We own our home and had a roof although wasn't leaking was very old and it was only a matter of time before something big was going to go wrong. We called all the local roofing companies to come out and give us a bid on our new roof. We checked for warranty, length and coverage. Was the company going to guarantee their work? How will they apply the new roof? Although many of the companies sounded good we went with Stutzman and Kropf as they seemed to be the most used company and they were local and wanted to help a local company. They also had an outside the company warranty. Through much investigation my husband searched the brand of shingles and ridge venting as it was recommended to be the best venting. This was all discussed with the foreman and an appointment was made to install our roof. We were initially happy with the work the speed and quality at first. Seemingly everything went well until three years after the installation and we had to get into our attic space for something and it was socking wet, sounded and felt like it was raining in our attic. Of course this was alarming and devastating to find. We called S&K to come look and what the heck was going on. They pointed to everything but the obvious change which was the new roof even, telling us it was our breathing... Over the next several months we looked for explanation of what was going on we had several other companies out to look at what was taking place and each of them seem to fall back on the fact that our ridge vent either wasn't big enough or wasn't working properly. Most companies upon learning who did the roof refused a bid on fixing our roof. Four companies where visibly nerves and refused to give us a bid in writing. One company pinned S&K as the company that says they do something and do something else, nothing was said on my part as to which company it was. I was also told that the owner was nice but would never trust S&K with his house or money. That was very alarming as we are feeling as though we are losing our house and everything we had put into it, and now black mold appeared in a child's room. Home owners insurance doesn't cover this kind of damage either as its due to a fault of another company not acts of nature. We payed extra money for the larger warranty an finally got ahold of the company that holds the 25 year warranty on our roof. He's was a venting engineer also and was certain he could figure out the problem. Specifically he noticed no air flow at the ridge of our roof, then upon further investigation per the warranty we purchase we had the wrong ridge vent. This was after S&K assured us they did there job correct and the problem was clearly the home not the roof. When we had another meeting with the local company owner, he offered no apology for putting the wrong ridge vent on and just wanted to fix it but offered little remorse for the damage. We were very upset but wanted the problem fixed the company then paid for mold remediation but offer no other compensation for any other damage. including our house paint that was painted the year before we got the roof and now has black tar from under the shingles staining our house and sidewalk. My husband is disabled and uses medical marijuana which is dried the the attic space, half of the medicine for 2016 was lost to mold as we had to wait to harvest until late in the season. Our furnace stopped working in 2015, judging from how wet it was when we discovered the venting issue it most likely shorted out due to water. We lost a few other family heirloom items due to went and mold. Mold crept through the sheet rock in my sons room and my family has more respiratory illness in the last year than ever. Our paint and the underlayment of the roof lay wet for a long time and paint is ruined but S&K claim no responsibility. Im sure they count on people not having money to pursue justice as that is the case with us too. Im a veteran and take care of my family and husband who is disabled. There are other local companies to use but will say buyer be ware of this particular company. Im shocked and sickened by what has happened to us and just hope it doesn't happen to anyone else. Please check your venting and attic space often especially in the cold snaps and winter. Thanks. read more

I highly recommend Stutzman and Kropf Contractors! My experience from the beginning was a sigh of relief when Lauren answered the phone. She was very kind and knowledgeable. All of my questions were answered and I was told I would get a call when crew was en route. Very soon after I got a call back. The crew showed up very polite and found the issues right away. They explained what was happening and showed me pictures of the problems on my roof. After that I knew I should get an estimate on replacing my roof as it is 20 years old. I called the office back and Lauren set up an appointment for an estimate. Kerry arrived on time and did a thorough inspection and was patient with my questions. I did not feel pressured or pushed. Showed up fully prepared and organized the very knowledgeable team and their operations manager, Courtney, is extremely knowledgeable and made the entire process so seamless. There's nothing they can't do. The cost was comparable to other companies, but their follow-through and their attention to detail is flawless, and their responsiveness is unmatched. They were on time and finished replacing my roof in record time. I've never seen another crew finish an entire roof in such a short amount of time and a lot of my neighbors have had to have their roofs replaced, and it takes at least double the amount of time with other companies to finish. Shortly after the snow melted, I noticed a wet spot on my living room ceiling. I called a contractor friend and asked him to refer someone who could help me. He referred me to Brett at Stutzman & Kropf. Brett had a very busy day going on but said he could work me in as I was "on the way." When he arrived he knew exactly where to look in the attic, located the problem area and went on the roof. The leak was caused by an old and brittle gasket around an exhaust vent He didn't have one of the size needed so he told me he would get one and be back in a couple of hours and would install it without letting me know he was there. And he did just that. (I am slightly handicapped.) Brett was kind, considerate and cheerful - and didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. read more

Asked for bid to reside our manufactured home our calls were returned promptly, the bid was thorough and offered several options at different prices and products. Said the job would take four days, it took four days. Finished price was exactly what was bid. Crew was professional and very helpful. Had a problem with a section of the house being sided, brought it to the attention of Cody (Crew Leader) who immediately said "this is not right and I will personally make sure it is done correctly" which he did. Just had them replace a shake roof with composite shingles. This required a complete removal, installation of plywood, and then installing the shingles. They did the complete job in a day and a half, and the new roof is absolutely beautiful. The crew was fast, efficient, friendly, conscientious, and, above all, eminently competent. I enjoyed having them there. Everything was cleaned up completely, and the cost was exactly as quoted. Got a TPO roof put on my flat roof home for a really Good price! Crew came in and got it done in half a day was extremely quick and done right been a few years now and no leaks. A lot of My neighbors also have flat roofs and they've experienced bad installation from other companies that they hired. I do believe they will be calling Stutzman out to repair the previous contractors work.
