I would not recommend using this company. I placed a deposit with the owner for materials to recover cushions in April. I called every month for 3 months and nobody responded to my calls. I reviewed the other complaints online and they were awful!! I denied charges on my credit card. Thankful I could get my money back through my bank. It was actually completed a few years ago, but I figured it worth a review when I saw their business name pop up. I went to Style Trend on Room and Board's recommendation- I brought a dining room chair to Jerry and a day later I decided to wait until my floors are redone. I gave Jerry a $320 deposit and asked him kindly for a refund since he did not order any fabric and I changed my mind. Well, 3 months later after going down to file a small claims action, calling weekly, contacting my attorney and calling Room and Board I received my deposit back. My suggestion is put your charges own a credit card so you can dispute the charges if there is an issue. My mistake was writing a check so I had no recourse until he decided to refund my money. I would not recommend this business after going through hell to get my deposit back. His business is a mess, there is paperwork all over the place, his record keeping is atrocious and the place is a mess. I did not have a good feeling when I went there and I should have listened to my gut. Sorry this happened!!!! read more

Our living room had a built in bench that was upholstered with ugly Berber carpet. When my wife and I bought new furniture for our living room, we decided it was time to reupholster that ugly bench to match the decor of the room. After looking around for an upholsterer, we decided to go with Style Trend in Lakewood. The owner, Jerry, came to our house and measured our bench. He also brought several books with fabric samples. One book happened to have a fabric with a contemporary pattern that matched our new furniture perfectly. We also picked out a dense foam to make the bench more comfortable to sit on. About a week and a half later, Jerry delivered and installed our newly reupholstered bench. It looks great in our living room and it is now very comfortable to sit on! My wife and I have been getting a lot of compliments on our bench. We would definitely use Style Trend Upholstery again. Their price was competitive with other stores in the area, and their service was convenient and faster then we expected. read more

Bottom line- the service was slow and overpriced, the quality poor considering the amount of time spent and the communication was nothing short of rude. Save yourself the poor treatment and take your furniture to another shop. The details - I had the most horrible experience dealing with Style Trend Upholstery. Not only will I never being doing business with them again, for the first time I feel the need to notify others of the horrible service I received there and discourage any business for them. My aunt offered to have a chair reupholstered for me as a housewarming gift. I dropped off the chair on 9/24/2013 and went back early the next week to communicate my fabric choice. At this time I also communicated that I would like the chair's wooden legs refinished. I was notified that it could take 3 weeks to finish the chair because they'd have to send the legs to another shop to get refinished. Great, call me when it is done. Over a month goes by and I hear nothing, I call back and they haven't even started on the chair, but the fabric was ordered. Another month goes by and I call again, they had to send the fabric back due to a flaw and expected to have the fabric in by the end of the year. In all this time, Style Trend never called me to update me on the status on the chair, nor did they return my messages. I only got to speak to someone if I called during their limited business hours and someone happened to pick up. At the end of January, I received a call that the chair was done and the credit card on file was charged. I sent someone else to pick it up, as I was 9 months pregnant and had the stomach flu, but wanted to have it for an upcoming gathering at my house since it wasn't completed in time for my housewarming. Jerry was rude to the person I sent to pick it up when she questioned the quality of the work done and when she commented on the fact that when she walked in the chair was covered with the old remnants of another job they were working on. When I called to address the issue Jerry was rude to me and even said that the person I had sent was never welcome back. The chair was left at the shop because of the poor work - scrapes on the refinished legs and the bottom of the chair was not sufficiently finished. I then left five voice messages over the next week and a half to Jerry checking to see if I should go look at the chair or if they were taking care of the problems before I received a call back him. And when I did get a call back, again, Jerry was very rude. I took my husband with me to pick up the chair because Jerry had been so hostile in his communication with me. I let Jerry know I was coming to pick up the chair and he made a point to not be at the store during that time. I will say, the two gentlemen that were there were polite and even helped to load the chair into our vehicle. It seems to me the trouble with Style Trends is Jerry. Four and a half months after dropping off the chair, I am glad to be done with the project and thrilled to say I will never be dealing with Style Trends again. read more

I usually don't write reviews but when I do, I always see what other people have said to fill in any gaps or point out something specific that I hope other people will find valuable. Hopefully this review helps you out. I'm not sure what happened with the customer that wrote the negative review about Jerry being rude and not communicating. We had the polar opposite experience; Jerry was great and his guys that reupholstered our large couch and two roller chairs were done marvelously. Jerry was very accommodating, meeting us in the late afternoon to initially see the furniture we wanted done and to provide an estimate. We then met him at his shop on the weekend to see fabric samples. We were going to make sure we brought our fabric options home to make sure they worked and it was something Jerry insisted we do. We had found something we really liked but unfortunately the supplier did not have enough fabric for our job and the pattern had been discontinued (not Jerry or Style Trends fault). After much searching at other fabric stores with no luck, Jerry called to see how we were doing and thought he had stumbled across a pattern we might like. He was right, he had found the pattern that was going to work. Once all the fabric arrived at his shop (just a few days), he picked up the furniture and one short week later we had it back in our place. We have had upholstery work done in the past so we basically knew what to expect, but Jerry didn't assume anything and made sure every step and detail was attended to, right down to asking if some of the chair's original hardware should be kept, something we hadn't even thought of! What was done: Large cushioned couch with perfect pattern alignment across all cushions. Two leather roller chairs with folded fabric pattern, support strapping, and buckle details. When was it done: A few months ago. Quality of work: Excellent. Did I mention how well the patterned cushions look? How did we originally hear about Style Trend? An interior designer we met recommended him (we did not hire the interior designer) If you have well built furniture that just has worn fabric or leather and you hate the thought of junking it, I encourage you to call or see Jerry at Style Trend. read more
