Krista Clever is the doctor for you if you're hoping to make your life more difficult, get zero resolutions and have more issues after leaving than you did coming in. I went to her office to discuss different medication options and treatment for my tween after she was ALREADY evaluated for suicide following suicidal ideations stemming from a new SSRI. We were actively taking steps for treatment and have a team of mental health professionals guiding us. She spent less than 10 minutes with my daughter, then immediately demanded she be admitted to a private mental health hospital, for a 7 day lock-in and no contact with her loved ones. Or I could take her to ECMC (to be placed with mentally unstable 12-18 year olds of all genders), if I didn't want to pay an exorbitant amount of money for an unnecessary stay at a private facility. I found it fascinating that Krista felt like she had more insight into my daughter, in such a small time frame, than the team of professionals who evaluated and cleared her days prior. Those professionals worked closely with the guidance team at her school (who have been involved with her mental health for 2 years already), spent over an hour speaking with my daughter and were incredibly thorough. I valued their opinion more than this woman who barely spent any time with my child, and she did not have any insight from those who have already been working with my tween. I did not even make an appointment for this reason, we just wanted some assistance with medication. Immediately I contacted other services to have her reevaluated and SURPRISE! Not a single person agreed with her hasty, incomplete and wreckless recommendation. Krista chose an extreme response that would have inflicted more trauma and issues on my child than would have solved- and she did so with minimal information. The next day she called me and threatened to call an ambulance and take my child by force if I didn't follow her recommendation and was so angry when I told her my daughter was immediately reevaluated and cleared. She then contacted the office who gave me a second opinion, deeming hers inadequate, to scold them for not following her orders. But they had already been working with my daughter and had more insight than Krista. Overall, we had three evaluations for suicide risk, all by qualified mental health professionals, Krista was the only one who made such an irresponsible decision, and it was the least thorough and quickest assessment yet. I am so thankful for Spectrum Services, who offered me legal counsel when she threatened to take my child forcefully, despite having been immediately reevaluated leaving her office. It seems Krista has a problem being wrong, she kept saying "i know what I'm doing, this is my job". Well, it is also the job of the other mental health professionals who cleared my daughter and actually took the time to know her and assess her entire situation. It is honestly alarming that this woman works in medicine and has the power to make life-altering decisions on someone's behalf with little to no information. Stay far away. read more

I was very hesitant to continue my search for a psychiatrist since my last place basically said out of nowhere that he was losing his DEA license and could no longer give me the medications that work for me. I called spa hoping to see a certain doctor but they explained that she wasn't taking new patients but I could see a psychiatric np . Again I was unsure what to expect but I'm so glad I got to speak with Taylor Simon. I felt incredibly comfortable talking to her like she was actually listening and treating me as if I'm a human being and not just another patient. She also made some awesome recommendations for therapists in the area. I walked out of her office feeling incredibly relieved! So glad I found her. read more

if I could give zero stars I would, I was a patient there for a while seeking treatment for my OCD, and ADHD. and they never failed to find some way to make it harder for me to get the treatment I need. they will waste your time and blame you for it guaranteed. ALL THIS PLACE CARES ABOUT IS MONEY.. they are a prime example of failure in the mental health system. I worked with therapist Amy Zaparal for years and was dropped due to "not making a follow up appointment" to pay for her fake hair extensions. I received NO warning and NO letter that any of this was happening. Yet she follows my facebook to the point I had to block her and uses her personal number to text me. They have you trust someone and then drop you if you can't afford to go every week. Any time you need a medication refill they have no idea how to fill things on time and flat out medically neglect you.. The receptionists are so rude and treat everyone like they are unstable and talk down to you as if they are superior for being secretaries. No matter what time you get there they are always behind. And good luck calling and getting an answer. I have nothing positive to say about this place. I am also a mental health provider and this would never happen where I work. I also asked for information to report my previous therapist and they protect each other and try to brush things under the rug. Got "diagnosed" with ADHD by the most adhd man I've ever met. Office was a mess, staff was rude, everyone e inside that building is unhappy. Every time I visited people had to leave after waiting too long for their doctors. Doctor said they would follow up, which only happened when they tried to receive payment. I'll never forget what he told me "I will follow up in a week or two. It's the least I can do as a professional courtesy". Office was also supposed to call to set up future appointment after paperwork was done...never happened. If I could give this place a 0 I would. read more

Good luck if you ever run out of medication for any reason or need help with medication in an emergency. I wouldn't recommend them due to poor office management / receptionist and customer service training especially during a crisis. terrible service all around, you will never be called in for your appointment on time, I have shown up at open multiple times as the first appointment of the day and still been held late. I have called to refill my medicine and they forgot to send my script to the pharmacy, leaving me without them for over a week. I was dropped by one counselor, Monica Reeves, because I had missed one appointment in the middle of finals week, do not have her as a counselor. many patients have expressed this sentiment yet have no choice but to continue using this place as a provider. avoid at ALL COSTS. read more

After being turned away from so many places to help our 9 yr old adopted daughter who suffered years of trauma from her bio parents we finally found Dr Martin. His office was booked up for a few months but after talking to the receptionist about how unbalanced my daughter is and the issues we were having they called me back the next morning with an available appointment in 3 days. At our appointment Dr. Martin was so kind and engaging with our daughter and us as her parents. He listened to everything we all said. He explained everything to us and what our short term and long term plans will be for our daughter's mental health. I can't thank Dr. Martin enough for helping us. Plus, his receptionist Katie who took the time to listen and see what she could do to move up our daughter's appointment. read more

Staff is rude. Staff, doctors and parents made me think I was sicker than I was for 18 years. Gave me more medication when the first one made me suicidal. To help with the thoughts Doctor Martin ended up putting me on Anti-psychotics which even pushed me further. I am so glad I am here today. I found out I was autistic and stopped all medication. Life has been great without medication and I'm not "ill" anymore. read more

My Psychiatrist is excellent, but he went on vacation. covering MD decided I could not receive my controlled medication until two weeks after I ran out. This will be very harmful. Receptionist stated covering MD said I had to wait. Told her to look at My medication record on the portal. Stated she did but it stated I had to wait. When I called back, she stated the pharmacist agreed I had to wait. Called my Pharmacist. She received no call from office. She is now calling office. I do not feel a psychiatric patient should be stressed like this. She also accused me of taking more than prescribed. Will advise my doc to find new receptionist or leave practice. read more

The level of incompetence at this office is ridiculous! I've been a patient here for years and EVERY month I call asking them to refill one month of my scripts because that's all my insurance will cover at a time and they also call in 3 so Walgreens delays my script until I call and change it and go through a whole process. They also sent my account to collections even though they told me to ignore the bills they sent me. Then after I paid in full they closed my account again a month later. The doctors don't seem like they care about the patients. OVERALL THE LEVEL OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IS REPREHENSIBLE!! read more

0 stars. This place is a joke and they only care about money, they will drop you without 2nd thought. Receptionists arent any better, its as if no one in this place has been trained to deal with people in any sort of distress. a patient should not have to wait 2 weeks and make 4 calls to get a response back, to only then be told we wi just discuss it next appointment. I called and talked to Jennifer, the incompetent "office manager", and they will tell you that she's top dog and she answers to no one, well you can look up who actually owns it, a doctor that works there, but apparently doesn't want to deal with any issues that arise. I told Jennifer what happened and all she could say is that I should find a new provider and she will make sure to let my provider there know how unhappy I am with her service. I received a call a little later and they told me they canceled my appointment for that day and to find somewhere else to go. At no point did my therapist call to check to see what was happening, I called 3 times in 1 morning, you'd think that should be alarming to a mental health place but it wasn't giving them money so they don't care. i was told by my MENTAL HEALTH providers, good luck. So if you want to literally beg for help and then not get any this is the place for you! they also only follow HIPPA when it works for them but will violate it to make the patient seem in the wrong. Absolute worst place and they should be ashamed to claim they are mental health facility. I called this office inquiring about services for one of my 83-year-old clients. The person answering the phone was rude and dismissive to begin with, but when I told her my client had Medicaid, she LITERALLY SCOFFED. Office staff are the face of the business, and it's inhumane to treat vulnerable populations this way. I'm glad I was the one on the phone and not my client because it would've sent her into a shame spiral. This is entirely unacceptable. This is a great place to either get help from a psychiatrist or therapist. The staff here are quick, friendly, and efficient. They've always treated me with my respect and concern if they ask how I'm doing and I answer honestly. I usually don't have to sit down and wait for my appointments either, which is great. Because I'm not in a giant waiting room surrounded by strangers, I have less anxiety by the time I get to see my psychiatrist, Dr. Phillips. Her care has meant a lot to me. She still gives me helpful suggestions even though the crux of our appointments involve us trying to figure out my medications. But such is a psychiatrist's goal...unless something has gone seriously wrong. Then she first and foremost tries to ascertain what is going on, then how you got that way, then how she can help. I recommend her. I have seen other professionals at SPA before too, but I have yet to find a therapist I mesh well with. This is not exclusive to SPA of course, but the one chronic pain therapy specialist they recommended for me did not fit in well with my goals. She actually made me feel a little bit worse, which was disheartening. All in all though, everyone here does genuinely care and the office is run well. Worst place ever. Good luck trying to talk to your doctor. You are just another number to them. Not sure of the rules with healthcare but they were rude and nasty when I asked for some clarification. I asked to speak to my doctor and the answer Liz gave me was "she's too busy to talk to you." I asked if she could call me when she's free with the response of "I can try but she is too busy to call you because she has more important things to do." Do not waste your time. They don't fill scripts, call back or give you the time of day. Saying that, my doctor here has been very nice. I just never have a chance to talk to her! Front desk won't allow it!!! They cut you off and don't let you express what you are in need of. I have since then called my primary to send me somewhere else. These people are the complete opposite of compassionate and caring, they are exactly the type of people who should not be working in this field. I have had multiple issues reaching my doctor, getting my prescription, regarding my insurance, and making appointments. If for some reason you aren't able to get in contact with your doctor nobody contacts you to make sure everything's alright. I am very disappointed in my experience so far. I have been a patient here for several months now. I also see a therapist who has sent paperwork over to their office 3 times. ALL 3 times they lost it or did not receive it. I then took the paperwork in by hand to ensure the excuse of not receiving the paperwork or losing it could not hold up, and it was deemed unacceptable due to an edit the therapist made to the diagnosis sheet. They claim they called my therapist to resend it, who confirmed he made the edit. I have now been waiting 3 months to receive treatment as a result of all this. At this point in time, I have this sinking sensation that nobody involved in my care actually cares about treating me. If the 2 medical professionals spoke to each other about my care, I am unaware of why my treatment can not begin as it has been delayed so long. I tried to call and as usual the receptionist was rude to me...don't expect to be treated with any level of compassion...that word holds no meaning at Suburban Psychiatric. I have now given up on all of this. I can not keep chasing down 2 different agencies for months on end to get basic treatment for a basic diagnosis. It is my firm belief that these people only care about what insurance you have so that they can collect that money. There is clearly no priority for compassionate care whatsoever and despite showing up in person and several phone calls I have not once received a call from my actual medical professional...the receptionist guards the gates well and becomes rude every time you express any level of discomfort. I will not be continuing my care with this company and would advise you to also find another company with better business and moral treatment standards of practice. I've been going here since I was 17-18. I'm 19 now. Seeing dr Krista clever. Dr Krista clever is very nice, but she told me to go cold turkey off my meds when I said I wanted to get off them and I called her office multiple times telling them I'm having dangerous thoughts and sick as a dog. The secretary tells me that it's normal to feel that way. Why would you tell someone with depression to go off their meds cold turkey and know it would give them suicidal thoughts. I don't get that at all. You don't get to communicate with ur doctor unless you have an appointment. Secretary sends an email to ur dr and calls you back to read you response. I had to have a rite aid pharmacist call this office to tell them to prescribe me a lower dose of the med I was on so I can ween off, which the office kept telling me didn't exist and that rite aid was lying to me. They then send a prescription to rite aid for me, and never called me back to tell me it was there after I called 4 times within the past 2 day's because I'm insanely sick. I told them I hadn't eaten in 5 days and wanted to off myself and they kept telling me that it's normal. I have never been to such an unprofessional place and I'm taking my business somewhere else. I have never heard a doctor tell their patient to just stop taking their meds cold turkey. Extremely not safe. I called them a Wednesday telling them this, and the soonest I could talk to my doctor was Monday. What if I was dead by then due to ur advice of going off my meds cold turkey. I paid my counselor 165.00 in copays that they never told me I had that they were SPOSE to send to my 2nd ins comp to pay instead they gave me a 30day notice to find another dr when I'm in the middle of a lawsuit and she's my therapist on record she DIDENT care or care that IV been on my meds for over 20yrs she just let me go after paying her the 165.00 and kept the money and still refuesed to see me I'm about to have a breakdown because I thought my therapist and me had. The counseling was supposed to help our daughter who needed an outlet to talk to someone else other than her "parents" so we thought this might help. Nope! Counselor made the appointments all about the ex-wife and my husband and not our daughter. Even accused my husband of lying even after couselor was shown that she was wrong. No apology either!!! I've seen several of the doctors at SPA for the past 13+ years. I used to work in mental health and it was very difficult to not only find a psychiatrist that previous clientele weren't also patients of, but also someone that accepts my insurance. Dr Andrew Reichert is my all time favorite. He treats me like a human being, understands that I once worked in the field, doesn't talk down to me, and doesn't just throw a script at me and shuffle me out the door like many psychiatrists in the area do. He takes his time with his patients, which may lead to long wait times, but he's well worth it. If you're in need of a therapist, Dr Reichert works closely with them to find the right treatments necessary to give you the best quality of life. Even after a rough visit with my previous therapist, Dr Reichert called me just to make sure I was okay. I strongly recommend Suburban Psychiatric Associates for any or all of your mental health needs. read more

I have no trust in my daughters dr. We started seeing Dr. Clever in April. Her initial appointment was supposed to be in February after a 6 week wait and the dr cancelled, and we had to wait another 6 weeks to be seen. She started on a med that didn't work. When I called the nurse called me back to give me the name of the new med to try. Of course it was one she couldn't be on which was discussed at first appointment. Second call back another med she couldn't take! Now she is out of the office. Dr Martin covering for her and I called the office on July 22nd and said that increase in med is making her worse. Having bad thoughts and severely depressed. No call back until the 25th. Unfortunately he called while I was at work. I immediately took a break and called back. Gave them my hours. I have called and left multiple messages. It's now July 30th with no call back! They have no concern for the children they treat! read more

I've been seeing Dr. Ashton since 1992 and my opinion is favorable. You must realize that his main purpose is to dispense meds, if you need individualized counseling you will likely be seen by a psychologist. Wait times average 15-20 minutes. They recently added a kiosk style check-in, uncertain how this will play out. The waiting room is large and the receptionist will walk over to you when it is your turn, rather than yell out your name. read more

STAY AWAY!! I saw a NP for psychiatric medications and she completely did not care about me. She would ask me questions from her computer and never looked at me or even asked me basic questions such as "how are you doing?" Then, when I called called out of town unexpectedly for work, I had to cancel an appointment with her and didn't have my schedule in front of me so I couldn't immediately reschedule. I received a letter within 2 days firing me for "failure to maintain a therapeutic relationship. I was blown away. I simply could not believe how horrible this place was. read more

The office staff is exceptionally unprofessional and rude! They never inform clients that they do not accept pharmacy requests for refills by any means other than phone calls. So if your pharmacy, like mine, uses electronic requests you will not be informed by this office that they are not getting it refilled for you. My doctor just kept giving me drugs that made my conditions worse. She spent almost no time on my appointments and I feel like she didn't know anything about me even though I'd been going for over six months. In addition, the staff were horrible, and made so many problems. For example, they tried to charge me hundreds of dollars because they didn't accept my insurance, after I'd had appointments where I was told my insurance was accepted. I have seen Dr Reichert for over 20 years now. We have a very close relationship and I feel very safe with him. I trust him with my mental and physical health. He always makes time for me and can see me at a moments notice. After everything I've been through in life he's the one I can count on for any medication issues or difficulties. He spends countless hours caring for his patients and always goes the extra mile for everyone, not just me. He is very educated. Updated on everything. Respects everyone. I was going here for a month for extreme depression and anxiety. I missed two appointments because it got worse and as such, I couldn't leave the house. Instead of calling me and seeing if I was alright, or even just calling me to ask why I missed my appointment, they sent me to collections - billing me the fees for the sessions (which is understandable), in addition to a couple hundred dollars in penalties... for missing 2 appointments! I accepted this and paid it right away as I wanted to get better and I didn't feel like driving far given my anxiety (this place was nearby). SHortly after, I receive a NASTY letter saying I'm banned from going here. All for missing TWO appointments. I thought mental health professionals were supposed to be caring and supportive? Well, that's not the case here - they prey on the suffering. Go elsewhere. read more

I used to see Dr. Philips. She always seemed distant during visits, like she wasn't really paying attention. She would ask me questions over again after I had previously answered them moments before. The front desk was always rude. While making appointments they act as if I was wasting their time. I had lost my health coverage after graduating college and could not continue my visits. When I acquired a new insurance plan, they refused to see me again. The only reason they gave was that Dr. Phillips had closed my file. They had just an over all "oh well attitude" when trying to talk to them about it. I definitely have the impression that money is more important to them than their patients and to them, its just another job. read more
