I'm parked across the street doing my reset, and this is one of my favorite truck stops when I'm…read moregoing to Laredo, so I decided to walk across and have supper last night.. They also have truck parking next to the restaurant that not a lot of people realize. I walked in and was greeted immediately by very nice and professional staff. But of course if you know me, you know I chose to sit at the bar. They were playing some soccer game on the TV. I don't watch sports so doesn't matter to me what's on the TV. My bartender greeted me IMMEDIATELY and took my drink order, and gave me a menu. This guy was on his game! Very attentive, engaged in banter. Couldn't be happier with my bar experience all together. I'm on a no-carb kick, so It can be challenging sometimes to find carb-free options at Mexican restaurants, since all the good stuff and fun stuff to eat like tortillas, rice, beans, and other fried dishes are plentiful. But I noticed they had a Molcajete! (For those don't know what that is, it's essentially a bowl carved out of volcano rock, and then heated up with various meats and other ingredients, served SUPER HOT). My molcajete came with pretty good size shrimp, beef, chicken, couple slices of mozzarella type cheese, pico and other stuff in the bottom. The bartender asked me if I wanted to substitute my rice and beans for avocado and pico, which I did. I ate my avocado and put the pico into my molcajete. I am a faithful consumer of tajin, and tapatio. BUT They didn't have tap! They only have Cholula. The bartender told me he keeps requesting it, but never gets it, so cholulah it was. My molcajete was super hot, boiling like it should be, really flavorful. All together really good. I did notice The Rock wasn't as deep as other Mexican restaurants I've been to that served it, and didn't have a couple other little things in it that other Mexican restaurants too, but it was still good nonetheless and a perfect portion size for me. I didn't realize they close at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday because I planned on having supper there again tonight, so I will be stopping in the next time I come down to this part of Texas! Thank you Taqueria Jalisco! Maybe next time I'll have a cheat day and eat something carby! I know it will be worth it! ***DISCLAIMER*** This pure, uncut, honest review is federally protected under Federal Law by way of Bill #EO14149. Mine was the chicken flautus... frozen. Was in hope for REAL MEXICAN FOOD this close to Rio grande city. Serve was good. They do have good sweet tea, and clean bathrooms.

Not over cooked or burnt looking like some fast food places. The quality matched the wait time. The place was clean and they were still cleaning. We came well before closing time. I was thankful the AC was working really well, as today the temperature outside was over 100°! I was impressed with the facility. It is pleasant, and apparently a local hangout. It's only three short blocks off the main highway (281) and has good parking. The menu is fairly simple: hamburgers, chicken burgers, chicken or steak finger baskets, tacos, and frozen desserts: soft serve ice cream, shakes, etc. See more at their website. The employees were friendly and helpful. The food was as expected or better. The food took a bit longer than other fast food restaurants I've been, but it arrived served to my table nice and hot. The steak fingers are mostly breading, but tastes good, especially with the gravy. The (American style) tacos were generously filled (though I do prefer the seasoning at Taco Bell. By the time I finished my meal I realized I ate too much to get a dessert... :-( Normally I would have ordered a Blizzard, but I was too full. If you like DQ you will love this one!
