Storefront in middle of mall- upper floor

Ooooohhhhhhh, aaaahhhhhhhhhh~ I love this store~ funky, playful, pinup style pleasures. And a good helping of punk-rock! I have only bought a couple items from here over the years- prices reflect just how hard it is to find this particular style anymore! I managed to snag a blackwatch tartan skirt from here last year! Good Irish tartan- the one my hubby wore at our wedding- he kilt it! lol sorry- anyway, the store! Always greeted right away and offered help upon entering (every single time I have been in this store- even when they were slammed at the holidays). Staff always is dressed to the nines- in attire that matches the store! Beyond the pinup skirts, dresses, shirts- they have a great selection of corsets, jewelry that is funky~ steampunk, gothic, playful & OMG~ the shoes! Kickass boots, crazy heels I could never wear and 50's style pumps for the less graceful in heels types like myself! I have my eye on the cherry skirt~ maybe next week! This store helps bring those visual fantasies of older style dress paired with a playful print to life! I swear this store is selling confidence with every outfit~ because you simply strut when you are dressed up like this! Work it girlfriend!

Alright. So. I have very mixed feelings about subculture. They've changed a LOT since they first started selling clothes at the avenues mall in FL (Idek if their store still exists there anymore)- At first it was amazing and the prices were somewhat expensive but worth it, yknow? But now, their prices have increased for absolutely no reason and their quality has gotten worse. They had so many cute and intricate items but they seem to be slowly turning into more of a semi-alternative bridal/dress shop and have gotten tackier??? In the beginning there were so many cute outfits for people, like me, who dress extra almost every day- lots of pinup, rave/stripper (which, from what it looks like, they've completely gotten rid of :/), gothic, and lolita clothes etc etc, along with a vast selection of demonias and pleasers + more (and that's not including the corsets). I mean like WALLS filled to the brim with this stuff and a very wide variety. But their selection has cut down so so much since then. The only consistent, redeeming quality they had was their wonderful employees who were always extremely sweet and were excited to help you out. The best hypemen out there lmao. It's a shame they've taken so many clothing options and a lot of originality away, pretty upsetting. I'll add some photos of the old clothes they had that I've purchased so you can compare them to the online shop.

Corset and Necklace I got from Subculture Corsets. Was for Harry Potter Event. (I was dressed as Bellatrix LaStrange.

Lately, I've getting into vintage style clothing as well as been a long time corset fan and SC is the best for both! They have an amazing selection of stuff (wish I could afford to buy almost everything!) In my opinion, the best part of SC is people that work there. I went in there last week for a last minute pieces for my costume for the Harry Potter book release (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) and was looking for a corset (in my budget) and the sales gals helped me find one I could afford on the sales rack. Also, I had a very specific necklace I needed and had looked all over town for it and thought I was doomed, but one of the girls took the time to search the back and somehow magically produced it! I can not say enough about how great their service is..Literally, every girl working in the store assisted me in someway or engaged me in conversation. I'm not so great at names, so I had one of them write them down for me so I could do this review. So.. Thank you Simone, Ashley, Johanna, and Britney for all your help!

I had to get my brides maid dress from here, the staff were so kind, helpful, and made sure I was happy with my dress.

I do love this store. It's small and cramped and they've got a ton of stuff packed into a tiny…read morearea. But the employees are so helpful and nice and they know their stock, so if you can't find something - just ask. They do carry a little bit of everything here, from t-shirts and jeans, to dresses and undergarments, to accessories, etc. I shop Torrid a lot online but once I had to return something and the ladies here were super helpful about assisting me with that. One thing I adore is that Torrid has the old fashioned dressing room policy I don't see many other places with the ladies actually helping you out. Such a bonus when shopping alone. They will go and bring you other sizes, etc., so you don't have to keep dressing and running back out and in again.

They have plus-sized clothing here. Yay! I primarily wear skirts, so that's what I will pop in…read morehere for every now and then. Sometimes when I come in they have a few cute skirts at good prices. Other times, they won't have a single skirt in the store. But, ya know, it never hurts to look because I never know what i'll find. The store is clean, but things could definitely be more organized. The clothes are on racks all nice and neat, but things are here and there. There's just not much organization. The good news is the employees are friendly and helpful. Luckily, they also know the method to the madness. I tell them I am looking for skirts and they can tell me if they have any or not. If they do, they can also take me directly to them. The racks are also really close together. This is not a good thing because it makes it not so handicapped accessible. If you're in a wheelchair or use a walker, then you're going to have to ask the employees to start moving clothing racks just so you can move around the store. 3 stars because this store is truly just "A-OK." Nothing more, nothing less.

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Uptown Cheapskate. I came in hoping to…read moreresolve an issue involving a bag that was donated without my consent, and instead I encountered one of the most unprofessional and unpleasant interactions I've ever had with store management. The manager on duty, Leslie De La Cruz, was shockingly rude, dismissive, and made absolutely no effort to understand or address my situation. The bag in question wasn't just any item it was a meaningful gift from a cherished friend, and it was donated without my approval. I approached the store calmly, simply looking for a reasonable resolution. Instead of listening or offering even a hint of assistance, Leslie repeatedly shut me down, showed no empathy for my discomfort, and acted as if my concerns were an inconvenience. All I asked for was a basic form of compensation, such as a refund or a gift card equal to the value of the donated bag. This was a fair and respectful request given the circumstances, yet the manager chose to offer nothing not even a sincere apology. This experience has left me extremely dissatisfied, not only because of the loss of a sentimental item, but because of the unacceptable treatment I received from someone who is supposed to represent the store's values. Customers deserve respect, understanding, and professionalism, none of which were shown to me during this interaction. I truly hope Uptown Cheapskate addresses this issue, because no one should have to go through what I did just to seek a simple and reasonable resolution.
