Save yourself the trouble and stay away! Our experience with Stu makes me question his qualifications, and that's putting it nicely. We had mistakes in our previous years' tax returns. They were very minor, but not comforting knowing the person we rely on for this is making mistakes. When we asked him about what happened, he brushed it off as no big deal...okay fine, we moved past it. This year, he provided us with withholding consultation, which we paid extra for, that was WAY off. We noticed the inconsistencies in early April and brought them to his attention, to which he requested we follow up after tax season (understandable). We then met with him when schedules allowed, and it was clear he was completely lost on how our income works, and let me tell you, it's not that complex at all! He then had the nerve to ask us to pay for these services again! When I questioned him on this and reminded him that we had already paid for these services and that he missed the mark, he completely ghosted us. We left countless voicemails, sent a bunch of emails, and he would not respond. This went on over the course of 5 weeks, it was clear he was avoiding me. He never took the time to ask simple questions about our income and, even worse, made assumptions about how we earn our yealy incomes. He completely relied on this tax accounting software to do the work for him, and unfortunately for us, that still requires some level of competence... I'm writing this review to save others from the pain of having to go through this, do yourself a favor, and look elsewhere. read more

Another great tax prep experience with Stu Goldberg. Myself and family have worked with Stu for 6 years for both our personal returns and multiple LLC's. Prior to moving our tax work to Stu we had been with a big box Accountancy firm. I went on a tireless search for an independent CPA, interviewing several. The consistency and benefit of working with an individual who has the knowledge and background of his clients is indispensable. He is an excellent communicator and his advise is thoughtful and sound and his work thorough. I am always impressed at how well informed he is on the most current tax codes and his ability to express himself in layman terms. A delightful person, with a wonderful sense of humor. Those other reviewers must be friends. I sat with Stuart and thought, this is going to be a great business relationship. He took the time to understand my file and my lifestyle as it pertains to my assets, we agreed on a price, I left my papers with him and never heard from him again. 2 weeks later I sent a note asking when I should hear from him. He responded next week. A month later I told him I don't need his services anymore and he responded immediately that he will mail the papers to me. I don't understand what happened, but communication would help. I only gave more than one star because he was a nice guy... just doesn't do the job. read more

After a miserable experience at H&R Block, I was utterly frustrated with my tax return preparation and made an appointment with Stu based on his very positive Yelp reviews. I'm a consultant with W-2s from CT and NYC. Stu successfully helped me more than double my federal refund and significantly reduce my state taxes in both NY and CT. I made the appointment and thought I forwarded his appointment invitation to my boyfriend, writing "I have an appointment with this guy on Saturday, he has 2 great Yelp reviews and is the only CPA with any -- it's probably his best buddy and his wife but it's worth a shot." To my extreme embarrassment, I had replied to Stu, rather than forwarded my comments to my intended party. Oops! Stu responded saying "you shouldn't be so cynical." I apologized profusely after the mortification set in and decided to attend my appointment anyway and I'm so glad I did!
