To be fair, my first visit was not too bad. I found the place after moving to Ottawa from Toronto, and was relatively happy with my first visit. Though my treatment started well after my appointment, and they do not have a conditioning treatment session with steam after relaxing your hair, the place was clean, and the stylists were friendly and seemed pretty knowledgable. I have been to much better salons (Azan's in Toronto is particularly great), but I was happy enough to make a second appointment. So I show up for my appointment about 5 minutes before the scheduled time. The website says to show up a half hour in advance, but given my experience the first time, 5 minutes was plenty. I go to open the door... and it's locked! I wait around until a few minutes after my scheduled appointment time... and it's still locked. I go home and call, and she tells me that she "must have just been coming through the back door". No apology, and she acts like I'm the idiot for not waiting around in case she deigned to make an appearance. Wow. I will not be going back there, so if anyone knows of a good place in Ottawa for black hair, let me know.

Not like many other so-called hair dressers that probably took a week long course and set up a shop afterwards. She takes the time to see what problems you may have with your hair and sets up a regiment for you to maintain even after visits. The salon is clean and professionally decorated. The owner is super nice and friendly and actually sticks to appointments. She doesn't make you wait 5 hours while trying to do 5 chicks hair at a time. She is also great with weaves and reasonably priced. She is not cheap (but not expensive either) but it reflects in her work. I've been going to her for 3 years and I would definitely recommend this as a go to place in Ottawa and am GLAD I found it. Sidenote: She also has esthetic services and a make-up line so this is a one-stop shop for all your needs. I am obsessed with her glosses and lipsticks-great for darker skin tones

You should be warned that this is not you average salon, it conducts itself much like a barber shop with open conversation and community gossip amongst all who sit in its chairs. In this case, I stated, I do not care what length you take off, but to take off all of the dead ends. I wanted to leave with totally fresh, non split ends hair. I also have extremely curly hair, with a cowlick, and he always makes sure to make my hair look even when he cuts it. He understands that wet curly hair 1 inch is actually more like 2 for the dry curly look. He also does a great dye job, and will recommend things to you based on your colour tone, your hair, whether it can withstand certain treatments, and also will ask your general day to day look to make sure you look great at all times. I made the mistake one time of seeing another hairdresser to touch up my bangs when he was on vacation, and I learned my lesson because I looked like the Three Stooges! I will never let another human touch my hair, Hilton only! I am sure the other stylists are just as good at this salon, but I can't vouch for them as I will not see anyone else. But if you're my curly crew, trust me your hair is safe in Hilton's hands.

I asked for a refund (whole or partial) for this extremely expensive treatment that destroyed my hair and the owner refused and told me the colour hadn't changed (despite everyone who actually knows me seeing that it had) and that he sees hair "a lot more damaged" than mine. Though I don't dye my hair and it started out extremely healthy, so of course he's seen more damaged hair! I never claimed to have the most damaged hair in the city, just that my hair is now damaged. Would never go back, nor recommend. Awful experience, especially how flip the owner was when I told him my concerns. Edited to add the owner's response is patently untrue. I absolutely asked about my hair colour not changing prior to the appointment because I know keratin changes natural hair colour and wanted to ensure this wouldn't happen with the hair botox, (he was there when I went in for the treatment and to suggest otherwise is a lie), and even post-trim my hair remains damaged, a different colour, and notably, this expensive treatment didn't work. As for the photos, he took them without my consent when I went into talk to him about how upset I was about my hair. I haven't seen them, but it was certainly not "throughout the process" as he claimed. Stay away from this salon!!!

She even brought a photo showing exactly what she wanted. Instead, she left with hair cut up to her eyebrows in places, an uneven cut, and a hairstyle that looked nothing like the photo she provided. My daughter was in tears when she left. She is so upset and embarrassed by the result that she does not even want to go back to school. At 12 years old, self-image is incredibly important, and this experience has been devastating for her confidence. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the appointment myself due to severe allergies that prevent me from being in salons. My husband took her and, not knowing what else to do in the moment, paid $60 for a haircut that was clearly not what was requested. We returned to have it fixed, but there is only so much that can be done when so much hair has already been cut off. While the salon attempted to help, the reality is that you cannot put the hair back once it is gone. The most frustrating part is that my daughter's wishes were not listened to. We provided a clear reference photo and a simple request, yet she left with something completely different. she was completely taken advantage of because she was a kid and my husband wasn't sure what to do or say.
