Terrible online experience. They don't respond to emails. Sent multiple emails to Digitalbranch@suffolkcu.org nobody reached out back. Their online platform is extremely unreliable, It frequently displays errors with unclear or misleading messages--some even reference a phone number that's just a placeholder instead of an actual contact. Applied for an account online but did not receive a confirmation email or application reference number upon submission. A couple of hours later, I received an email containing a link to enroll in online banking, but the link appears to be broken. read more

Horrible! They closed down my accounts and won't tell me why. My paycheck is now in limbo for 3-5 business days. I opened an account last week. As a I usually do in order to pay bills on time, I zelled myself $1000 from my paycheck. I had to verify over the phone and was able to complete the transfer to my other account. On July 3rd I couldn't access my account anymore. I spoke with customer support this morning and they told me they terminated my accounts and would be mailing me a check. No explanation. I'm very disappointed. What kind of compliance department does that to someone who just made an account!! STAY AWAY! Very upset I can't use part of my paycheck until it comes in the mail. I have never banked with an institution that transfers funds without the account holder's permission. Simply because there was money in my account, they repeatedly moved funds from my personal account to other accounts without my authorization. When I contacted them to address the issue, no one was able to provide a clear explanation. This is by far the strangest and most unprofessional banking experience I've had in my entire life. I am seriously considering closing my account and reporting this bank to the Better Business Bureau. read more

They are horrible with communication. For 2 weeks I called and emailed for "next steps" in regards to a HELOC application. No one returned any of my correspondence. First of all, what happened to the listing of a president to contact? I have been a member for over 45 years and the deterioration of basic service has been cumulative in the last few years. This notifying you of dormant accounts because there was no yearly activity in the savings, although plenty in the checking and having you transfer a dollar or a penny to activate the savings is nonsense. Then, on February 12, 2025 I purposely moved money from my savings to my checking to avoid this fiasco in the present year. Lo and behold I received two notices dated August 12, 2025 that my accounts had been inactive since February 12, 2025 and were inactive and dormant. They didn't even wait a year this time. Seriously considering moving my money elsewhere. Four Leaf has been even worse with their service since the;y've expanded big time (Failing to stop payment on a check). Of the credit unions I use, only Teachers seems to be holding up on its end of services. Then again, there's always the option of the mattress. read more

Getting the run around. To open an online account I had to submit a copy of my license, and my passport and now they say not enough they want my social security card to? In this day and age uploading all of those sensitive data is frightening. Feeling discriminated against as I know others who opened an online account and were never asked for anything other than photo ID. They are very mean and their customer service is awful. My daughter was behind on her loan, I paid it up to date and they put a derogatory on my credit because I'm a co-signer. I explained to them I moved to Florida and I never got any emails or was notified by mail. The online payment system is awful. I made payments but they never posted because I changed the address on my credit card and it was rejected. No one contacted and informed my payment didn't go through, nothing on my online account letting me know it was rejected. They are not caring or understanding when someone actually wants to pay their loan up to date. I called them 5 times because a payment I made didn't post but no one ever called me back. I finally reached a lovely customer service rep who took my payment over the phone. I will never deal with this bank again. My credit score was 850, it's now ruined. They are rude and condescending. I asked them to send me the past due emails they never did. I only received one email when I signed up and another when I made a payment with the customer service rep. Instead of speaking nice to me they were attacking me. I informed them that I was taking over the loan payments and there would be no ever be another late payment. My credit report shows no late payments or delinquencies ever! The online banking was down 6/4-6/7/2024 and my payment wasn't posted till 6/7. I paid the account up to date and the put a derogatory on my credit report 6/14 on my birthday. I've never dealt with more uncaring people before. It's like talking to a wall.... read more

I have been a customer for over 20 years. I currently reside in PA and opened an account at a local bank, so I sent a secure message asking SFCU to close my accounts and mail me a check. After two weeks my account was still opened so I sent ANOTHER secure message and was told that I couldn't close them until my line of credit account was closed. There have been 4 ADDITIONAL messages and STILL no money! It's only $31, but it still belongs to me. After I called again I got an email saying I need to send "ID" Do you mean a license? I called again and spoke to a representative who was CLUELESS about the situation. He gave me a general fax number to fax my information. This place is a horror! Don't bank there. Update: It's been three months trying to get my money and STILL NOTHING! I was told that the fax I sent my picture was too dark to see. I finally had enough and mailed a copy along with a LEGAL DOCUMENT with my new address! Then I get a call saying I must give VERBAL consent to close the account, so I do. Then I get another call saying because I changed my address I have to wait ANOTHER 30 DAYS!! It's absolutely ridiculous the amount of hoops you have to jump through. BEWARE!! I'm going to the Better Business Bureau. These people have no intention of giving this money back. They're going to just keep throwing up roadblocks till the customer GIVES UP!! read more

I've been coming to this bank for over 25 years and have no complaints. Their interest rates are competitive. I find everyone from the front desk receptionist to the clerks to the associates very friendly and helpful. I have had car loans with them as well as personal lines of credit with no issues or problems. All in all, for a bank, a good experience. read more

I will give SFCU 1 star because of my longevity-at least 20 years as a member. As of today, I am on day 4 of my vacation in Hong Kong. I sent an Out of Country access message to alert the bank to ensure that my bank cards and money are accessible. My account was cleared by way of a response email before I even left U.S. soil. In Hong Kong, hotel, goes through! Disneyland - DENIED!!! No one to call, nothing to do! . Tried ATMs, Western Union, nothing else can be done! Security, ya, I get it! But come on. This was pre-arranged just to be dismantled within 1 day!? This is not the 1st time this has happened to me compliments of SFCU. I went to Australia & I forgot to advise of my travels. I called the branch & gave the rep what she asked for to clear the account. She said my account would be cleared. Normally takes a minute or 2. I work in an industry where consumers often call their bank to lift an international block. This however, went on for days, due to the time difference. I am thoroughly disappointed in Suffolk Federal Credit Union and I will have to search for other banking institutions. This is unacceptable. read more

Longtime member but that's about to end. New software/website update is terrible. Can't turn off email notifications of EVERY bill I pay. I don't need to know every time things work correctly - I need to know when it DOES'NT work properly. This is just a non-stop nuisance and security breach. I don't need Yahoo data mining my email to learn what I'm spending & where. I emailed my concerns over and over to the bank and apparently it is impossible to allow customers to uncheck that particular box to stop being alerted of that particular activity. I can SEE the option yet it's grayed out and can't be unchecked. MIND BOGGLING. And I thought I had a solution by changing my email to a private paid account but no, even after changing my email address everywhere humanly possible, I am STILL getting emails from the bank at my Yahoo account - WTF??? And everything seems to take more steps to accomplish, except logging in - that is the only thing they made easier and with less steps. So easier for hackers to get in & harder for me to navigate & use. I hate when things get "upgraded" or "improved", it wasn't broke, why "fix" it???!!! So I now absolutely HATE my online banking experience (and that's mostly what I do) and will be taking my business & my money elsewhere. Been a bank member for over 25 years. Financed auto loans several times, rates are always competitive and easy to apply for. We recently had an issue with theft the folks at the bank were terrific. staff is friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend SFCU. read more

Great banking experience! Amy was very helpful and opening new account was easy. Tellers are all very friendly and SFCU offers a multitude of accounts, insurances and even auto sales! Mobile deposits make life very easy, as the branches are few and far in between. Only downfall is the lengthy holding period on checks. Will be using this bank from now on. read more
