I wish I could have been there in person to take my classes and present my capstone project. There was one professor that I didn't love but overall the classes were great and I got so much out of the readings, assignments, and meetings. To give you a short summary of my Capstone presentation assignment, I was supposed to design an animal-assisted therapy program and present it in front of our peers, school advisor, and capstone professor. I loved presenting in front of my class and thoroughly enjoyed it. I've always loved working with animals and working with children and this is my first step toward living that dream!

This is definitely not a program you just "buy" a degree - it wasn't an easy program. I completely disagree with the previous review, as graduate degrees from a accredited school that is highly respected, as DU is, will set you way above people that just hold undergraduate degrees and even some graduate degrees. I have a Master of Professional Studies with emphasis in Organizational Leadership and Human Resources Administration, and have been told by recruiters that this degree ranks equal with an MBA with the same concentrations. I work in HR and I 100% degree. Just Google how many other big name colleges offer a Master of Professional Studies. A lot! University College gave me the flexibility to work full-time and attend school full-time and I graduated in under 2 years. It is also a substantially less expensive program compared to other graduate schools, and you still get a degree from reputable private school (University of Denver). Also, without this degree many doors that weren't open to me before have now opened. I had great instructors, fabulous advisors, and an all around great experience. It is not an easy school, but your hard work will be rewarded at the end when you have that piece of paper. I am a huge supporter of DU - University College. No education is a waste, this will get you better jobs and more money. I would do it over in a heartbeat and do refer this school to others.

I am happy to say that I have been and continue to be impressed with the level of attention and instruction they receive. The school offers a variety of programs, many at no or low cost, for students both before and after school. This not only exposes the kids to something new (outside of the school day) but it excites them to go and participate during the day. While the teaching methods and curriculum took some getting used to, the girls were able to transition and excel in the new format. My only complaint with this is the grading. Instead of the alphanumeric scale (0-100 = A, B, C, etc) The students are graded on a 4 point scale with each number reflecting the areas the student has mastered.The teachers take a hands on approach, including keeping the lines of communication open to make sure the kids are getting the support they need. The principal, Mr. McDowell, is very friendly and always smiling. He is truly a positive force.

Only 1 of the 4 in sports medicine even got a real job in the field. In the hip/knee class, only the young, white males got jobs with companies like Smith and Nephew, DePuy Synthes, etc. Those jobs pay salaries and bonuses over 6 figures. The other guys over 35 took 1099 jobs or ended up back in their old careers within 18 months. Being a 1099 rep, is not a real job for what you spend at MSC because you can get that without the benefit of a certificate from MSC. This school is very slick with the marketing, but that placement rate only works for those folks on the graduate testimonial page. And really...only those in the big name companies are going to make that 6 figure mark in the first 2 years on the job. Choose wisely. You'd be better off going to surgical tech training, working in the ER for 6 months and then applying to a big company. Better ROI regardless of your age/race.

Now, my husband (also an RMSEL graduate) and I are looking at the school for our kindergarten-aged child. While RMSEL has grown and changed over the years, I believe its core values remain the same. The key takeaways I received from my time there are life skills that have followed me into adulthood and served me well in my career--resiliency, problem-solving, and independence. The expeditions were life-changing in so many ways: they offered my first experiences with developing countries, and they required a level of self-discipline that shaped who I am today. We currently have friends whose children are in kindergarten at RMSEL, and we love hearing about their experiences. Small class sizes, meeting children where they are, and introducing expeditions at such a young age are key reasons we're excited to return as a family. As a teenager, RMSEL was a blessing to me, even when I didn't always see it that way. Returning as an adult, I could recognize how the expeditions build resilience--even when the students themselves don't yet realize it. This school pushes kids to step outside their comfort zones, and many won't appreciate the benefits until years later. The very things I resisted as a teen are now the things I credit most for my personal growth.
