Best to walk in for ....Lack of attention when press five for medically related questions. He got four people in front. Lots of employees turn over. Do not go here. A year after services which I paid for at the time of service I started getting hundreds of dollars of bills from him.

After four days of constant coughing and feeling awful, I decide it's time to call the doctor. I wait 45 minutes to be seen by a lady. Her demeanor was very uncaring as I describe my symptoms. She simply prescribes me cough medicine but doesn't do any type of exam at all. I don't think I've ever been to the doctor without them listening to my lungs. Unbeknown to all of us, the cough medicine is unavailable in our town. I call and ask for the prescription to be called into another location. One of the ladies who answered the phone said I would get a call back. It has now been two days without a call. I haven't slept for 6 days due to coughing all day and all night. My experiences with Dr. Lerner have been superb. I am able to get prompt appointments; he reads my charts/lab results; spends time with me and deals with me personally; and has guided me towards improved health. He collaborated with my Cardiologist and facilitated lowering my blood pressure back to normal from very high levels. He has coordinated physical therapy for my lower back problems and worked with my surgeon to get a spinal laminectomy procedure. When I travel, he ensures that I have adequate extra medication. When I am on the mainland, I can contact Dr. Lerner via telehealth for assistance and prescriptions. If I have an urgent need to see him (like yesterday when a small yard work cut was becoming infected), I can see him with less than an hour's wait. Yes, his clinic is fairly large and busy, but the staff have always been helpful, caring, and responsive. This doctor's office is the worst i have ever been to. No response from office staff despite repeated calls and messages through the office portal. No answer when you call to resolve. Sent ultrasound, MRI, and CT scan repeatedly to wrong hospital. They don't care about patients. An hour wait in a room is normal protocol at this office. They are closed on Wednesdays. I am changing doctors and should have done so a long time ago. Zero stars. read more

Beware of Jessica in Dr Lerner's office. She's a terrible employee that hides behind personal issues and takes it out on her patients like me. Rude. Condescending. Impatient, disrespectful and uncaring. I had a legitimate health care issue, and addressing it with her was shockingly uncalled for! To make matters worse, she deleted our text conversation trying to cover up her actions. So terrible. Deleting text conversations are acts of someone who's trying to deliberately hide her poor customer service from potential customers. She should be written up or fired from her job. I love this office because 1. The front desk does things right, the first time. Asking for my medical insurance card and ID everytime I have a visit is the easiest way to avoid medical fraud and proper billing, not to mention when I get referred to a specialist or prescribed medication I am certain my correct demographic and insurance information will be shared correctly. 2. This is probably the only institution on Oahu that accepts walk-in's and telehealth appointments every day for all four providers! On three occasions I came in as a walk-in, provided my insurance card and ID on every visit. I had to wait, which is expected because I just popped in unannounced. I take care of myself but I do tend to need an appointment right away, at the drop of a dime and so long as I come in within their walk-in hours, I was always guaranteed a consultation with a provider. This walk-in ability is totally valuable to me because the old office I was at, I always had to wait weeks, sometimes months for an appointment which costed me hundreds of dollars in emergency room visit. Thank you Dr Lerner and staff for having an institution that allows walk-ins, and if available even telehealth appointments every day that you are open to treat. It makes all the difference. 3. I can communicate with the office via a protected health platform, no more long calls to finally get a live person. I simply text in their Klara system and I get a response within an appropriate amount of time. I've sent my insurance card and ID through the messaging platform. I've asked for a work note through the messaging platform. I've been notified when I was referred to a specialist through the messaging platform. Sometimes the process doesn't make sense but in the long run Dr Lerner and his staff is really apart of trying to do things right the first time and I appreciate all of their efforts. read more

Im happy to report that my health has improved because of suggestions Dr Lerner has made after reviewing information sent to him by my team. Dr Lerner cares about people under his care. Horrible customer service! When called to make an appointment I was told that they took my insurance. I pulled my back out and wanted it to get checked because it has been ongoing pain for about a month now. After moving from VA, I needed a qualified endocrinologist. Unfortunately the one I found was still living in 1983 with her treatments. I researched long and hard until I found Dr. Lerner. He is a bit odd, but he adjusted my thyroid medications so I can live relatively comfortably. I like his staff and front office, very competent. I rarely have any issues. I was checked in for my appointment just fine. I was brought to a room and waited there for about 15 minutes before someone even came in. All they did was check my vitals (BP, pulse, oxygen). Approximately 5-10 minutes later a someone else comes in. It wasn't Lerner, it was one of his fake doctors/practitioners. She checked me out and my concerns for a couple minutes and left the room. After that, NO ONE came to check on me or anything for approximately 40-45 minutes! Then the fake doctor came in with a prescription form, no diagnosis given. When I questioned her why I was waiting for 45 minutes, her excuse was that she couldn't figure out how to use the computer! (No apology for taking so long, just a lame excuse). Should I even trust a "doctor" that can't even use a computer?!? Or even a practice that a "fake doctor" sees you solo, not even shadowed by an "official doctor"?!? TERRIBLE. I have been a patient of Dr Stuart Lerner's since 2009. He really does care about taking care of my health. He has a background in emergency medicine and his office accepts return patients who need to be seen Monday through Friday. He has a very caring staff. Sylvia and Michelle are two of the nicest people and the other ones are just as kind. When I had to be hospitalized at Castle, Dr Lerner came by in the morning before his office hours to check on me at Castle. I take less prescription medication now than I ever have in my adult life. We (my wife and I) had been looking for a general practitioner and were referred to Dr. Lerner. My wife called and made an appointment for her to receive a physical and for me to establish primary care and see about allergy testing. We arrived with our 2 young children (we are new to the island and did not have anyone else to care for them). We waited in the lobby with the kids for 1 hour and 15 minutes, before being called in to see the doctor. We went in and the nurse took our vitals and then left us in a small room with the 2 children for another hour without anyone informing us that it might be a while or checking in on us. Finally, we decided we had to leave because the children couldn't sit there any longer and we were beyond frustrated. As we were about to walk out, Dr. Lerner entered the room and we decided to stay since we had waited so long already. Dr. Lerner was extremely short with us. He informed my wife that he did not have time to do her physical and that she would have to make another appointment. He prescribed her with an antibiotic to help with stomach issues that she brought up. She specifically asked him if she could take the medication while she was breastfeeding, and he said yes. Upon picking up the medication, the instructions said NOT RECOMMEDNED FOR BREASTFEEDING. For my allergy testing, he just ushered me out of the door into the lobby and informed me that I would need to get the testing somewhere else and to make another appointment with him to go over the results. So, after a 2 + hour wait to see the doctor, he did not have time for the physical my wife had made an appointment for, prescribed my wife with medication that she can't take while breastfeeding, and informed me I need to go get the allergy testing done elsewhere. It will be interesting to see what Dr. Lerner billed our insurance for, considering he didn't actually do anything. Our experience at Dr. Lerner's office was, to put is softly, TERRIBLE. read more

He then has several options for you to choose from. Whether you are in to holistic or Naturopathic medicine or straight up old school, he will work with your preferences. This review is for Maria, I did not personally meet her in person but I did speak with her over the phone to get COVID testing for my family. She did say we past the cut off time to get tested at the time I called, and I appreciated the honesty. I had my family come in the next morning and there was a wait time for them to be seen, but I was briefed that that would happen. It is already busy everywhere you go for a COVID test, so I understand. My family was tested by Maria and said she was very friendly, welcoming, and was able to answer their questions. I decided after 15 years of seeing a doctor at Straub Kailua to transfer my care to Dr. Lerner. I did this in hopes that when I was sick I would be able to see my own physician or one of their associates. For, the last two years every time I called I was told to go to an urgent care in town as my Doctor and all other physicians were booked. I have been with Dr. Lerner for about six months and he and his staff have exceeded my expectations. I have never had to wait for more than 24 hours to be seen. I have always been given the option to either wait to see Dr. Lerner in a day or two or to be seen by one of the nurse practitioners. Kathleen, the NP did a thorough assessment, communicated what she felt was the best course of action, and listened to my concerns. I love the office staff. They seem to genuinely like each other and their jobs. Rare these days to find each and every employee skilled when it comes to customer service. I save the best for last and that is Dr. Lerner. First, he helped me to lose thirty pounds in four months. That is epic and award-worthy. But more importantly, he was able to provide me with pain relief in less than 15 minutes for a condition I had been struggling with for over four years. His exam led to the correct diagnosis and treatment that took away the chronic pain. Lastly, I told him how I was getting a lot of migraines as of late. As my botox schedule was thrown off with my neurologist and they were so busy I was going to have to suffer till October as they could not fit me in earlier. He offered to perform the procedure himself the next day if I could pick up my medicine from the neurologist. I voiced my concern as I could not afford to come if the prior authorization was not approved. He told me to come in and that he would do it and not to worry about the cost they would figure it out themselves. He stayed late that day so I would not suffer another day. So, yes Dr Lerner, Kathleen, NP and the staff all get 5 stars, and if I could give them angel wings. read more

This review is on behalf of my husband who was seen by Dr. Economos the other day who is staff at this clinic. His treatment was nothing you want to experience in a doctor's office. Because he did not want or need a covid test he was told to wait in an outside (literally outside) area. A tech was sent outside to do vital signs which is a violation of patient privacy and outright inappropriate! He was then told the doctor would be seeing him outside! He then informed the office they were violating his privacy rights. With an unpleasant attitude he was told to go to a room where he waited over an hour to be seen. When Economos finally showed up she immediately reprimanded him for not having his mask on properly and not taking a covid test and also let him know the room he was in could not be used for 48 hours. Harassment. She never checked his lungs even though he was there to get meds for coughing. The entire visit was entirely unprofessional and inappropriate for a supposed doctor visit. My husband has been a long time patient with Dr. Lerner but we've noticed the high turnover of medical people he brings in and a decline in what we think is a good medical office. read more

Dr. Lerner was my primary care for a year. Well I mean his NPs were my primary care for the first few visits, whom I did not like. So I changed to Dr. Lerner. After a blood panel was done, he suggested me to take this supplement that he sold at his office, which I later realized he sold TWICE as much as Amazon. I went in the office another time with a perforated eardrum (that i later found out at an ENT). He mocked me for worrying about it being perforated, said it was just "swimmer ear." He even said "if you were to show up at the ER or ENT, they would just make fun of you." He told me "water was the best cure" for my symptoms. My pain went on for a few more days and I went to an ENT regardless of Dr. Lerner's discouragement. Turned out I did have a perforated eardrum and my ears had to STAY AWAY from the water for a month. I was in such disbelief regarding the recommendations I got from Dr. Lerner so I called his office about it to make sure that this kind of treatment wouldnt happen to other patients. However, to my surprise, Dr. Lerner's response to my supplement price complaint was "I always provide my patients the best price. If there were cheaper options somewhere else, I'd suggest them to buy those instead." He didn't even apologize or even acknowledge my point of view. He was more of an arrogant salesperson than a medical provider. So far he provided me nothing but misdiagnosis, undedicated NPs and overpriced supplement. Dr Lerner, I hope you try to remember the Hippocratic Oath that you took at medical school. You should strive to provide patients the best care with respect to each individual. Just because you are MD doesn't make you more superior than others. Sometimes you just have to admit you are wrong and you improve next time. Thanks but no thanks. read more

If I could give Dr. Lerner negative stars I would. I had an appointment back in July. They had me wait an hour and then came in to tell me that he would be a bit longer. I had to leave because I have three children at home and my husband needed to get back to work. Anyway, I received a bill from them in the mail yesterday and I'm beside myself. I've contacted my insurance company to let them know that this is a fraudulent claim. Find another doctor! read more

I read the reviews before changing to Dr. Lerner from a previous doctor. There was a bad review on the waiting time after being checked in. I mentioned it to him when I first met him and he said there was an emergency. I asked if that happened during my visits if he would tell one of his staff to let me know so I could leave and reschedule instead of waiting over an hour and he agreed. So far he has helped me figure out the causes of my symptoms and not just treat symptoms. Phone call ins for refills needs improvement but overall good doctor open to alternative solutions. read more

I was transferred to this doctor after my original doctor moved to the mainland. This is a farce of a practice. If you are sick, he forces you to come in only to pass you off to a nurse practitioner who gives advice that I could have found on the internet. All the while Dr. Lerner is walking around the office doing who knows what. They moved offices and although I spoke with the receptionist, she never mentioned it and so I find out by going to his old office. When I get to the new office I asked the receptionist why she didn't let me know they had moved.
