Needed something on just off the highway heading back to Austin. We stopped in around 1:30 on the Sunday and there were only 3 other tables so we were a little worried. But the service was super friendly and quick so we were relieved. Salsa is the more watery type, not super spicy almost had a sweet flavor. Queso was good and the chips were my favorite. I had the carne guisada and I LOVED it! Also had a soft beef taco and that I wasn't really a fan of. It just wasn't the type of ground beef I'm used to in a taco, was more of a paste. Husband had the fajita plate which he enjoyed. Son had the queso burger, he was so excited but mixed reactions on it. The patty was surely frozen and didn't have much flavor but the addition of the queso and mushrooms made it yummy. My girls had the usual of chicken tenders, one liked them one did not. They were more of a panko breading tender and were a little over friend so kind of chewy. Bathrooms were clean, restaurant was clean and had cute little bursts of decor. Overall it was a safe pick, wasn't our favorite but a good option for a quick meal on the road. Leaning towards 3 stars because it wasn't amazing food but giving 4 for cleanliness, service and overall experience. We would go back. read more

Really enjoyed our late lunch. We had the Enchilada Plate w/ground beef and a Burrito w/chicken fajitas and unsweetened tea in 2 huge cups. Waitresses are super friendly with lots of smiles and very fast service. Traditional Mexican decor with high back chairs and booths along the walls. Super friendly folks. Go and enjoy. read more

Came in with my guys since we're not from the area and wanted to try something new. We seated ourselves and were greeted by an older waitress who immediately gave off a rushed, impatient vibe. As I was simply looking over the menu, she acted like we were taking too long just to order drinks, which set the tone for the whole experience. Throughout our time there, her attitude didn't change. She was dismissive, short, and honestly came off disrespectful. What stood out even more is that it wasn't just us, I watched and overheard her interacting the same way with other tables around us. Multiple people were clearly noticing and talking about it too. The spot itself is nice and the food was decent, but customer service like that completely ruins the experience. One employee can really turn people away, and she's definitely going to make people not want to come back if that's how guests are treated. I'd reconsider my rating if she'd apologize.. read more

AJ was exactly what I was needing tonight! I was starving and still 2 hours from my destination in the valley. The service was insanely good. Staff were literally running. I'm hoping they were just short staffed tonight. My margarita was good (based on experiences from other Mexican cafe type restaurants I was a bit worried). Surprisingly, not too sweet. The cheese enchiladas had the perfect amount of heat, little grease, and were $8.99!!!!!! I was full but not embarrassingly stuffed (I'm not one to take food home). Highly recommend! read more

Ate here for breakfast. I had the veggie mushroom omelet and it was cooked to perfection with cubed potatoes and my husband ordered pancakes and bacon and a fried egg. He raved about the pancakes being fluffy and delicious and that says a lot as he is the picky one! Staff very friendly and accommodating on changes on our selections. I changed refried beans for extra potatoes. We wanted to go there for dinner but time didn't permit. We will definitely stop there again when we are in the area. We had planned to go to one of our Favorite Sea Food places in Loyola Beach but they had some problem with the plumbing. We remembered seeing Agave Jalisco in Rivera so we headed over and we certainly didn't regret it. My wife had the Pechuga de Pollo and I had a bowl of their outstanding authentic Menudo. The Pechuga de Pollo was large and covered with Colby Jack and the Menudo was perfect, lots of meat with a good mix of other ingredients and served with hot Jalapeño, onions and lime . All for a very reasonable price. The place was busy and only had two waitresses but the really humped it and the service was fine. FWIW; I'm always looking for Hole-in-the-Wall places that have authentic Menudo & Barbaco and this place really fit the bill. Oh and we'll be back. read more

The stars for this review are only based on food and service. I got the chicken fajita plate and it was pretty tasty. The chicken, rice, beans and flour tortillas were all spot on. I wasn't too crazy about the chips and salsa unfortunately but my plate was so good I was able to forget about it. My husband got a chicken quesadilla and a fajita taco. The quesadilla was delicious. He said the fajita was pretty good flavor wise but was a little dry. So no super huge complaints on the food. It was good over all. 4 star good. As far as the service goes the girl was nice. Not too imposing but friendly and gave good service. My gripe however is that the chef in the back was not wearing a mask. At all. One of the girls had her mask below her nose for a bit while working around and I didn't see them sanitize their hands once between transactions. Additionally they weren't enforcing the mask rule for a family that walked through the restaurant. Although I was enjoying my delicious food I couldn't help but feel incredibly anxious at what I saw. No, i didn't complain because I'm a firm believer in: if you're going to dine in you should expect risk. I'll definitely stop by again whenever covid is over. read more

This place is my new favorite spot around this area. The food is delicious and the staff is very friendly and warm welcoming. The restaurant doesn't look too appealing when you drive by but once you stop and pay closer attention is way better! The decor and the vibes of this place are just perfect for a quick bite when you are on the road. We stopped by on the 4th of July and they remained opened throughout the day. My mom and I stopped there on the way back from the valley this past weekend. The drive thru menu was spectacular and every entre had a photographic description, which was a big plus. My mom and I shared a Torta which had carne asada, lettuce, avocado, on a soft warm bun. We also ordered some guacamole on the side along with some chips. Surprisingly, we ate around 3pm and the food kept us full for the rest of the day. For years I have always driven past this place and never bothered to stop. My mom noticed the colorful menu from a distance and was determined we pull in. I'm sure glad we did! We definitely will be going back again. read more

What a find ! If you're looking for upscale tex-mex skip this one, but if you like a good homemade mexican meal this is for you. The inside is nice and clean and the staff was very kind. Hubby ordered a carne asada torta and some street tacos (carne asada and pastor). Tons of food and the meat was all very flavorful. The charro beans that came with it were my favorite thing we ordered and I ended up stealing his. I ordered the #17 combo which was a good mix of everything and it was delicious, topped it off with the green sauce and it was perfect. Everything was very reasonably priced.
