I absolutely love shopping/selling to this location! The only reason why Id be upset is that they downgraded a beautiful medium sized store to a crowded tight store when they moved! Upon dropping off my clothes, i always browse around for something "new". They have great selections. If you know your brands, sometimes you can find something that isn't highly priced. Mall brands are usually super cheap! Yes, they have a lot of "plain Jane" clothing, but if you come early enough, or ask when they refresh their racks, you'll be able to find cute fun items. You can even find NWT items for cheap! Their bag selections are huge! I can easily spend an hour or more just browsing. The staff is honestly amazing, i do encounter one lady sometimes who isn't AS friendly as the others, but we are all just human you know. read more

After waiting over 45 minutes while the 4 women behind the counter sorted and worked on stuff that was sitting in bins all over the floor, I got a grand total of $7 and change for 3 never-worn pieces that cost about $100 put together. I kind of expected to get bottom dollar, but this wasn't even worth the gas to get there + my time. VERY disorganized and has the feel of a Salvation Army, no offense to the Sallie! There's no decor, no "style," and nowhere to sit if you're stuck there for 45 minutes to get your handful of change for the items you drop off! They have a text "system" that's supposed to let you know when they're ready to go over everything with you, that doesn't work. You get one text when you first leave your things, and nothing else. When I finally got sick of circling the store and stood over by the counter, my stuff had actually been priced for a while! UGH. DONATE....you'll feel better! read more

In my experience, the women who work here are pompous with nasty attitudes. I have been to this location several times while visiting the Plato's Closet and Once Upon A Child stores next door. They have always tried to shortchange me on my designer items, while the merchandise in the store is overpriced. The last time I was there, the cashier threw my Calvin Klein suit on the counter and proceeded to tell me I needed to bring it in a trash bag. LOL. After she refused to pick up my suit, I snatched it and left the store. Won't be getting my business with those dispositions. Sometimes I think they think we need those pennies for drugs. I'd rather donate my suit. Don't waste your time going in this store. read more

I have no problem with them wanting some things and not wanting others, however, I was browsing through the while they were looking through mine that I brought, and the clothes all smell and look worn. The shoes are awful and It is called style encore, but the styles for sale, were not stylish! I guess we all have our version of style, but I was shocked that they did not take half my stuff and when I looked at the stuff they have it is worn and half of it was trash. I was happy they gave me some money for my stuff, and completely understand that they only take what they want, but looking through the items, they had for sale, they were awful. The store had a strange odor, and like the other reviewers, I brought designer items that were hardly worn and some brand new and they did not take them. Just a waste of my time. I will not be returning to here or to platos closet. The clothes for sale are terrible. The children's store was ok though, cute stuff. TO each their own! Workers were friendly, and kind just do not understand what they are looking for, maybe if others go, bring some worn tee shirts and jeans and you will get money. read more

This place is a complete waste of your time and energy. They are beyond unprofessional from the time you walk in the door. Dropped off 11 huge garbage bags full of clothes, purses, shoes, etc with tags. They told me it would take 30 minutes, waited in the parking lot for over 2 hours.. Didn't receive a text like they promised; and went inside hours later to check in on how they were doing.. they then proceeded to tell me the stuff had been done, but didn't even think to text me to let me know?? They sat there talking and twiddling their fingers, as my bags went untouched. They gave me 10 bags back, and took no more than 10 items. Told me the remainder of my clothes was teen wear, which tells me they didn't even think to look through them as they were all professional wear as I am a teacher.. Would never recommend this place to anyone, as their clothes selection is bare and shabby and smells moldy as hell with holes and stain on most of the items.. This place sucks. It is absolutely terrible. Save your time and your clothes. Sell them on your own. I brought in designer brands (Max Mara) and a few other higher priced items, some even brand new with tags. They might as well give me a bag of dirt and tell me to go on my way. They give you no money for your good quality items and basically rob you blind. I walked in and stated that I had a pair of pants worth $700 and asked how much money I would get for giving those in. She gave me a terrible attitude and stated "we don't have Gucci ring up that expensive." I just wanted to know how they would price to sell. I also brought lots of nice athleisure and I got $2 for a pair of leggings that I paid $50 for less than 2 months ago. The most money I got for my high end clothing was $11 and I brought in things within the $200-$700 range. I asked for an itemized receipt of all the things they were taking and they labeled it so terribly that I had no idea what they took until I got back to my car. This place will steal all your money and smile to your face while doing it. Would not recommend. read more

I have been shopping at consignment shoppes for years. This particular platform of buying gently used clothes is appealing especially at this location. Being between sizes and finding basic peices to fill the gap in my wardrobe, it is a perfect solution. I have purchased several pricey labels like Eileen Fischer silk separates for $18.00 and the orginal tags on them. So happy and my next visit I will be bringing clothes and shoes never worn to sell. I am extremely disappointed in Style-Encore. I brought multiple designer items in, only to have them returned. I called the night before I went to ask what they were specifically looking for. They told me to bring whatever I had- even winter clothes- because they buy all year round. I brought in nice new J.Crew shorts to Ralph Lauren sweaters, they took two off my things. They returned almost everything back to me. They also told me that they were not buying dress unless they were brand new, I brought in a brand new $148 dress -with the tags on it only to have it returned. I also thought that some of the things in the store were run down and old. I just wish they were more clear with me on the phone because I wouldn't have wasted my time. It pains me to give this place even one star. read more

Having been in upmarket retail for almost 40 years; o totally understand the concept of repurposed goods. Having said that, I never insulted a client or tried to make them uncomfortable while smiling at them. I brought some items in, was told to come back in 20 minutes. I returned only to find the bag where I left it and told they want tank tops and shorts! Additionally, I was told, that one item showed wear. The bag included several pieces of LuLaRoe, which I know they sell. Also, every piece was still folded and in the exact spot in the bag. The staff, while smiley and pleasant, need work on customer service. When I asked if they would want to donate the items to Dress for Success, I was instructed to take them to a "bin" located on the property. It's tragic commentary on what's happening to our society. I did have a great experience at Boscovs and the merchandise is new and the sales clerk, professional. Moral of the story, bring your things to Dress for Success and purchase new. read more

The selection process at Style Encore has me flummoxed. I brought a large bag of clothing in, all items in either excellent condition or brand new with tags. I had called ahead and was told they were seeking fall/winter clothing, so that's what I brought. I browsed the store while my bag was rummaged through and was surprised to see brands like Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe as I was under the impression that SE was Plato's Closet's "older sister". No bother, though. The number of Coach items was staggering, and most were not in sellable condition, in my opinion. I counted 18 pairs of visibly dirty Coach sneakers, and the Coach backpack that I asked to look at had a filthy liner and bottom. It was marked $95; I wouldn't pay $0.95 for an item in that condition. Watching the selection process was interesting. A bag's contents were dumped on the counter and a girl no more than 18 would simply pick up a folded item (without unfolding it to see brand, size, or condition) and either throw it back into the bag it came from or onto the counter next to her. Shouldn't one actually look at an item before deciding? It's no wonder I was only quoted a 20-minute wait when there were at least a dozen people ahead of me. Items of mine that they passed on included two pairs of Nike sneakers brand new in their respective boxes, a brand new with tags Lacoste jacket and A&F pea coat, two pairs of Calvin Klein bootcut jeans with tags, a $350 wool cardigan from Ireland, and numerous cardigans. The brands that I had brought in were GAP, The Limited, Loft, Lacoste, Calvin Klein, A&F, Dress Barn, White House Black Market, Lands End, Eddie Bauer, C.Wonder, Coach; the sales associate mentioned that I had "a lot of teen brands". What an odd statement considering the amount of Forever 21 on offer. Perhaps A&F leans towards teens, but the rest certainly do not. In the future, I'll be skipping this store. There was a nice selection of decent items, but the prices were certainly too high for a second-hand store. It also appears that they'll take any designer brand items regardless of condition. read more

For used clothes they are pretty pricy better off buying them new not from here just pointless.

I would say a little over price for second hand. If it was in New York City it would make sense but not in the little town of Scranton. I will stick to shopping at Salvation Army or goodwill for second hand clothes. read more

Let me save you the trip. This place is horrendous. The prices are out of this world for the conditions of the purses and clothing. A kate spade bag with pen stains and a scratched medallion $75. I could get a brand new one at TJ Max for that price. The staff acts as if they are working in a high end boutique, the attitudes were not appreciated. This places sucks. read more

What a waste of my time! I couldn't believe that they rejected almost all of the items that I took to them. Many of the things had original price tags on them. Although the styles WERE current, the intake person told me that this or that probably wouldn't sell in their store. The styles were current, but I chose not to disagree with the personality challenged clerk. I did look around and found many items that I personally would have donated to charity, e.g., faded RL polo shirts, some shoes that never should have been accepted (out of style, well worn, etc.), and plenty of items that were NOT designer brands. This store is loaded with stuff, which is priced a lot higher than it should be. After all, it is second hand! If this store is in business by the end of the year, I'll be surprised! read more

I don't often write reviews, but could not refrain from writing one in regard to my experience today at Dickson City's Style Encore. I brought in a very large bag containing over 70 items, all brand name (Loft, Gap, Express, True Religion, The Limited, C&C, Lacoste) and over 75% of the items still had their original tags attached. Style Ecore decided to purchase 15 pieces, most of which did not have tags attached, for a whopping $51.86. Confused, I questioned the sales associate as to why so many items were passed over. "They show signs of wear"... please explain that to me as the original price tags were still attached. She had no answer. "They're out of season right now" ... I was unaware that full length and 3/4 sleeved sweaters and sweatshirts were out of season during the fall and winter. And those short sleeved blouses are called layering pieces, as in meant to be worn under those out of season sweaters. "We don't recognize the brand" ... who doesn't recognize True Religion and C&C? If you're thinking of selling your clothing here, I would advise you to sell on local Facebook groups instead or donate for a tax write-off. Style Encore is a rip-off. read more

If you're planning on selling to them don't take too much time cleaning out your closet cause they hardly buy anything. I brought in eight bins of clothes, shoes, purses, & jewelry and they only bought like 20 items. I had over 200 great items! Northface, Jones NY, White House Black Market, Calvin Klein, etc. Some with tags still on and everything like new. Some of the bins I could tell they didn't even bother to go through. My thoughts.......pure laziness.....they have to enter in a computer each piece they purchase. When I questioned why they didn't consider some of my items they said they weren't current styles which was absolute bullshit. I was browsing around in the store while they were going through my bins and I couldn't help but notice how much 70's & 80's things there were and really dirty looking. They did pay me $110 for 20 items which was pretty good but still they chose things like a pair of walmart ballerina shoes over a pair of Guess flats that they probably didn't even know were there cause they didn't bother to look. read more

My first 2 visit's to Style/Encore Dickson City were a very good experience. When I decided in May to sell them quality used clothes, purse's and wallets, they paid me 127.49. I thought it was fair, until i got home, i felt robbed. I continued going in there amazed to see my items 3 to 4 times what they gave me for them, prices 4x of what they gave me. well it wasn't enough, I brought in 4 dooney & Bourke purses, barely used, 1 Nine West, & 1 Tommy Hilfinger. They offered me 104.90, again I couldnt believe they robbed me of 4 dooney purse's, only 13.00 for each. I called them and I told Liz, why so unbelievable cheap what they gave me. I got even more depressed see purse's sell on floor 60.00 - 75.00. I bought 2 back paid 110.00 plus tax, i was going to buy the other 2, my family said are you crazy. I have so happy to have at least 2, I had to be crazy to buy or sell anything to this place. It is prime time right now to get true bargains for all top designer's including dooney. I just bought a dooney Penn state tote bag for 70.00 plus tax brand new & authentication papers inside. Another great dooney purse ordered for 74.00 and 109.00 brand new retail price on each 248.00 each. So everyone right now, prime season for great buys, buy new not used. I will never go into style/Encore I will tell all my friend's, acquaintance's, of course family will never go in any of their location's period..... read more

When Encore first opened, I started selling clothes there and thought their prices were fair. However, within the past year or so they have started offering ridiculously low prices for sellers. Designer (Hudson, Joe's) jeans, with tags, are offered less than $10. These jeans had tags and were MSRP $189 or more. Kate Spade shoes, MSRP $328, excellent condition, I was offered $8.95. Also, some of the clothes I was selling they listed wrong (i.e., they listed True Religions as Lucky...not even close! Good thing I looked at the breakdown!) I actually laughed. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! Join Poshmark, Tradesy or EBay and get what your clothes are worth! read more

My first impression of the store was that it smelled of mothballs, but perhaps this was just a temporary issue. You fill out a short application and they place your items in a numbered bin. I was asked to look around and shop in the store as I had several people's bins ahead of mine to be reviewed. As I browsed a mother and daughter came in with their items and their bin was placed behind mine (It also was apparent that the sales associate was a friend of these two). After about twenty minutes, the bin in front of was completed and as I walked toward the counter I heard the associate say to the mother/ daughter in loud whisper that she had moved them up ahead of me. I was stunned to say the least but I thought this is my first time here so lets see what happens. They were very chatty and sales associate looked up their items in the computer to offer a price and ASKED if the price was ok. If not, then they negotiated another price, which of course was higher. When my turn finally came and the associate selected some items to purchase, she offered prices which for my designer like new items seemed quite low. I said to her the that I thought the prices offered were quite low to which she explained that she had NO CONTROL over the prices and had to offer what was in the computer. Really!! I just had heard her negotiate prices with another customer!! Not only is she a liar but an imbecile. If you are going to be unfair to some customers, at least keep your voice down. How unprofessional and disappointing, I certainly would not return. read more
