They do a wide range of hot and cold sandwiches along with main dishes but my favourite is the salad bowls. They have around 7/8 options that change each say and you choose a size of bowl then the salads you want. Its not just your basic salad options either, they do imaginative dishes. My favourite salad is the sausage pasta with tomato sauce. There is additional seating towards the back so don't worry if it looks full just walk past the counter and check. The owners are so friendly, they always recognise me and ask how I am. The cook a lot of family recipes and tell me the history of the dishes while I wait. There is also a great selection of biscuits, jams and breads in the deli section at the front. They also sell my favourite drink - orange San Pellegrino.

This wonderful shop is set in a shopping precinct on a main road, but it has a car park! You can't miss it since its logo is bright pink and black. As soon as me and my papa walked in we were super lovely greeted by big smiles from the staff. The selection of cakes is fab, but they specialise in celebration cakes including big extravaganzabonanza wedding cakes (visit the shop in Wilmslow for the best display). The cakes we so tempting I just asked the lady to put me a box together of her favourites and I couldn't wait to get home and open it to see what I had been given. Turns out it was a florentine (my all time fav, and my oh my it was good!), a custard filled lemon bun (wow), a caramel shortcake and a chocolate muffin with chocolate frosting and marshmallows! All were super tasty and I feel really pleased with the lady's choice. We didn't buy any bread from here today but the owner kindly let us sample the hot cross buns which the bakery boasts are the best in the area. I don't think she's got a challenge on her hands (unless she crosses the ringroad) they were really really good and soft and fresh and amazing. A great real bakery, where FRESH goodies are available at great prices with great service!

Whether I'm missing a few side streets I'm not too sure but most of the town centre seems to be filled with identikit chains and all the usual brands you'd get on any high street. Venturing a little further off the main drag, I spotted Rise with their board saying "best coffee in Wilmslow" so thought why not pop in and see if they're on the money with this! A nice little coffee shop with 2 friendly guys working, they seem to do a number of food options with me seeing everything from soups, sandwiches and beans on toast on other patrons plates around me. I ordered my customary Flat White and having picked up on the 'Aussie' voice of the barista I thought I was on to a winner. What arrived for £2.50 was a bowl of coffee - pretty much a latte which although wasn't too bad was about 4 times too big to be a flat white. They may serve the best coffee in Wilmslow...but all I could taste was the milk. When leaving urban centres there always does seem to be a drop in levels of knowledge or a bastardisation of a recipe to suit local needs and unfortunately the flat white seems to suffer from this... I should have gone for an espresso or macchiato instead... A nice little place, pop in if you're after a chilled out place for lunch.

They're easy going and there's good wifi, so it's a great place to perch up for the afternoon and check your emails. At the weekends he has local live musicians playing which is a little bit different to the other things on offer in Wilmslow at the weekend. They also have monthly art exhibitions at the back of the venue! And it's a great pit-stop at the busy artisan markets every month. Again, dog friendly. So it's a winner in my book! James loves dogs too, always gives them a fuss and he has treats on the counter ready in exchange of a belly rub (of the dog of course...)

Knowing it is hard to get children to eat (as I do) they have also come up with the fantastic idea of letting little ones help make their own pizza! even better still, they have a licence, so you can (if you want) have a nice glass of wine with your sandwich! Then there are places that you go to of a night out for some scran because you just bloody love the place. Harun's is one such place. Despite recently painting the shop a rancid orange colour, Harun's remains the best takeaway in Southport for you to greedily stuff your mouth with greasy goodness in the early hours of the morning. The food there is well made and delicious albeit not particularly cheap (damn you Southport) and the staff there are friendly and will happily talk with you for hours about good Turkish footballers (believe me; it happens every week when we go). They also have a punching machine in there (perhaps to curb the violent enthusiasm of the Southport residents) which causes much hilarity at three in the morning when my mates decide to show each other who can hit something the hardest.
