We communicated beforehand to organize the private event to make sure the date/time slot was open, security deposit was met, payment was collected fairly, and we agreed upon an example painting that I found online. They pre-sketched a generic version of our dog beforehand with the set up of supplies and they instruct and guide us through the painting process. They demonstrate and show us what colors to use. They basically guided us through how to get the basic foundation of our painting and then we have the chance to personalized and add more to our liking. Everyone painted the same concept of painting but all of the paintings turned out differently so that was neat! They come around and help you with your painting if you have any questions. They also kindly refill any paint colors you need more of as many times as you need. They also offered a complimentary glass of wine (rosé) to everyone as well. Everything was very chill and relaxed. It's an intimate setting with a capacity of 14 people. One guy instructed the painting process while the other guy served our wine and gave us some facts about Pomona. They were both very friendly! I think this is a good opportunity for people who have never painted to try things out and also a nice opportunity for more experienced painters to just play around. It's also a cool thing to do to hang out and be creative! Our time slot was from 10am-12:30pm but we ended up starting about 20 minutes late because they were still setting the supplies up and some people were running late and we finished around 1:40pm but they didn't even rush us to leave! They also cleaned everything up for us when we were done. My friend and I accidentally broke one of their wine glasses and they also didn't mind! Sorry and thank you for the hospitality! I'm actually going to cohost another event with them again in May cause I had so much fun! Free parking is available behind the building, on the street, or by the train tracks across the street.

I can only speak on the kid's cooking class as I know the reviews are a bit different for the…read moreadults. When I walked in, we were greeted very friendly by the front desk and instructors. It was our first time and they made us feel extremely welcomed and invited. That's a HUGE green flag in my book. You want to be around people excited about their job and what they do. When I went to pick up my friend's kid, he was very excited for what he cooked. I got to try some of the pizza he made and honestly, the crust was better than a lot of the pizza joints out there and the crust I've made before. He's in the older class (pre teens and teens) and seemed to enjoy cooking with them. Afterwards, the front desk told us about the different classes and programs. We got the recipe for this week and past weeks so we can try them at home as some of the items caught my eye. He loved the class and will be going back. If your kid has an eye on cooking and wants to learn, I'd definitely sign them up here. It's always good to have some hands on help to ask questions and learn. Wish they had more classes and we missed out on sign ups for the summer. It's $40 a class or 4 weeks is $145 I believe. 90 minute classes. Since they already have the ingredients and everything, it's worth the price.

I'm currently taking watercolor lessons with her, and today was my second class. What makes Elizabeth so special is that she teaches far beyond painting. She shares years of wisdom and experience about both art and life. Every class has a real lesson plan and homework. She starts with the basics, works with you on what you want to learn, and personally checks your work, writing progress notes in her beautiful handwriting. She teaches techniques and approaches that you simply don't find on YouTube. Today she taught me the steps of "drawing three ways," "sit and think in color," "block," and "paint." She also lent me two of her watercolor books on tips and techniques to study at home. She generously lends books every week and even gave me a palette with her colors from her tubes. She spends time helping you choose the right paints and brushes and every week she gives me two sheets of watercolor paper and said, "Go play with it." That encouragement alone made me smile. "Choose (to paint) what inspires you..a thought, a dream, an image or real life" One of my favorite lessons from her has nothing to do with technique. She taught me never to say "I messed up." Instead, say "It wasn't supposed to be this way." What a beautiful way to look at art -- and life. Elizabeth is not just a teacher. She gets to know you as a person, listens to you, and somehow feels a little like a therapist, too. You can tell she genuinely cares about her students. She also does drawing and watercolor and is starting Expressive art therapy sessions soon! At $60 per class, I feel I'm getting so much more than a watercolor lesson. I'm getting an education, mentorship, encouragement, creativity, and wisdom from someone with decades of experience. If you have the opportunity to learn from Elizabeth, take it!
