Dreoni has so many sections filled a huge selection of toys--from all-American Barbies to Pinocchios, baby toys to train models, bouncy balls to puzzles, build-your-own stuffed animal to musical instruments--if you're looking for a specific toy, Dreoni probably has it. Although there was an occasion or two (possibly even three!) when we left Dreoni without buying something, we usually left the store with an item, even though the prices were a bit on the high side. If you do buy something, check out is very peculiar: you give the item(s) to a check out staff member who then adds up the prices of the items. You then walk to another counter and pay another employee before returning to the first staff member who has wrapped your items. Always threw me off but it works for them. Treat your kids, and the kid in you, to a visit to Dreoni. It's almost as fun as museum and you can score some cool action figures or baby dolls while you're there!

I'd get 2-3 cappuccinos because I need a lot of caffeine in the morning. Plus the pastries. My god. Italian breakfasts are my kryptonite. The service was rude. Who gives a shit! On our last day the bartender asked me where I was from and when I said NJ outside of NY she became nice and gave me free stuff. Thanks lady!

On a recent trip to Florence I was on the look-out for art stores and art supplies-- both as…read morenecessity and to compare to art stores in the United States. Although Bati is a small store, and combination art/hardware/& hobby shop, it had just what I needed. Bati's owner spoke English & was so nice and helpful that I wished I had needed more supplies. He stocks acrylics, oil and watercolor supplies for the serious as well as amateur artist. I bought a pack of Daler-Rowney watercolor postcards that I had forgotten to pack before departure from the US. I painted my way through Florence, Venice & Tuscany. FYI: the Italian postal service is rather slow for delivery to the US. As each card arrived I was reminded of "my" little art store on Via Verdi Giuseppe. An added bonus was that Bati was not far from Santa Croce and our airbnb on Via dei Neri.
