The location is beautiful and the space is just lovely, and I was told it'd be opening up even more room to teach more students in just a month or so! The vibe is serene (and there's lots of good parking!), and the teachers are all clearly as excited as their students to bring their love of music and education to the table ever since this place opened in January. I believe in such an attitude, and feel it's one of the paramount traits to have to help spur both children and adults alike into finding their own love of music and learning within themselves. Having been a music teacher myself for the past 15+/- years, it put a huge smile on my face to also learn that this is currently the only music school in Moraga; to think, they're bringing more of this joy that I share to more places out there that could definitely benefit from it! Absolutely wonderful. During our first meeting, I played couple pieces including a Baroque and a Classical Repertoires, a Post romantic Repertoire and a Contemporary Jazz piece. Our very first lesson, and every lesson after, I've always been greeted with a warm smile as well a cup of coffee which allowed us to catch up quickly on the week and jump right into our lesson. Jacob has always made it a priority to teach songs that I like(HUGE BONUS) which makes our weekly sessions so much more fun (After my second lesson, I was already playing one song confidently) Jacob is very patient and always available!! I decided I should probably find a guitar instructor in the area. I couldn't ask for more in a guitar teacher. Jacob is as enthused as it gets. I don't think it's possible to leave a session without being pumped up to go home and start practicing. He's very good at communicating and has a lot of energy. He's super knowledgable about all kinds of genres of music. He's very organized and creates a clear plan for making sure you get the most out of your lessons, practice, and even casual listening. That's not to say he isn't flexible, he definitely is and it's refreshing that he can play all different kinds of music, including metal and post-hardcore punk which I think is kind of hard to find in a lot of instructors. He even emails you all your materials and takes videos for you. If you ever start struggling between sessions you can just text him and he gets back to you fast with a video, text, email, whatever it takes. He really cares about his students. Yelp is a good place here. - terrible management (extremely worse) - when the class was cancelled, no one notified me - never followed up for any concerns - their lessons didn't follow based on the lesson plan on their website, my child didn't learned much especially they only taught so little from the book material and spent most of the other time on something else - teacher showed up late many times - they never answered phone call or responded to your emails (I tried 3 times in a week for over 2 weeks, then I finally gave up) - some students were out of control and disturbed the class, but the school didn't take any actions or make any improvement - extremely disappointed because I was expected this place would have high standard with clear lesson plans and their costs were high. However, I was wrong! Disappointed! - I can guarantee you that you can find a better place elsewhere than Musically Minded Academy.

My child was one of the youngest, so her participation was mainly around thinking about what character she wanted to be in the play while the older kids helped write out the plot and script. Everyone then worked on costumes and the set decorations. My child enjoys arts and crafts was very proud of her contributions to the props. They then rehearse which is a bit challenging for younger children - the concept of practicing and performing didn't take hold until day 4 and they had to do some re-writing to accommodate my child's ability to remember/say lines. Anna was very patient and able to meet her at her level. Everything worked out in the end and the Friday performance was adorable. It's definitely more of a casual, family-run place which is refreshing though it may not work well for children that require a lot of supervision. All in all, my child has fond memories of her experience and I know that it'll be much easier for her to participate in future performance-based events.
