Just like home What…read moreis a tourist from the US eating at a McDonald's in Spain? We were thirsty and we figured it was an easy in and out. Turned out it was not that easy after all. In the US they also have kiosks for ordering but not many customers use them, like me they head to the counter. In Europe, is seems ordering by kiosks is required, and that was the case at this McDonald's. Not that it was very difficult, but it did take the two of us a few minutes to muddle through. In addition to drinks I decided to get a Quarter Pounder with Cheese. It tasted just like home.

Pans is only half a step above McDonalds for fancy food folks, but there's only so much organic,…read morefree-range, farm-to-table, molecular foam I can handle. I did my junior year abroad in Barcelona decades ago, and Pans was my fast-food grab-and-go lunch of choice given that I didn't always have 2 hours to sit in a cafe and do the full European thing. Fast forward to today, and I had to go back just to see if the chain still existed. Sure enough... same old Pans, same old menu, same old grab-and-go. I got my "usual" pechuga de pollo sandwich and was transported back thirty years. Five unabashedly nostalgic stars for Pans.

While Spain…read moreis pretty far from Mexico and in Arizona, we know good Mexican food, the neon "Mexican Food" sign on the side of this place piqued our curiosity. It is nothing special inside and reminds me of a hole-in-the wall taco joint in a small town in AZ. I ordered a beer and two tacos and sat down to wait. The food arrived pretty quickly and it was surprisingly good. I had the Pirate and Pibil tacos. (note that these are "street taco" size and not "American size") I have no complaints about it: the price was reasonable, it was served quickly and it had great flavor.

We checked in with the host & waited outside on the sidewalk for a table to become available. The staff were all very friendly & explained in English how to order. We ordered a Classic Burger & a Caesar Salad with Chicken & both were delicious. The burger was juicy & the salad was large & yummy. These were just a little different that what you 'd get in the U.S. but not by much. I can see why La Central is so popular. Great food, great service...I highly recommend!

Not the caramel- the chocolate one. I didn't try that. But the chocolate cheesecake was absolutely amazing. La Cehtral has a wonderful hip vibe to it, the people coming in are always happy, and they seem to leave very satisfied. Nicki, our waitress, doesn't serve in a pure function as a waitress because you order and pay online, or your order with golf pencils and a Spanish or English menu. But I would recommend you use the QR code, because it gives you a few more options, like cooking the burger medium or well, and things like adding an egg are included online. I don't know if you have the ability to use the picture I posted here of the QR code, but that would allow you to look at the menu and see the current prices. But be careful not to order unless you're sitting in the restaurant - understand that the QR code is keyed to that wood block, which in this case has the number three on it and that's what she uses to deliver the food to your table.
