Unprofessional attitude and work equipment. Left branches in excess of 13.ft, large pieces not cut thru all the way, left a mess on my neighbor's garage, large branch left dangling from another tree, along with an untrained associate whom was wearing Crocs on the job site and was responsible for the mistake branch that crashed down on my house. Somehow, they found 19 sprinkler heads that needed replacement (that's half of all the sprinkler heads that I have), then they quoted me $500 - $600. I agreed and provided them with some brand new heads that I had. They said all of my sprinkler heads, purchased from Home Depot, were faulty so they had to use their own. I offered to pay when the work was done, and they said "no, they will send you an invoice". When the invoice arrived, it was for nearly $1,000, nowhere near the quote I had received before the work began (can yiuy say rip off?). Here's the worst part, the sprinkler heads weren't aimed properly and I had 3 areas of grass that died. Guess what happened next, I refused to pay the invoice unless they fixed the problems and instead of fixing the issues, they sued me. Do business with Skip's at your own peril, or take their advice from the name of their website, just "Skipit".

Groundworks is a family operated business. I met initially with Gary, who owns it along with his wife. He provided an initial estimate, and was clear about what would be done. He uses his own employees, no sub-contractors or temporary help. In fact, his son Chris was the crew leader on my project. With more than 20 years of experience, I was in good hands with Chris. The scope of the project was initially smaller than the end result due to the hidden issues that were uncovered when work got under way. Gary and Chris worked with me to correct those problems at a price that was more than fair given the time and effort involved. His crew was polite and wasted no time sitting around despite the brutally hot weather. The end result was beautiful. Do yourself a favor and give them an opportunity to provide an estimate.
