They have some newer stuff, like battle ropes, which are utterly great for a fun, engaging workout. Most importantly for me is nice free weights, which they have. And it's pretty quiet due to the age limit on members they have, keeping it to basically adults or high school freshman and older. All in all, this is a great gym with showers for those early risers. It's also a 24-7 gym, so you can come in and get yo workout on at anytime in the day, In a small town nonetheless! So nice and refreshing to have top notch exercise facilities in a rural setting. You can tell that the owners want this to be a top notch facility with a reasonable membership (~$35 a month) that offer modern, fun workout classes with great, clean equipment. The only thing that could make this place a smidgeon better would be is if there was an extra restaurant somewhere on site to give Charles City another, much needed restaurant! Thai please! Some negatives are the very cheap paper towels for wiping down machines. They have absolutely no absorbency. Formerly members could request a small towel for wiping machines with disinfectant after using them. Also the disinfectant spray no longer smells like it has any disinfectant in it. Maybe it's being watered down. Most bothersome is one of the employees who gets way too familiar with the patrons. I dislike her VERY snoopy questions. I try to stay away from her, but she often makes a point of tracking me down, even following me into the locker room. She has made rude comments about other employees claiming she does all the work. Other employees are friendly but maintain a professional distance. I see them cleaning and topping off the "disinfectant" while she sits or chats up other members.

I started this endeavor, by going to one app I always turn too: Yelp. Thankfully, I actually have somewhat of a reception, so my search responded with two fitness centers. Ironically, they are literally directly across from one another on Main Street. I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I called one fitness center and was informed to come down immediately after I talked to the owner himself. So, I went inside looking for him and made no contact, in turn, I called him again, only learning he was across the street standing outside waving at me. Upon my arrival, I was met by the owner named Jarod Burt himself. Very nice guy and personable, plus he's quite big muscular wise. He gave me a tour of his facility, which I remember it being a hardware store as a kid. Gym is a 24/7 style establishment with clients given a key to unlock the door. Plenty of towels for personal and wiping off equipment. Two bathrooms, which are unisex. No shower facilities though. Parking is primarily on main street and I saw no handicapped parking either. There are two TV's on 24/7 and Pandora. Equipment wise; e.g., cardio equipment, weight machines and free weights. I'm glad I signed up to this gym, which I'll visit every time I return home to check on my mother.
