We always have to try a donut place out everywhere we go. Fortunately, there was only 1 donut place here in Cashiers, so we didn't have to choose. Sugar Cloud has a very attractive store front and the interior matches that. I love all the things they have displayed in the store with coffee and candy and other stuff for sale. The display of cupcake and brownies were very tempting, but I was focused on the donuts. The best pricing would be to get half a dozen or a dozen (buy 5 get 1 free). We only ended up getting 3. The donuts are large in size and they make their own dough daily. First one we tried was the filled chocolate buttercream. It was truly FILLED with chocolate buttercream. Every single bite had chocolate buttercream. It was definitely fresh and delicious. The Samoa and maple bacon did not disappoint either. Although they were good, I felt the pricing was a bit steep and they weren't he best donuts I've ever had. But it was worth the stop and the calories! read more

maybe an off day, but we stopped in and bought half a dozen donuts to enjoy same-day for breakfast, and the gluten was over-developed so the texture was awful. They were totally unenjoyable, and after ensuring it was all of the donuts - not just a single bad one - we ended up throwing them all away. unfortunately, we aren't local, so this is my first and last impression, and it was not possible to return and give this feedback in person. the people who worked there were very nice, the shop was clean and it's a very cute location. read more

Custom gift boxes are also orderable. Amazing. These bakers are artists in their own rights and cleaver bakers they are. The cakes are unique. Not just two or three or four increasing smaller cakes stacked to form a pyramid, but icing swirls, colors, flowers, tea pots, shoes (really!), cartoon characters...whatever someone came up with to order. Children ALWAYS like bakeries and they will be agog trying to figure out what they want, but will be happy with their big fat donuts. Cupcakes, too. And, cookies. I had a really nice experience here, I was referred from Gateaux bakery. I ordered a custom gift box for delivery and sugar cloud was able to accommodate. They're super nice and very helpful. I ordered edible arrangements last night and it came to $80 with delivery, which I ended up cancelling. 5 goodies and treats from Sugar cloud plus delivery was $46!! Super happy I was able to find something close to my friend since I'm from CA and their prices are reasonable. Plus there treats look amazing!! Wish I would have found out about them sooner. Serena is the BEST!!! She helped me out with a last minute bday cupcake request - right before Labor Day weekend, no less... Sugar Cloud was slammed! Serena had a HUGE wedding to get ready for but she was sweet and helpful and got my cupcakes (& donuts) delivered!! Took our family with 3 excited little boys here for donuts. Waited over an hour for 6 donuts (no exaggeration), and when we finally got it the entire order was wrong with ours nowhere in sight. Got a refund. No attempts to make it right by the owners; only excuses. What a bummer. We love supporting small businesses but this just isn't OK. We stopped by on a short visit to Cashiers hoping for a good doughnut and some coffee. The people who run it are super nice, but here's the issue; the doughnuts are $4.00 (four!) a piece. I can get behind an amazing donut at $4.00, but my wife described it as a breadstick with sugar on it. It was tough, dry and tasteless. I tasted and confirmed. It's a small town and I want to support small business, but for a donut shop, they must improve the product! read more

Also had a cup of local coffee from the Pisgah Coffee Roasters. Really good cup of coffee! You can also buy Pisgah Coffee in their shop. A cute little bakery with friendly staff and absolutely fantastic donuts. I have no idea how they get them to rise so big (and I regret not taking photos) but they're delicious and hold up remarkably well if any somehow survive until the next morning. If you're in the Cashiers or Lake Glenville area and enjoy donuts you owe it to yourself to check Sugar Cloud out! They do however make only a certain amount per day so they might be out if you go right before closing but they have a variety of cupcakes that also look good as heck so there's always something there to enjoy. read more

Terrible customer service. And cannot claim lack of help. While the owner stood there not a single person acknowledged us and we were the only people in the store. This is not a post after just one visit. I have given them the benefit of the doubt each time I visit but after today we won't be back. My daughter asked to leave but about that time someone asked to help us. I ordered a donut for my teenage son. He took a bite and refused to finish it. A bakery should be a welcoming friendly place. My wife went in and purchased several cupcakes and a brownie. It was horrible. The brownie was so hard I could not cut it with a fork, knife, or bite into it. When I stopped in the following morning the young lady working said they were made several days ago. I asked did she have any fresh ones and she said that they had not sold all of the last batch yet. Small little bakery that you could easily walk by and not even notice. Most of the items for sale when we were there were cupcakes or doughnuts, but we were there early afternoon and I believe they close before 5pm so there might be more selection if you get there earlier.
