BEWARE LEXINGTON Academy Hello, This is a recent incident at…read morea Lexington Academy in Laveen I was sent a video by a friend concerning her son, we will call him John. The video was sent by John's principal to defend staff action which resulted in injury to John. It is important to know John is afraid of the high school part of the campus. The kids are bigger there and he is afraid he will be beat up. in the video, the face of every student in the classroom is clearly seen. John is seen sitting at a table not doing his work. He is just sitting starring into space. His teacher walks behind him, lifts him roughly up out of his chair, turns him around and begins yelling at him, "WHEN I SAY DO YOUR WORK YOU WILL DO YOUR WORK!!! IF YOU DO NOT DO YOUR WORK YOU WILL GO TO THE HIGH SCHOOL!" At that moment the high school behavior specialist (Mr. Zach) walks in. John is beginning to panic and yelling "NO...NO...NO.." The techer says "Mr Zach, if John does not do his work you can take him to the high school side." At this point John is in a clear panic. He runs to the classroom phone and tries to call 911 (in this day of school shootings we teach kids to call 911 if they do not feel safe). Staff intervenes and does not allow the call. At this point John is off video. Staff reports it was then John tried to flee the classroom. Back in the video now, Mr. Zach grabs John by the arm, turns him forcefully around and tackles him to the ground where John hits his head. John is then forced in a chair and made to apologize for trying to call 911. 4 adults can be seen going to that side of the room, leaving the rest of the class on their own (2 kids briefly hit each other several times in the background). John ended up with scratches and 3 finger bruises to his arm. Lexington denies any wrong doing and reports staff acted as they were trained to. They defend taking a child with autism from a calm state, sending him into a panic and then injuring him. The incident report states (paraphrasing) " John is refusing to work, he is redirected by his teacher. John goes to the classroom phone to dial 911 and is stopped by staff. John attempts to elope and is grabbed by the shirt sleeve to prevent elopement". As an aside permission for the principal to give a copy of the video to John's mom was not told to any other parent in the classroom.

I received strong support throughout my journey; from onboarding with Vince to student teaching with Professor Volpe. Even now, I'm continuing to get help with my credential, resume writing, and access to alumni benefits. The only improvements I'd suggest are reducing some of the fees for online students and providing more consistency in academic counselors throughout the program.

I never feel overwhelmed, and the layout of the courses makes it easier to stay organized and confident in my progress. What really sets this experience apart is the support system. Dr. Jessica Whiteside has been amazing throughout my journey. She consistently checks in, offers encouragement, and makes sure I feel supported every step of the way. It's rare to have someone who genuinely cares about your success and takes the time to recognize your efforts. Because of both the program structure and the support from staff like Dr. Whiteside, I've been able to stay motivated and continue pushing forward. I would definitely recommend Grand Canyon University to anyone looking for a flexible and supportive learning environment.

Did not shut down or go on lock down ! Instead the principal made a comment of let them fight and went and hid in the office ! No effort was made to protect the students other than as I walked into the office I was told don't hold the door open when I looked back to see if my husband was behind me. I'm very disappointed that the safety of our kids was not taken into consideration while staff watched from windows and doors as the two families fought. I signed my child and left immediately and my child will not be returning here next year since the staff couldn't even properly handle or know what to do in this situation. SMH . Cops did show up after the two families left but could do nothing since they were gone.

There are always fights between the students and the school is always dirty. There is at least problems going on with students every 2 weeks. Some kids even got assaulted by a teacher, 1st graders. The kids would also get food poisoning due to the cafeteria food. They would hardly let middle school have any fun as well, 8th graders this year didn't even get a field trip. Nor did they have any good teachers... Some teachers were rude and didn't care for the students at all. But speaking about teachers they were never able to hold on to teachers for even a year, they would always quit.. In conclusion just don't send ur child here they won't like it!!!
