What to say... Master Pak is hands down THE most generous, uplifting, firm, gracious, encouraging, sincerity, fun, joyful, calm, and cool mentor to his students. We've been coming here for ~2 years or maybe more I can't remember and our kid really looks up to Master Pak and we feel blessed to have a great mentor like him in our kid's life. During the Halloween the kids have an amazing party the fog machine, lights and fun contests. Holiday parties are always a hit with food, snacks and the white elephant circus that happens with all the kids loosing their minds over gifts! My daughter has really enjoyed classes here, and the quality of instruction has even improved since we joined in December. The classes are separated by age and skillset at the right grouping in my opinion. There is the perfect mix of skill building games and specific move learning. The other parents are pretty friendly which is nice too. Sign up and discontinuing are both easy and clear processes. The instructors have approaches to demand respect without yelling or loud noises like the other studios we toured. The owner is excellent with sensitive and mildly special needs kids too. Studio kicks is a part time karate studio and part time kickboxing gym - so they offer classes all around for kids and adults. For me i joined the kickboxing classes-and they have somewhat of a taibo feel to it. Like you're in a class and you're led by this super crazy fit gym instructor that seems to have crazy amounts of energy. Seriously leave this class sweating bullets. I discovered this place through groupon. So far, I have attended 2 cardio kickboxing classes wit Christi. I love the classes! They fly by and are an AMAZING cardio workout for someone like me who hates running. If I came here regularly I'm sure I'd see major results. They don't provide any instruction so I'm not sure if I am doing the moves correctly, but it definitely keeps me moving. I do feel the prices are a little high at at $23 for a drop in class, or $18/class if you buy an 8 pack. Yes this is on par with other boutique studios in the area, but as this is clearly not a boutique studio and doesn't offer "extras" I don't see why the price needs to be quite so steep. My daughter Charlotte has been attending Taekwondo since March this year. We moved from another studio and I have to say what a huge difference I saw in her technique and forms since then - this was definitely the best decision we made. Master Pak makes sure every kid learns all their forms, kicks, combos and are perfect in each before moving them along. Charlie loves the classes so much, she doesn't want to miss a single day and what's great is that the class is offered 6 days a week. Master Pak and his assistant Brandon are just incredible and work tirelessly to provide a fun, energetic and engaging environment so the kids not only learn the way of Tae Kwon Do but also have fun at the same time. For me, the most important was that Charlotte was learning self defense skills and strength, building up her confidence, learning respect and many other life skills that make her a better human being. In our quest to find a new and more exciting cardio workout,(preferably including boxing) my guy and I took a free class here on Saturday morning. The studio is clean, and the guy at the desk was nice enough. I didn't like that the instructor was miked and therefore, couldn't really give much direction. We also had an issue with the stand up bags. They weren't weighed down enough,and my husband had to make his punches much less intense so as not to knock it over. I liked the class, it was very fast paced, and definitely got my heart rate up and got me sweating. Since I'm not the most coordinated person, i had a little trouble with the punching/kicking combos, but I'm sure if i continued taking classes here I'd improve. If you're looking for a new, and more challenging cardio workout, I'd definitely recommend taking a class here. 45 min of the most intense cardio I've ever had in my life...even more so since I haven't done any form of cardio in over a year. Once it's time for class to start, the instructor is already pumped and going. The moves seem fast initially but it's easy to catch up. They have you moving the whole time and it was great sweating bullets and making my legs sore. However, I wish they had some warm up or stretching routine before jumping right into intense/agressive moves but I guess you do it on your own before class. The staff and instructors are real nice and not pretentious--unlike some other studios in LG--so I was quite comfortable. I'm also glad they let you try the first class for free before making any financial commitment. If I wasn't on a budget right now, I would fork over the $79 every month but I'm a poor grad student. There are chain martial arts studios, people who earned their Black Belts through a studio chain and than there is Studio Kicks; people who are professional and love martial arts. I've been doing different styles of martial arts for about 20 years. In that time, I've had good and bad experiences. The difference with Studio Kicks is that the staff is professional, VERY encouraging on what you can accomplish towards your goals, sympathetic towards any existing problems or injuries, and let you move towards goals at your own pace while encouraging you to do better. Safety for children and adults is ALWAYS placed first. As if that's not enough, there are NO CONTRACTS!! You can join by paid class cards or month to month, but you don't have to buy into yearly contracts. Have to take time away from exercicing? Use their "Hold" program so you can pay minimal fees and come back when convenient. I've been a Studio Kicks member since July of 2006, and I can't give a higher recommendation. I take ongoing Taekwondo classes with a K2 class thrown in now and again, and it's not an understatement to say that my time spent with the staff and other students has been life changing. The instruction is top notch, and Mr. Tim Dilbeck has earned his place as a trusted advisor and friend; he inspires dedication and effort in my determination to become better at my chosen martial art on a daily basis. After 8 years, I still look forward to each and every class. Mr. Dilbeck and his staff are highly proficient not only in teaching Taekwondo, MMA and self defense practices, but in multiple hand weapons as well, which creates variation in training opportunities and prevents skill plateau, especially once upper belt levels are achieved. Of note is that belt progression is actually earned through hard work and determination, not by simply showing up. This is a school that embraces traditional etiquette without being overbearing, and I have yet to see an example of disrespectful behavior from instructors, staff or other students. Friendships have grown, creating an extended family environment, one that welcomes new people and embraces diversity. New students are welcomed warmly, and experienced students are encouraged to share knowledge. My son has been attending the Tae Kwan Do courses and loves it. Plenty of classes to choose from and the instructors are great. I really appreciate how the instructors show the kids to focus, be respectful, not tolerate any silliness but not by talking down or disrespecting the kids. I've been coming here for a few months now and was introduced to them by their Groupon deal (3 cardio kickboxing (K1) classes for $10!!!). I've been meaning to try kickboxing so finding this sweet deal was perfect for me. The K1 cardio kickboxing class is opened to all skill levels, as long as you're able to listen to instructions and adapt quickly. You'll do moves like jabs, upper cut, jumping jacks, kicks, squats & much much more. If you're newbie who's not as agile, it might be pretty intimidating. (It may also be intimidating seeing older women in the room being more fit than you -___- the gunshow is fierce here). I did a pretty good job keeping pace with everyone and always feel great after each class. I'm a big fan of instructor James! He's high energy, motivating but will also make sure you work your butt off! I've been to both his Saturday morning classes and his Tuesday evening classes and have enjoyed both classes. I like how he switches up the moves every class I've been to so I'm never feeling bored. Plus, he has a great playlist! I'd recommend coming in about 5-10 minutes beforehand to eye for a spot on the floor to "reserve". There's no capacity limit to how many people can be in one class, so keep that in mind. Overall, I'm a fan of this place and it's given me the cardio workout I've been needing. I even bought another round of classes to continue here! Even if you don't commit to buying their Groupon deal, first timers can attend their first class for FREE! It's definitely a place worth checking out. read more

I hold a black belt in traditional karate and teach in Milpitas. I need some extra cardio workout and have been coming to Studiokicks for years. Due to work & karate schedule, I can only come on weekends. I do K1 & K2 double workouts on both days. Usually James, who I like, teaches on Saturdays only, but it's good to see the different styles of different instructors. Even though K1 is less advanced than K2, it is actually harder and moves at twice the K2 pace. I always have to remind yourself not to burn myself out before the following K2 class. One of the things I like about Studiokicks is the energy generated in class. As K1 classes are larger, with all the people going full force, that really motivate & push you on. It's funny at times I find the cool down drills at class-end are just as tough. After a week's hard work, I love to sleep in on weekends, but I still find myself setting the stupid alarm for Studiokicks. read more

I LOVE studio kicks. I always come here for K1 cardio kickboxing when I'm home for the summer from college because I'm always too lazy to motivate myself to work out. They usually have a summer deal, or a deal for students, which is great for my college student budget. This is the perfect place to go to if you're looking for a cardio workout that also tones you and increases your flexibility. I'll admit, i'm probably the least flexible person in the entire world (can't touch my toes) but I still love coming here. (I can't kick as high as everyone else, but I'm trying!) There is a different instructor each night, which is great because the instructors have slight variations in the moves they do. Because they're new location doesn't have a parking lot, they said you can park in the DMV parking lot across the street, or in the wells fargo lot behind the building as long as it's not wells fargo business hours. (I believe you can't park there Monday-Friday 9-6, which is fine for me because afternoon K1 classes on the week days start after 6) Some classes are more crowded than others (Tuesday night with James is really crowded) so you can choose which ones you want to go to depending on how comfortable you are with people sweating close to you. I personally don't mind the crowded classes, because I'm more motivated when I see a lot of people doing the moves with me. This place is seriously way better than a gym. I've taken other kickboxing classes at school and at my old gym, but the classes at studio kicks are way more intense, and i always feel so accomplished after finishing a class. read more

This may be a great place for adults to have a great workout. My child had a very negative experience. He attended camp and was struck by an instructor on the head by a numb chuck. When I asked the instructor what happened, she explained that she "love tapped" my child and apologized to him. She told a very different story to the owner. I requested an in-person meeting with the instructor and owner, since the stories that were told to both of us by the instructor were very different. The meeting never happened. I remember I was in the 5th grade when I was looking for a new studio. I trained with Studio kicks when they were still in the Saratoga Village.. how many folks can say that? I first met a guy named Chris A. who assessed where I was at (I was going from Shotokan to Tae Kwon Do--which are different) then I went to the premiere screening of Ninja Turtles-- I can still remember the demos and the crazy radio dj... I was hooked. Sigh I have a lot of great memories of Studio Kicks. I got up to a 2nd degree black belt before I had drama at home-- then college.....and I stopped going. What they taught me discipline and resiliency wise was priceless. During a very difficult time in my adolescence and early adulthood they were like a family to me. Ricky Donaldson is someone I will always remember.... we did everything together... I wonder what happened to him. Larry and his brother Sam are awesome. It is great to hear they continue to do well. On the rare occasion I am in Los Gatos and have to go to WAMU I take a quick peak inside. I miss it....maybe once I am done with my master's program I will go back.... I am also glad to hear there is no more drama! During the time I went there-- there was definitely some telenovela drama going on.... that was ten years ago and from what it sounds like, times have changed :-D. I got my first teaching gig here when I was 14-- 13 years later I am a teacher and a counselor... imagine that.... It was there I realized I could not teach "tiny turtles"-- preschool and first graders.... and I decided to teach high school. Larry Lam is truly amazing. I watched his demo reel and was very impressed--he's basically one of those ubiquitous Asian guys with killer martial arts skills who's been beaten down by dozens of Hollywood celebrities in all sub-genres of action film, or he is one of the guys who doubles action sequences for famous actors. Wow!! Even though I don't think Lam actually teaches these days, I tried the cardio kickboxing classes here. They are very good. The instructor was great and had a lot of energy. The class was packed, and the students seemed very motivated. I enjoyed the workout. I like that they also offer Tae Kwon Do. Make sure to bring plenty of water because it can get hot in the room during summer, and if you are sensitive to loud sounds, you may want to bring a pair of ear plugs. The place is on the smaller side and the speakers are powerful so there's a lot of sound reverberating and projecting inside the room. read more

I have been going here for a few years now. It is my favorite form of exercise and I love it! Classes get EXTREMELY crowded with James, which I don't like, so I don't go. It gets so crowded I feel like I cant do all the kicks and movements. Also, some of the teachers aren't the best...but I always love Jeff's classes, Julisa, Nicks, James' K2 (dont like K1 because they are too crowded), and Lori's. TBC on Tues nights also gets too crowded for my own preference. If they could add more classes at an early time (about 530) that would be much better too....but even with these few complaints, I still go back many times a week. read more

I first started coming here because they had a Groupon deal: Unlimited 1 month of Cardio Kickboxing for $50. But before I got the deal, I went to one class for free. It's free for the 1st time for everyone. I thought it was a pretty good deal and was actually only planning on doing it for one month only but I ended up liking it. It's super close to my house, it's fun, and you get a good workout! The only thing is that it's expensive but I like going to classes than going to a gym and working out so I thought I would get my moneys worth if I do kickboxing than going to the gym (because I'd probably not go much). Honestly Cardio Kickboxing is so hard because you're constantly moving around and jumping or hopping. I died. But you have to keep going and you'll get better at it and it won't be as hard. I really like it. For first timers, it's OKAY to not know what to do. They don't do things step by step and teach you how to do each move. You just have to watch and follow but I think once in awhile they have special sessions that teach you how to do the moves correctly. Each class/session is 45mins. Unlimited kickboxing is $99/month. If you plan to go only twice a week, it's cheaper to get unlimited than buying per class. I really like James, the instructor. I think a lot of people like him so that's why Tues/Thurs nights are always crowded (when he's teaching). Julisa (girl instructor) is really good too. She really pushes you to push yourself and is super helpful. (TIP: just make sure to stretch before. Makes a huge difference if you don't) read more

Finally came and checked out a class! I've been wanting to for ages, but never got to it until today. I used to walk by the Campbell studio every Sunday on my way to the farmer's market, and the loud music and miked instructor always amped me up and made me want to join in. Now that I've done it, I can say that it's pretty much everything I had hoped for. It's a butt-kicking, high-adrenaline workout with great (if perhaps somewhat too loud) music and an intense instructor. The only thing I didn't anticipate is that it's the exact same thing as Tae Bo. I used to use Tae Bo videos regularly, and the K1 class is made up of exactly the same moves. However, this class is significantly harder than the videos. They keep you moving the entire hour at a very high pace. I was drenched in sweat by the time I was done. Great workout! read more
