This review is for the McCormick Student Center in which I took the Chicago Architecture…read moreFoundation's Tour of Highlights By Bus and we stopped here to explore the unique architecture of the Chicago L which runs through a metal tube into the interior. The tour also visited the R. Crown Building designed by famous architect and former professor Mies van der Rohe. The R. Crown Building is a unique structure with an H-style architectural beam design which provides a wide open space for students in architecture to learn. Bright light, thoughtful ventilation system, interior blocking of the street level in the drafting table area so that the students would not be "distracted" by the outside activity. A sculpted bust of Mr. Rohe is located immediately upon entering the building to the left. Interesting fact is that the "i ball" was held in 1959 and Duke Ellington was hired to perform for the students and their guests! McCormick Student Center is a unique structure in that it was designed in which the Chicago L runs right through a tube in the building..you can hear the train! Wide open spaces inside which are functional for students including a store, cafeteria, and study areas complete with a 3D printer!!!

Crown Hall is one of the world-renowned buildings and has been commemorated on postage stamps. The new kid on the block is the brash bright orange McCormick Tribune Campus Center by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas. It is a shocking contrast to the Miesian grid of the campus, but it is a breath of fresh air. If you are in the neighborhood to see a White Sox game, check out IIT too.

Just last year I had cataracts removed from both eyes by one of their best ophthalmologists, Dr Dawson. I was frequently followed up by the staff doctors post surgery. I had an appointment on Wednesday of this month and was treated with the same respect and care I've come to deserve. I highly recommend this facility for adults and children for the various services it provides.

It has a national reputation and has over 8,000 alumni. Additionally their clinic, the Illinois Eye Institute, provides excellent care to an underserved community and is the largest Medicaid eye care provider in the state of Illinois.

Campus grounds are right off 94 and butt up to red line CTA. What little of the campus I saw did not stand out. Surrounding grounds in common area used as frisbee golf. Parking was limited but I think everyone was able to find an OK place to park without too much hassle. Close to Sox so street parking is not happening during games. Some decent places to grab a bite to eat nearby that have good reviews. The music staff/students from the college that hosted were congenial, friendly and selfless with their time.

We came here for a Humanities Festival book discussion and signing (Ijeoma Oluo: Be A Revolution)…read more This is located on the IIT campus, but near public transportation. The center is very nicely laid out. We arrived and observed a table with more information about the events taking place in the center. We had a short while before the event so we relaxed on the wide stairs (like bleacher seats) with pads for sitting. This gave us a nice view of the campus, but the area is also used for movie screenings. There are probably other rooms in the area that are used for the technical/technological advances and inventions that the namesake Kaplan was known for, but we were just there for the book discussion. We proceeded to the room, which was laid out nicely with chairs, a stage and microphones. It was a nice discussion and a good venue for the event. I liked the Women's room bathrooms with the sanitary logos on the door, to indicate that free sanitary items were available in there!

Terrible overhead lineman program. Basically have to teach yourself. All you do is read from the…read morebook and get tests on completely different questions that were not in the reading. Terribly run, constant changing schedule, hard to contact the school when having trouble. The only good thing is the cafeteria staff and food. I give them 5 stars.
