The staff is very friendly and with so many small trinkets I can see that they would have theft issues. They also don't accept returns, only exchanges on a very specific timeline with very limiting guidelines. The store is always filthy and overpacked with racks that you can barely look through. There are a few treasures to be found, especially if you're willing to cough up $17-40 per piece of clothing. It's just overpriced and not worth the money for me.

It's owned by a Scottish fellow and his wife, so they went with a really fun Scottish theme & tartan everywhere...although small, it's definitely a cheerier version of the standard antique mall with dreary stalls. Debra is incredibly friendly and welcoming! On my visit, I only found a few little treasures I couldn't leave without, but they are still in the early days and adding new vendors. Of course prices and items varied by stall, but the quality was great overall (so much neat stuff!) and prices seemed fair, especially on home furnishings. I will definitely add Tartan Traders to my rotation for secondhand shopping trips!

The day I went it was a bag sale, everything you could fit into a plastic bag for a buck (with a few exceptions like books). But that's totally forgiven as they seem to be staffed by volunteers. If this was more of a corporate thrift store I'd dock the stars for that. Anyway, it looks like as of my August 2017 visit the thrift store is open 9 am to 1 pm on Saturdays and have daytime hours Tuesday through Friday. I would check with them for hours if you're driving to Seneca. The food pantry is by appointment for those in need. As for the thrift store...it's not huge, but it's pretty well stocked and they have low prices. There's quite a lot for babies, kids, and expectant mothers, including linens, pregnancy and childcare books, children's and maternity clothing, etc. I was seeking adult clothing, magazines, books, and decor, and found a few items that made it well worth the drive from Joplin to Seneca on a Saturday morning. Most clothing is neatly hung and reasonably well organized. My favorite find was a vintage style top that seems to be homemade but is fantastic! They were having a special summer sale making it dirt cheap. They also accept donations of merchandise or spare change for their mission of providing hunger relief for the community, so I have to give five stars. The ladies working were very friendly and polite when we visited the store.
