Cute little place, with quite decent lunch too. If you're around in the area, certainly worth stopping by once in a while.

Very very good breakfast! Quick service and delicious pain perdu! The decor at the back could be more welcoming but otherwise we loved it!

The decor was gorgeous, elegant, classic, and very quaint! Service was phenomenal and it's a small establishment so you feel very appreciated.

Then,…read moreduring my first visit to Lille, in France, home to one of the three Méert shops (the other being in Paris), I sampled their gaufres. Or rather, fell in love with their gaufres. The vanilla filling is to die for. We've taken visiting friends to Méert and bought more and more of their gaufres, but never had we actually eaten in. We decided, after seeing their luxurious looking tarts, that we had to try them. When we arrived, all the tables out front in the Galeries Royales Saint Hubert were full, as well as the small number of tables in the actual shop. We ordered our tarts and only had to wait about five minutes before a free table opened up and we were seated. We ordered the Tarte Yuzu and the Jardin D'Eden. You can read the description of both, and all the others, in the pictures I attached. We also ordered tea. I recommend smelling all the teas in the shop before you decide on which one to order, as they all sound delectable. The tartes were amazing. So we'll prepared. The Yuzu was both of our favorites, but the Jardin D'Eden, a pistachio confectionery, was in no way bad, we just preferred the Yuzu, mint and lemon confit, and the hazelnut crunchy layer. When we come been, and we definitely plan on coming back, we're going to get another Yuzu and try a different tarte for tarte number two for next time.

We ordered the Classic Brussels waffle and the Simply Brussels waffle. After the first bite, it was easy to see why this place is so popular. I've never had a waffle this light, crispy, and airy before. I loved the Classic, topped with rich chocolate sauce and a scoop of ice cream. My friend went with the Simply, topped with cinnamon crumbles and a scoop of ice cream. What impressed me the most was the texture. Every bite was the perfect combination of warm waffle, rich chocolate, and cold ice cream. Even until the very last bite, the waffle stayed light and crispy without becoming soggy. That's not something you find very often, and it made the experience even more memorable. Yum! :p

I tend to like the lighter crispy style waffle so I really liked the brussels style waffle. I wouldn't recommend putting too many wet toppings on the brussels waffle since it gets soggy pretty quick. Lieges waffle has sugar in the dough so it is a bit sweet and the dough almost tastes like a croissant dough. They made our waffle to order, piping hot and fresh. Pay extra for seating but there's some standing tables outside.

The owner is so passionate and friendly and tries to strike up a conversation with every single customer, no matter where they're from. I thought the customer service was next level. As for the sandwich, I want to preface that I don't eat regular sandwiches. I'm super picky and usually just get meat and cheese. NOTHING else. So his sandwiches weren't really my style. They looked very good but I know I wouldn't enjoy it if I just ordered off the menu. He puts a ton of fruits and cheeses into your sandwich and asks a bunch of questions of what you like before putting it together. I went for a blue cheddar cheese and since I wasn't getting anything else, he cut a gigantic chunk for my sandwich. The only downside is I think the only meat he uses is small salami slices. He put in triple the amount he usually puts but the cheese still took over the whole sandwich (I ended up buying more meat from the grocery store to fill it up). Every sandwich he makes is the same price and comes with a drink. I wanna say that his normal sandwiches are probably amazing. Mine was okay after I added all the meat into it. I also didn't eat it right away. But I think the customer service itself should receive 5 stars.

There were 4-6 people in front of us. It took us about an hour waiting. I hate to keep harping on the wait time but setting expectations is key. There is even a story posted on the window about the wait time. So why the wait? Tonton Graby provides individual attention. You can order off their limited menu or just talk to him about your feelings, likes, and dislikes. From there, you get a tailored cheese sandwich exceeding any expectations you might have built up. You don't pay until you've at least tasted it - even if you opt'd for take out. "If you don't like it, I'll eat it" the owner will tell you. You might opt for fruit or veggies on top. You can add meat. There is a small area to eat in if like us you were in no hurry. A sandwich with meat ran 9 euros as of this writing. They accept credit but prefer cash. Enjoy!
