Avoid this group. I have Refractory Hypertension that is not controlled with 8 blood pressure medications. They did testing abnormalities are there Left Ventricular Hypertrophy and 4.2 CM Aortic Aneyrism. Both nothing to worry about. Asked for more testing and Dr. D'Gatete basically told me I was fat and to lose weight. That is why I have constant chest pain and shortness of breath. It's his way of treatment or no treatment. An example of everything that's wrong with healthcare. It suffices to say that in this practice, the patient is last on the list - if at all. Their entire approach calls into question their competence and expertise - and causes significant mistrust, concern, and angst. It's clear the entire process is designed to maximize profits. Overbooked Physicians spend no more than 5 minutes per visit and don't even perform a basic exam (including listening to heart). Test results aren't discussed or explained. They require some tests to be perfomed on site and will not review results from outside providers (Zwanger); in other cases (CT Angiogram), there's disdain for outside providers other than their network. Concerns are dismissed or ignored, and questions are discouraged and met with annoyance. There's an astounding attitude of arrogance and grandiosity. Professional Staff (NPs, Nurses, etc.) do the minimum to assist with getting needs met - except when pressed - and even then it's as if they're doing you a favor; and there's a serious lack of professionalism and knowledge. Front desk Staff ranges from sympathetic and helpful (older ones) to ornery and arrogant (younger ones). After dealing with the unacceptable for two years, I found a Cardiology Practice that's the complete opposite - from the Physicians, to the Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants to the Support Staff - it's an exceptional experience and it's clear their practice is about the patient. My health concerns are heard and attended to; their competence and capabilities - and credidentials - are superior. read more

This office has turned for the worse! I've been coming here for years and every years the staff has become more and more incompetent. Let's start with the front desk, they don't greet you, she was on her phone having a private conversation with headphones on while asking me my personal information. Unacceptable. I waited about an hour to get called in. Not bad. The tech that called me in , was on her phone from the moment she called me in and also wearing headphones. After checking her phone a couple of times. She did my ecg , and went on her way. as I was waiting in the room I can here a private conversation going on. How she met a guy and how he's coming out to see her. I'm surprise that the doctors approve of this behavior in their practice. As the doctor comes in she rushes me out. I go to make my appointment and the same girl that did my ecg is having a conversation with the girl that's doing my appointment. How are you having a side conversation while making my appointment. Then this other women walks in high fiving everyone and cursing. This office lack professionalism, it's not the same. I've been coming here for 10 years. This is my last time. read more

Today my husband followed up with Dr D'Agate at the Bayshore office, after being discharged from Good Samaritan Hospital . On arrival the office was jammed pack and I thought we would be waiting there forever, but not too bad it was about 30 mins before he was called in .The waiting area is old and could use an update , but it was clean . They also have a Smithtown location , which I have never been to. The girls at the desk were all business, they were very professional and busy , with no time for pleasantries, very efficient but a friendly smile would have been appreciated. The nurse was very friendly and also professional .She took care with my husband to make him feel comfortable as he was struggling with his swallowing . Dr D'Agate was fantastic , knowledgeable , mild mannered and patient.He put my husband at ease , he took his time and explained everything to us in detail. An amazing doctor ! Went to Dr DGate with my husband on a recommendation. He was very nice on our first visit but on our second visit he was totally opposite and was mad that when we asked questions and stormed out of the room. We changed to Dr Deutsch and he inserted two stents. Prior to the procedure we expressed our concern that he has a very bad back and was told that he is unable to lay on his back. We were told that they deal with this quite often and that he would put in a plug after the procedure so he would only have to be on his back for one hour. I never give reviews but I feel like I must now that the office has switched to Catholic Health Services, the Front office has gone down hill. Within the last two weeks I have had problems with going for Tests and have prescriptions filled. Like usual the night before my appointment I get a confirmation text to only find out when I get to the office that the tests were not approved by my insurance company and a requesting for prescription took 4 days to be done. I believe it was done on the 4 day only because I asked the pharmacy to call the Dr. office. read more

I've had to get a stress test for pre surgical reasons. This group has rescheduled this test 3x due to their mistakes such as incorrect communication, inputting incorrect insurance codes, and not reading my chart. I was supposed to have my surgery a month ago but it keeps getting pushed back. Not to mention I've missed days of work due to the last minute mistakes. I've driven to the office with a scheduled appointment just to be told the test was ordered incorrectly & would have to come a different day. I would highly NOT recommend! read more

Would be nice if they could keep a schedule. I had an appointment scheduled for 8:45am, when they called to confirm they changed it without my knowledge or consent to 10am. They said I made the mistake, but I always schedule my doctors appointment for either 8:30-8:45 due to my work schedule, and will have them look far in advance to get that time. I love my cardiologist, but hate the office staff, they definitely need more training!! Complete Fail!! Quick to blame the patient or their computer system. Man up and admit the mistake was on you and try to be more cooperative to fix YOUR mistake!! read more

I see Dr Happes. I would recommend him if you need a cardiologist. He is very thorough and takes his time to answer my questions. He also makes me feel comfortable as going to the dr can be nerve-wracking already. My only complaint was the treatment I got when I had my stress echo. This from the assistant that set me up for the test. She didn't have any regard for privacy as I got ready for test, already knowing I was uncomfortable changing. She had me face the door with my gown up and the curtain to the hallway not fully closed. During the test as I laid on the table, she took her phone out! Now what do you need a phone for when you are working? Not to mention I am half naked. I then heard her camera shutter. I was so out of breath from the test that I couldn't ask her what she was doing. She never answered me when I asked her later. She made me take off my gown and hand it to her while the door was open and the sono tech was still in room. I waited for him to leave. This was the most uncomfortable visit I have ever experienced. I am a registered nurse so I know patient's already feel nervous during these things. I never would have treated my patients this way. I spoke to the office manager already and she said it would be addressed. I just want to make sure she was aware so that it doesn't happen again. Overall I never had any problems with the other staff. They have been courteous and professional. read more

Had a horrible experience with this group. It was my first visit ever to a cardiologist and I cannot believe how badly this office is run. I booked my appointment and when I got there I was called to the desk and the doctor I was supposed to see was so far behind they asked if I minded seeing someone else. I agreed. When I was called back I was rushed into a room and medical assistants were rushing me like the place was on fire and were discussing how upset they were having to take the other doctor's patient, which was me. Then I saw the doctor who was nice enough but I also felt rushed. I was handed a paper with all the tests he wanted done and told to go to the front to check out. I was booked for most of my tests the following week but my stress test and follow up with doctor was not until May. What if something is really wrong and I am not seeing the doctor again until May! I have since cancelled everything with them and am going to try to find another cardiologist. read more

Three year ago, I had a triple bypass. If it is possible to have a good time in a Doctor's office the Suffolk Heart & Good Sam is the Place. It all started with my GP, Dr. Giantinoto, who said when was the last time you saw a cardiologist? I said never. He said you are 65 years old, you have diabetes and you have never seen a cardiologist. I told him that I would make an appointment as he summoned his Nurse and told her to make an appointment for me with Suffolk Heart, he further said, NOW. Off I went to see Dr. D'Agate. The good doctor found some irregular something or other and told me I may need a stent or two. Off I went to see Suffolk Heart's intervention cardiologist Dr. Ezra Duetch. When I heard the name Ezra, I thought I was going to meet a movie cowboy spitting tobacco along side Edgar Buchanan, for those of you old enough to remember him. The good doctor was so efficient in putting in six stents, and making me at ease with his sense of humor I felt like I was in the hands of God. He told me one more stent and it would be a personal record. I told him to put it in, I have a coupon, six stents and the seventh one is free. Alas, the coupon expired. A few years later, Dr. D'Agate again found something irregular and Dr. Ezra found that I needed open heart surgery with a blockage in the Aorta, nicknamed the widow maker. Off to Good Samaritan when I met Dr. Timothy Carter a young surgeon. I thought maybe someone with gray hair. Dr. Carter stayed with me for 16 hours, I think you have to be young for the stamina necessary to make me well. I am a lousy patient, and these four Doctor's treated me with the care they would have given to a close relative and made me feel as if I was in the Hands of God. They are a caring bunch of doctors, all of whom have a keen sense of humor that keeps you confident that maybe you are in the hands of God. My visit to Dr Bishop's office was a very pleasant experience. The woman at the front desk are friendly and professional. The tech, Diana who brought me back, did my pt interview and EKG is friendly, kind, knowledgeable, and proficient at her job. Really made me feel at ease. Of course, Dr Bishop is great!! My mother was a patient of a former doctor in the practice for years and stayed after he left. She had Dr Bishop for years and I started seeing Dr Bishop during the pandemic. She listened well and did all the tests in the beginning as well great patient teaching. Follow up visits followed a pattern of a quick exam, checking test results and saying everything is fine and see me in 6 mths on her way out the door. No explanation of results unless I asked detailed question. It's as if she stopped trying very hard to impress and started doing just the minimum. I've had only pleasant experiences with the techs and nurses. The front desk staff was sometimes friendly, sometimes distant and barely professional. I've shown up for tests only to find it's not scheduled or called for refills of cardiac meds and been told it wasn't prescribed by that doc or it's not in their record. We both feel as if they used to be A+ but have lately declined to just average. read more

I went to Suffolk Heart Group to follow up after an emergency room visit for atrial fibrillation. I saw Dr. Littman who did not give me any information about the medication he prescribed. After taking this medication for two months I experienced serious gastrointestinal side effects. I went into the office as advised by Dr. Bishop who told me there is a test I need in order to stop taking this medication. When I saw Dr. Littman I showed him my distended abdomen and told him I have ileus that has caused me to have an emergency colostomy in the past. Dr. Littman spent his time telling me that it was all in my head by saying it is the mind body connection and my distended abdomen was a manifestation of a placebo type event. This doctor is treacherous to anyone who has rare conditions and adverse effects to drugs that are not typical. Dr. Littman's attitude, ignorance, and refusal to listen to me as a patient is exactly what caused me to have a colostomy. A doctor who does not listen to your complaints cannot be trusted with your health. If you are a complicated patient, do not go to him. He could kill you. read more

our lives changed for the worst. it is too late. I will NEVER recommend Dr Happes. I do not know what to say first and can not put into words how terrible this person is. Dr Happes is Childish and does not take his position as a doctor seriously. My parent went in need of help...during the visits Dr Happes kept doing hand and arm motions saying ..he is going down. When he asked my parent how he feels which was horrible and weak..he smiles at me and says..you see. As is he was right. He kept sending my parent to the hospital and each time they left worse. He only came twice to see my parent because he must have realized he made things worse. I am walking down the hospital hallway sad and trying to keep hope that somehow things might change. What did I see? Dr Happes goofing around like a child And jumping. In the meantime 2 doors down my parent was suffering. This doctor did not have the respect and etiquette to visit and look into my parent. I could not believe what was happening. And there is so muchmore that happened...so much.....like wrong advice..not taking proper medical action or attention...His sloppy work..poor bed side manners...treating this serious and delicate situation of life as if it was an Oh Well, childish mentality ruined a family...my parent could have suffered less. He did not care and did not put any effort as a doctor into helping. He took the life and health of a loved and needed parent who was strong and was very active and this so called doctor only helped bring my parent down. I will never use or recommend this doctor to anyone. I have come to share my story with people that used Happes and their experiences are very much the same. read more
