Here was the response received: "They are currently taking new patients in person or for telehealth.They stated as of today that they have appointments available but it can change at anytime. They are scheduling within 2 weeks." Within 2 hours of insurance confirming availability, I phoned the practice to schedule an appointment. The receptionist said she needed my full name (first name would not suffice) and birthdate to ask the providers if they were taking new patients at this time and that she would call me back. Upon callback within 10 minutes, she stated they are not accepting new patients at this time. I could not help but feel discriminated against as if my age or implied ethnicity from my last name were utilized in deciding whether to accept a new patient. I cannot fathom any valid reason a last name or birthdate would be used to determine availability; it was not for insurance purposes as that was not requested. Due to how violated this interaction made me feel, I cannot recommend it.
