I was stuck in the SUDS car wash for 5 minutes before anyone came out, I honked the whole time, then had to CALL them on the phone. The rep was extremely rude. I touched nothing in the car to make it go off the tracks. I will never be going here again. read more

I went to the SUDS CAR WASH on Merivale Road today and I pulled up to the self-serve outdoor bay lineups. As I was waiting in line, I saw a sign that's mentioned inside base self-serve "same price" so I decided to hive it a try. I pulled up to the indoor bay self serve line which and hit the green button for my code# and the ticket time stamped 12:45pm so at that time I'm pulling in park my car take out my mats read the stuff figure out what I'm gonna do and I hit the button just to rinse cause that's all I needed to get the salt off. At 12:49pm I hit the button to STOP. At 12:51pm, was at the door putting in my code to pay. That is when I noticed the discrepancy with the price, The supervisor Gabriel decided to argue with me for about 10 minutes saying that the price inside is different than outside and there is signage everywhere. That is false. You only get to see that once you're inside if you decide to pull in and start reading the walls. The supervisor that came to my help was extremely ignorant, condescending obnoxious, and belittling. He would not even let me speak without interrupting the whole time and raising his voice, talking over me and being dismissive. It clearly states on the website and the wall outside all state clearly that self serve bays are same price. Not according to Gabriel. I have not come across an employee this rude EVER! I will never be back. I called back and asked for upper management contact info and he refused. So here I am, extremely disappointed that common human curtesy is not what I received but treated like garbage instead. Never returning. read more

The left front rim of my car was damaged in their drive through car wash today. The tire cleaner mechanism at the end of the wash grabbed the wheel and the car shuddered. When I exited the wash, I examined the wheel and could see where a 1 inch section of clear coat had been scaled off the wheel. I had just had these rims refinished! When I spoke with the manager he said this would never happen with their equipment and that this damage must have been curb rash. I described exactly what happened, showed him the equipment that caused the damage and the manager said I was lying. He refused to accept any responsibility. Suds just lost a customer and will be subject to as many negative on-line reviews as I can write. I have never been that badly treated. Stay away from Suds Ottawa. read more

BEWARE. Drive through scratches car. My right side of roof is scratched. See photos. I had noticed this last month after car wash. Went back today in case it was not the car wash. New scratches right after wash. Notify person working there. Update: Suds just called. Told me they have their camera showing scratches. I said yes there would be from the previous wash. I also explained there is another scratch on the roof not caused by the car wash but by my neighbors roof shingle blowing off roof during wind storm last year and that is not the scratches I'm referring to. He said he wanted the date of the previous car wash. I told him I do not have it. Anyways I explained I'm not looking for anything from them but want them to be aware of the issue. New review: So, it was brought to my attention that the indoor bays and automatic wash have hours, and it's only the outdoor bays that are 24-7. I think that wasn't really made clear, but, let's chalk this up to being my mistake and human error. Knowing this, I'm more willing to go and revisit this establishment, and I have. I consider myself a regular customer now. But now I've discovered some other problems that have come to light. Mainly their touch screens to switch detergents. For context, their bays work on a timed basis, at $1 per minute. (an extra 5 minutes is added if you spend $15, giving you 20 minutes) The bad: The interface is very slow and lacks proper response. You find yourself mashing the screen over and over, not sure if it's just slow, or hasn't detected your touch. This wastes paid time, and is frustrating, considering you are literally watching the seconds tick by. Once something is selected, it takes about 40 seconds before the rest of the system switches the detergent over to what you've selected, meaning you are loosing about 66 cents per time you switch detergents. But all that would be tolerable... except for one rather major bug. If you switch detergents too quickly without pausing about 10-15 seconds between selections, like if the touch registers a wrong button and you touch the right button again, the interface will say you've switched detergents, but won't have actually done so... Until you figure this out, and spend a good minute switching to a different detergent and back, you'll still be spraying soap instead of water, or waiting for the foam brush or whatnot, while your money trickles away. So, in a normal wash where you switch between about half of the functions, I'd say I spend at least 2 minutes fighting with the machine. That's a good 2 dollars down the drain for most people. That sucks, a lot, and I recently learned this the hard way. Now, all this being said... Their staff, when they are available, are excellent. I recently had the machine keep me waiting for a good 5 minutes waiting for the foam brush to actually start working, and the gentleman in the booth kindly credited me the 5 minutes. Their staff is their saving grace. So, with these caveats in mind, I'd somewhat reluctantly recommend this place. If those machines worked properly, and responded well, this place would be an easy and solid 5 stars. But since they don't, I'd say 3 stars, worth a visit, but don't expect it to be a 100% pleasant and perfect experience. Old review: I would have given this place 5 stars, if it weren't for one little detail. They seem to close their heated indoor wash bays and their automated car wash whenever they want. It's frustrating when I've driven 20 minutes for a car wash, that's supposedly 24 hours, to get there and it be closed. It also doesn't bode well for their membership plans, since their terms clearly state that them being closed when you arrive to be your problem, and they will not credit you anything if when you try to go for a car wash, they are closed. If they had two different sets of hours for the outdoor washes and the indoor/automated washes, this would be acceptable, but I won't go out of my way to go to a place that has been closed 2 out of 5 times that I've gone, and I certainly won't buy a membership if their terms are so restrictive, and they are sloppy with their hours. If I'm passing by, I will probably be a customer again, but I'm never again going out of my way to be a customer to this establishment. Very disappointing customer experience. read more

This is pretty much the only spray and wash place in the west end. It's $4 minimum and that only give you I believe 4 minutes. A little pricey. But, I do like the indoor bay in the colder months so I can stay toasty while washing the car. read more

Just learned from my last visit that they are currently offering some special discounts, e.g. half price on Wednesday and 9pm-7am (they call it night owl special), $2 for 4min. (after the discount) is a very good deal for me.... except they don't allow bucket wash.. which is my favour method...so take away 1 star for that... read more

I would go here more often if I didn't live so far from the location. I live in the West end, so it's a bit out of the way. I bought a groupon for 5 washes and the drive-thru automated wash always seem to do a pretty good job. I like that it's fabric because it seems to help get rid of those dried up bug splatters. The only thing I didn't like was the drying period. Every time, it didn't dry my car enough and I only have sedan. I actually went for my final wash, and because I let it sit for so long, the rfid tag had expired. What was nice was the older male attendant there was nice and help sort it out and got me my final car wash without much hassle. I'd definitely go back if I'm in the area and maybe ever try out the self serve wash bays. read more

The indoor self service bays make this the Cadillac of self service car washes. The temperature outside on this January day was a chilly -15C but inside it was much warmer. One caution, the water froze a bit at first until the warm water (and the warm air) warmed up the car body. The bays are large and the access lane is wide. The space is appreciated when you have a larger vehicle. The wash bay includes a credit card reader. That's much more convenient than bringing coins. You can buy any amount of time, but just get the 20-minute service for $15. That's enough time to do a good job even on a large vehicle without having to rush as you watch the clock. I might wish the door closed quicker to keep the cold out after a customer departed. Highly recommend Suds if you value a clean car and prefer to do it yourself. It's a 12K drive for me, but I will return. read more

Ok so to start, it's a lil bit pricy for what you get. I've been to several other self spray wash places in Ottawa and this one is not one of the cheaper spots. I think the vacuum is like 4$ for four or five minutes. The wash is the same...4$for 4 minutes and a dollar for each additional minute, and the foam brush is way small! It takes forever to brush your car with that thing, it's just a bit bigger than a toothbrush! The vacuum btw has very low suction, there are like 15-25 stalls hooked up to one central vacuum I think so it's very weak. Overall it's ok I guess but there are better places in the city to go if you feel like washing your vehicle yourself in a spray booth. But the whole reason I'm leaving this review is because today I put in 5$in one of their booths and there machine just ate my money and gave me no time. I called back and had to come back for a refund which was not a hassle per say other than having to drive back and explain what it is I was there for and asking for my money back! And when I explained what happened, the guy was like ya it's been happening to a lot of other people not just you buddy. That really pissed me off because the booth was still open for business and the bill accepter hadn't been repaired. My first thought was OMG! CLOSE THE BOOTH AND STOP RIPPING OFF YOUR CUSTOMERS! Even if it was happening 1 time out of 10, it shouldn't have been open for business because people are busy and don't have time to chase their money down when you're less than functioning equipment is taking it from them and not giving them what they paid for. People are busy and I really really didn't appreciate seeing the booth still open for business, poor poor management! read more
