me on IV antibiotics and a script to take at home. If had listened to this doctor at the clinic I don't know what would have happened to me. This clinic is a joke. read more

Barrhaven is very populated with a lot of families and young children strandherd med cntre is one of the few clinics that offer all day walk ins so it will be busy. It is up to the staff to manage the clients. They open at 830 for registration but the doors open at 8 so there's a line for the registration by 815 already. There is no way of knowing what position you're in when you walk in there's no number pulling device or anything and the receptionist couldn't care less. So by 830 the lobby is full and no one knows who went in what order which causes anxiety and frustration amongst the patients waiting. Receptionist will leave a patient standing in front of the desk waiting to be registered before 830 and not tell him registration starts at 830. I told the patient so he could have a seat and not look like an idiot. All the staff esp front liners are rude but that's prob because this clinic doesn't know how to organize patients so when patients get annoyed the staff react accordingly why do u think there's a big sign saying abuse won't be tolerated?? So staff...it's not patients who are rude it's your clinic and it should be shut down read more

She is from the old school, don't talk and looking at you like if were a pure object.I ask about where would be the chiropractic clinic that she referred me and her answer has been to checking in the yellow page. read more

This place needs to be shutdown and doctors need to be stripped of their licences. Doctors come whenever they want leaving patience sitting around waiting for hours. Secretaries will never clarify whether or not the doctor will show up. I also wonder if the doctors even know what they are doing, they see me for 5 secs and give me the boot. I never leave their feeling confident and always have to go for a second opinion. Anyways, I can go on for days about this place but best believe i will never return. I suggest everyone do the same, the last thing you want is to add frustration to your illness. read more
