Kathie will accuse you of things that are not true and won't let you defend yourself. she trapped my artwork in her contract when she stopped promoting me after the show ended, 30 days Of hanging 12 months for online sales. when I asked her to remove my artwork from her site, She said I am "desperate" and "unhealthy." I am desperate to get her out of my life. she demanded that I give her links to all the content I wanted removed and then she threatened to tell the cops I was harassing her. I have had to sign up for social account to show her the content she needs to remove and she is still bulling me telling me my artwork didn't sell well. I thought you paid the gallery for that service. we as artist pay 40%-50% of our sales for galleries services. If she decided to stop promoting me why hold onto my paintings? To be cruel, that's why. Horrible experience that she is drawing out. please be careful artist. Her behavior ended my desire to be an artist entirely and I quit showing when I recovered the last of my physical items she was holding hostage. Today she is still making it impossible to remove my artwork from her Facebook, Instagram and multiple website. if this isn't bulling, I have no idea what is.....if my artwork is such trash, why are you fighting to remove it From your advertising? The reality is if she just removed what I sent over, she probably would have spent less time then all this back and fourth. She instead sent the attached email which was not necessary at all. I was never trying to get anything from her but for her to remove my property. she took the opportunity to accuse me of backdoor sales and insisting on early payment. Neither of those are true. She wouldn't help me get away from a cruel person running the desk and she wouldn't let me end the "professional" relationship. I have extreme social anxiety and there is no way that I offered someone buy artwork directly from me. The front desk person accusing me of backdoor sales called my artwork "cheap." When I brought this to Kathie's attention, she told me to "direct all questions to the gallery." meaning working with the person that was bulling me. She believed her without question and treated me like trash. I showed at the gallery in multiple group shows for years with no problems. This girl was there for a matter of months And Kathie didn't even talk to me about it. She believed that girl that was trying to get rid of me. My cease and desist letter stated I would have to alert media outlets if she ended up behaving badly. She felt the need to bully me more....that is how I "threatened her" I had to threaten her with legal action. This is nuts this was her reaction to taking the images of me and my work down. As you can see she says it is. after all of this treatment, six years later she is still linking my name to her site. The links she created are still active. She removed the archival work but not the advertising. I didn't ask for a new contract or money or any of the crazy things she thought appropriate to accuse me of. Luckily I no longer wish to be an artist So her slander no longer affects me....other then I am trying to protect my privacy and still working hard to remove content that I own. read more

My mood dramatically altered today, wandering into the little den of deformity that is the Stranger Factory. I'd been pacing the sidewalks of Route 66, seriously bumming out on the scars and pangs and aches of Albuquerque Rapid Transit construction, and I was really worried about the future of Nob Hill. And I'd been meaning to pop into Stranger Factory for the better part of, oh, two years, but they're closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and that's when I tend to visit the 'hood. Today was an exception, and I was exceptionally swooned. Simply put, I absolutely love every gift and piece these guys stick on the wall. With a similar sensibility to Santa Fe's Meow Wolf, the voice of the work in this gallery is sly, enveloping, winsome, somehow innocent, and deliciously dark. The sculptures, paintings and curiosities simply must be seen to be only somewhat understood, and I'm really impressed that the focus around here isn't about selling shiny objects, it's about showcasing incredible artists that would otherwise remain stuck on some website somewhere. I honestly feel like I have to make this shop my go-to for gifting, prices are reasonable and some of this s*it is just brilliant. I also couldn't help but note the coincidental cultural obsession with Stranger Things, which is starting a second season. Like the show, this gallery doesn't compel us with content so much as mood, context, tone. I left the store with a handful of goodies and the strong impression that, A.R.T. construction be goddamned, with businesses like Stranger Factory on main street, Nob Hill will always be a jewel of the Duke City. read more

This gallery/kitsch shop is full of odd art and fun this-n-that. The paintings were definitely unique...and I wanted all of them. The big pieces were pricier, of course, but there were small paintings which were much more affordable. There was a small, weird looking cat painting. I. Must. Have. It. There were adorable wall/hanging plates with interesting images in the center (I loved the dressed up cat plate). So what if I'm a cat lady in the making? Don't judge me. There were cards, coin purses, lip balms, ornaments and a ton of other miscellaneous items--all with an attitude (you'll see what I mean). This is a great place to pick up a unique gift (for others or yourself). read more

The very first of its kind that I've ever seen! --heard they had a previous location but moved to this new one on Central. I was just strolling Nob Hill when I was drawn into this particular store. I entered and felt like I was in a different world. The music was almost creepy but couldn't have been any more fitting for the store. You're greeted immediately with different faces from different artists-- in many forms. There were figurines, masks and paintings. They also featured quite an array of Japanese collectibles. This place was not only a store but served as a great art exhibit. I took my time in there because not only were the art pieces fascinating but actually quite beautiful. It's really cool to see a place like this in Albuquerque! I highly recommend to visit at least once. read more

Peculiar Gift Shop/Art Gallery I guess that's why they call it "Strange Factory" as they offer a variety of bizarre and very cool & intriguing pieces of Art in this little gallery! Definitely have some unique pieces as well as vinyl collectibles and also have a love for Halloween(my favorite) Staff was super duper friendly and mentioned this new location in Nob Hill host monthly events as well as getting new Artist all the time. I have a new favorite store. Very reasonable prices and very unique merchandise. I needed 5 Secret Santa gifts for work. I was in there for over an hour, because every time I thought I'd seen everything, a new treasure would pop up. I don't recommend this store to people with no sense of humor. I laughed my butt off at so many items. It's like a magical corner of the world with the dark and macabre and the light hearted and hilarious. I highly recommend. Clerks are really nice and helpful. This is a very cool little store/art gallery in the Nob Hill area. If you're looking for gifts and decor that is a little on the strange side, then this is the place for you. They have artwork, occult items, toys, and a variety of other odds and ends that you never knew you needed. Most definitely worth a stop if you're in Nob Hill and looking for a break from the usual. The reason I am topped rank for check ins is because this place is NEVER open. The hours on yelp aren't updated and neither are the days. I have been here multiple times from Phoenix and I have yet to be inside. Today was the biggest disappointment because I was brought here for my birthday and yet AGAIN closed. After driving from Albuquerque to Algonones where their new store is located (and open only five hours Saturday and Sunday), I waited in line for 15 minutes to get no help whatsoever. The people in front of me were assisted but I was not. Maybe they didn't see me standing there holding some merchandise I wanted to purchase. Maybe I am a ghost or maybe I was the only person of color there. The store is quirky but stuffy and very small. It is a converted house with creaky wooden floors, and cameras in every corner of every room. Find a way to purchase directly from the artists and ignore this place because they will ignore you. read more

My husband and I are huge fans of "low brow" art, so Stranger Factory is definitely right up our alley. In addition to having a great selection of toys, books and paintings, Stranger Factory also holds monthly exhibitions featuring group shows or one or two artists. I just wish I had more money to buy fun stuff to decorate my home. read more

I was so excited to check this place out, I have been following them on Instagram for months since an artist I follow recently did a show there. Stranger Factory is just that: Strange. And it is just magnificent. Art lines the walls from the front to the back of the store, along with little kitschy things related to some of that art, weird little toys, print books, and art prints. A lot of the art that I saw and loved was well out of my price range to purchase, but it is a great place to see some amazing pieces of handmade art/sculptures/creations. I hope to be able to stop here again sometime when I am back in ABQ for other artist showcases, but until then, their Instagram will have to suffice. read more

Brought my wife and daughter to this shop in Knob Hill. Very cool to say the least. There are a lot of creative people displaying their work here. It's almost like a museum. This is a weird, unique gallery that I like to stop into when I'm walking by. It features art of Halloween, goth, and fantasy styles in well-done, intriguing ways. I loved the imaginary amphibian baby art that there is still a little of, and the very vibrant, detailed paintings of the girl in amazing fantastical scenes like in a magical forest, Alice in Wonderland style, etc. Also a fun shop in front with stickers, books, and items based on the artwork and good for Halloween. read more

My wife and I just purchased a creature wall mount from Stranger Factory in Albuquerque and we are very pleased with it. But unfortunately the customer service was absolutely horrible and almost cost the sale. The frond desk person was rude, and didn't want move to the area the art was hanging to answer some simple questions my wife and I had. Also, she didn't want to box it up for us, as we were traveling and seemed very put off by the whole thing. Needless to say that we wont be back but as an artist myself, I think it is important to feel confidant that the people selling your art are able to do a good job. It's a must go to place anytime we're in Nob Hill. Nice selection of vinyl collectible toys and blind boxes/bags. Plus if you open your bag or box in the store you can trade it for one of the ones they've already opened. Staff is always really nice. Art gallery is really awesome. My girls(5 and 10) love it as much as I do even though the toys aren't meant to be played with but are more collectible art. If you're in Nob Hill you gotta check it out! read more

I have always wanted to visit this gallery/gift store. I've heard people always speak highly of this place. I was amazed. This place was so much more than I had expected. The staff was not only friendly, they honestly wanted to answer questions and to be helpful. They were also very knowledgeable about each aspect of the work they carried. Best of all, regarding the work, there was a wide variety in prices. One could purchase a small inexpensive work, as a thank you gift or souvenir. Or one could purchase fine art work as a start or an addition to an collection. There again there is a wide range in prices and a wide range in the Artist they display.
